Bluebeard, I've tried all types of earplugs over the years, my current favorite for riding is the soft silicone plugs, like Mack's Pillow Softs. You can find them a little cheaper if you go with a house brand, like Walgreen's. The noise reduction is a little less than foam, but they are very comfortable, and won't interfere with your helmet. Bubber, I had a wheel notch installed in the front rail of my 4 x 8 trailer, which allows me to push my RSV a little further forward, so I was able to stay with 4 x 8. Rich

I have a 4 x 8 utility trailer that I use to transport my 99 RSV, I had 4 D rings welded to the outside of the floor frame, about a foot from each end.

Buddy, We finally got some temps in the 40's so I could test the wind blockers, they work great! Thanks for sharing a great idea with us. Rich

With my RSV, I found the odo to be off too, but not nearly as far as the speedo. When I installed a speedohealer a couple of years ago, instead of correcting the speedo with a gps, I corrected the odo by synchronizing it with a route (my 30 mile commute) that I knew the exact distance for by measuring it with my car. Now, I believe my speedo is high by 1 or 2 mph at 60 (which I'm OK with), but my odo is at least as accurate as my car's odo. Rich

Woody, WhiteHorsePress.com carries some insulated textile chaps that are pretty easy to get in and out of, and are toasty warm at least down into the 30's, which is my lower limit here in southeast Texas. I also have a pair of "Knee-Necks", which are insulated nylon wraps that velcro onto your lower leg, but they unfortunately leave your knee exposed. However, I think that company also sells some full length chaps that wrap around your leg and are secured with velcro. Rich -
Buddy, I received my wind blockers and got them mounted, they look great, but who knows if they help or not, it's been 90 degrees here! With lows all the way down in the mid 70's early in the morning. I had to get my mesh jacket back out. I'll let you know how they work if Fall ever arrives here... Rich

hig4s, I'm with you, I am similarly afflicted with MBS (multiple bike syndrome). My RSV has been my only ride for the last 3 years though, and I got the itch recently for something different. But I decided pretty quickly that the RSV was irreplaceable when I needed the advantages it offers, so I changed tactics and decided to see what's out there for around $3K. I ended up with a nice clean Honda Shadow 1100. I've had one before, so I knew it wasn't nearly as good a high mileage bike as the RSV, but for commuting in nice weather, and the occasional short "decompression" ride, its great. So I'm very happy with the pair of bikes currently in my garage, I think they compliment each other very well. Like the candy bar commercial says, "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't". Rich

If you just want to be able to use regular earphones with the RSV's audio system, #3900 is the right part. It will plug into the 5 pin DIN connector on the RSV and allow you to plug in any stereo headset with a 1/8" plug. Rich

I picked up a 1/8" plug adapter (similar to Keith's) from aerostitch.com for $18, and use it with Sony earplug speakers that fit completely inside your ear. With a 3/4 helmet, I get excellent stereo sound. I believe with a 1/2 helmet you'd still be okay, since the earplugs are doing a pretty decent job of muffling the wind noise. At 65-70, I'm only turning my volume up to 15 or so.
