You must not have seen the anti smoking commercial the "Marlboro Man" made just before dying from lung cancer....It was rather sobering....
-
I really was going to shut up after the last post... But I can't let this stupid commentary go unchallenged - get offended if you must - but comparing riding a motorcycle to smoking is just assenine!! There is nothing, good, healthy, or socially acceptable about smoking (be it cigarettes, grass or hashish), and yes those are comparable. No redeeming factors in any of those... And poisoning those around you with second-hand smoke is no longer socially acceptable....In fact it's becoming legally actionable.
-
I second that,I think it's a very bad idea..... I lost my father and my wife to cancer caused by smoking. And I wouldn't be auctioning, I would be shredding....
-
Just because you put on new tires I wouldn't necessarily rule them out as the source of the problem. Unless, of course if your wife had the same problem with the old tires....

Problem with new XXL Clearview

Looking at your photo I would say it's the coating. You are getting a reflection on the inner surface coating and it's displaced by refraction through the plastic. I would get rid of that thing.....- 22 replies

Just asked my wife, she spends many hours on that seat and backrest.....She sais there is definitely something wrong with your bike. I have to agree, and I would try to get rid of the problem before trying to mask it with covers or pads. I would put that bike on a secure stand or jack , start it and put in gear and spin that back wheel under power. If there is something wrong with the tyre, like a bad sidewall or shifted belt you want to find out soon! If you don't feel any vibration back there from the wheel, check out all the supports for your trunk. But most important: Find the problem, don't mask the symptom!!

I now have over 11000 on my 404's with 99.9% 2 up use and plenty of thread left...So I have no Idea why yours would have gone so fast......

I've been in rain, snow and on ice at low speed and at 70. Dunlop 404's do just fine just make sure you have good thread depth and proper pressure.

Lowering front of genII Venture

Wrong decision, I believe, going the wrong way altogether.......Will only make the handling worse, plus it will look like it's dragging it's tail. On the other hand, you'll be closer to the ground while dropping it at slow speed. -
As for being hard to put on the stand, I drive the rear tire up on a 2 X 6 and then it's not hard at all. I keep a 2 X 4 in the saddlebag that I use on on the road. It's cut just right to place under the front of the frame enabling the front and rear to be off the ground at the same time. Ponch[/quote ] Thanks for the idea!!!!!!!!!! Just about gave myself a hernia with this thing! Don't know why I didn't think of it! Lifted it once while wearing slippers and my toes felt like I had been perching like a parakeet for three days or so.

Not only is this piece of Chinese garbage not working, but I am getting the feeling from e-mails back and forth that Xchoppers who I bought it from will be a real bear for returns....
-
Yes, I bought one, It's lying on my desk in front of me as I type.... It's going back!!! What a piece of crap!!!!! Doesn't work. Forget it...... It connects to remote only when you fiddle with it. After you turn off the remote it won't reconnect without your actually bending down and loosening both senders then retightening!!!!! It's easier to use a tire gage, and at $169 it's a rip.....

Lowering front of genII Venture
az1103 replied to JerryK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You know Jerry.....Having read all the various posts on those smaller front tires, on this site and others,I just wouldn't do it..... Too many have mentioned the high speed loss of handling. I ride mostly two up, and when touring , whether you like it or not, you are frequently going to end up on a Freeway....That big beast just glides and holds the road sooo nice at 70-85 that I wouldn't want to sacrifice that !!! -
It could come from several places. First check your plug wires for being well plugged in and not cracked. Then you can take some aluminum foil attached to a wire grounded on the frame and wrap the wire bundles going down the left handlebar and then the right handlebar. The foil should give sufficient shielding to help you find which section of which wire is picking up the coil.

Oh! and lets not forget the speculators, they'll need a bailout too! And hey my heart is just breaking for all those creeps in Dubai who had to stop building skyscrapers in the sand and let's not forget the Russian mob(read government) who had to slow down the construction of their castles!!!

A friend of mine just picked up one of these at Harbor Freight for $69.99 on special if anyone is intrested. Looks practical...

I10 should be clear most any year and if he goes right to the coast and up the coast on 1 as far as he needs, no snow - maybe rain but no snow.

Lowering front of genII Venture
az1103 replied to JerryK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There is another possibility here, did you by any chance put a smaller tire in the front as well as lower it? In that case your wabble could be due to that... -

No can do Jerry! But what's the difficulty ? Just take your time and make sure you move those stanchions exactly the same ammount. And you may safely disregard the only post about a wabble.... If there was a wabble, it wasn't because of the mod. It was either because of a loose head bearing or improperly done mod. I have ridden many thousands of miles since doing the mod and have nothing but good to say about it. It greatly improves handling and allows a better foot stance at stops. I would not advise lowering the rear though, because you would essentially be undoing the geometry change which you get by lowering the front. -
I just got a Samsung 52" List Price 2700, got it for 1920 from buydig.com . LOVE_IT!!!! But whatever you get, I would reconsider the over the fireplace location...... Not only is the equipment at risk but it's too high for comfortable viewing and if the fireplace is on it's light will interfere with viewing.

Sorry Earl, I didn't notice the maker but I assume Honda will know since both bikes were Hondas. It is both unusual and good looking, sort of reminiscent of the spyders but more stable looking. Judging by the fit and finish not cheap.... Correction, went back and enlarged the original photo : Vertika Trykes, USA is the seller, but still no price. They have a site VertikaTrikes-usa.com

Having looked at the price and specs: Voyager is 4 inches shorter and 20 pounds heavier than Venture and at only a thousand less without CB or intercom it's realy overpriced.....and overweight....
