  1. I went from a Nomad to the RSV about 3 months ago. The dealer where I traded in was about 2 hours away on the freeway(lots of traffic). When we got there both my wife and I were somewhat tired, ears ringing (cobra pipes) hands vibrating. It took us about an hour for the transaction and then the same trip back. I had trouble at first keeping my speed down because this thing just wanted to fly! And since the sound is so different it took me a while to adjust. When we got home neither of us was tired, our heads weren't vibrating and we were ready to go for another 2 hours. Haven't looked back since even though we realy liked the Nomad!
  2. Whatever else you do, invest in a helicopter ride into the canyon. Take one that includes a lunch stop in the canyon. You won't be sorry!!! We did that in 03 and we still talk about it.
  3. It's also chinese made . Sure you want to save 2cents ? and risk it falling apart in 2 days?
  4. Nubby, did you get the seats?
  5. No, that doesn't look good. But the O ring is probably the least troubling. You have a desintegrating bearing in there somewhere!
  6. The spray bottle of Zooke I am looking at sais specifially ( Lexan and polycarbonate). Keep in mind that both of these materials are used for prescription lenses. If it's safe for them I would say it's safe for our windshields.
  7. I use something called ZOOKE Z-1 Anti-fog lens cleaner. It comes in wax , liquid and spray. The spray is best for a windshield but may even be used on your glasses. I got this at the last bike show in Long Beach in 06. Great stuff bun not cheap! try: www.zooke.com
  8. We have been thinking of going to Death Valley in October. Would like to do it on the RSV but wondering how the conditions are likely to be that time of year. Does any one have any experience with that area? And particularly around that time of year? Any suggestions?
  9. Used my Carbtune-Pro for the first time today. What a great tool!!! It is rare these days when something actually performs as well as advertised. But this thing sure does! The only thing that could have made the procedure easier would have been if Yamaha hadn't allowed a typo in the service manual flipping the naming of the screw #s (1&3) in the procedure! Which brings to mind this question: If the British are able to make such good tools, not inexpensive-but very good, then why in the world are they incapable to make a good car????!!!!
  10. How are your arms looking after the extension surgery?
  11. Prior to the RSV I had a Kawi Nomad . When I installed Cobra pipes for sound I found that the reduced backpressure of the exhaust system caused the bike to run lean and uneven. I ended-up having to significantly rejet. In return I got awsome sound plus a significant boost in response and power. I would think that similarly, installing open , or almost open pipes would require enriching the mixture on the RSV as well.
  12. Call me stupid, but I don't understand the need for HD pipes. Why can't you just drill out the OEM's? And how can you go virtually wide open pipe without completely rejetting?
  13. Thank you !! I needed that !!
