Make sure you check the versions of map and software that they send you.... Some are still being shipped with 2008 maps. If so, call Garmin they will give you a free upgrade.

Why would you put ArmorAll on the seat. That crap damages many finishes, not just vinyl. I wouldn't even use it on tires. And even if it hadn't damaged it it would have left it slick and dangerous.

This may be irrelevant to your frustration, but as the owner of a couple of Lexuses I am used to good waranty handling. Do you not have a 5 year waranty? Did Yamaha not send you a waranty card with a 24/7 800 number which will get your bike to a dealer for resolution of waranty problems? Have you tried using it? Please don't missunderstand... I realy want to know if we are just being too lenient in our demands on a company which offers a supposedly excelent waranty as a selling point. So either we have a real waranty or we have fraud, correct? Either way, I surely would like to know if there is someone to count on with this waranty or not. In the time I have owned my cars (with a simmilar waranty) I haven't as much as changed a flat - no matter where it happens. It only takes one phone call to get it done.

Ok, and just where did you manage to fit them in?! Photos please!! -
OK folks, who out there has installed a 3000 on an RSV and what do you think of it. Any noticeable difference? How does it affect power and mpg? And key question, is it worth the money?

Have you checked the trottle position sensor? see 6-12 in manual. And also check your vacuum lines.

You say, runs too smooth for coil missfire, but the problem is that you can't realy tell untill it's under load.... Are you certain your choke is fully coming off?

Headlight lamp replacement.....
az1103 replied to Semi-retired's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The fairing must be split to change bulb. If you turn the handlebar to the right and try to stick your hand through, you will be blocked by the adjustment knob. If you do it from the right you will be blocked by a cable and a harness. Even after you split the fairing you will need to undo all three screws holding the headlight to get at the bulb... Sorry, but it's not a 15 minute job.... -
And one more thing, You say at 1/3 throttle it wont accelerate.... That would indicate you have no tach..... But do it again and at the point where it luggs pull the choke - just a tweak. If it's starved it will accelerate if it's rich it will miss and drop off. If it does either severely it's in the fuel delivery or carbl - not electrical.

Start the bike, warm it up to where you are off the choke, put your left palm behind the left pipe your right behind the other . Compare pulsing, does it feel th same? Smell your palms - does one smell more like gas than the other? Have someone raise the idle while you are doing this, any change? You mention you enriched the idle, why? Did you do that yourself? Do you have the tools to check synch? It's a 10 min job and might answer a lot. Have a tach? Is it throbing? Sounds like more questions than answers but if you havent gone through those yet it might help....

Like he said, except I would say "stealer not dealer".!!! Run-don't walk to another guy! This is the kind that won't honor a waranty! Just another small time crook!!!

RSV Trunk Organizer from CruzCraft

Unfortunately, the online catalog incorrectly shows a picture of some bags instead of the organizer, also it happens to be out of stock till the end of the month. The saddlebag lid organizers are in stock though and are actually a good value at $ 39 for the pair. -
Probably not the best solution... those little FM transmitters get constant interference not just from stations but also at intersections from the electrical equip., near power stations, sub-stations, and even bad ignition in adjoining cars.

The difference is that over there you can cross the whole country on that one tank. In Calif you won't go too long on that.....

They look good James, and BTW there are several sport bikes which have 3 and even 4 relatively equal size lights (several models of BMW included) . So at what point they become illegal is not that clear....Personally, I can relate to need for more light up front.

Got them ordered, but the price is way up $69 a pair!

Just put aN SWR meter on mine and found that messing with it only tended to make it worse. I don't know if the optimum tuning was just fortuitous but lengthening even by half a mm made it noticeably worse. When I unlocked the setscrews it was bottomed out, so just to see, I filed about 1mm off the bottom and bottomed it out. The SWR went up noticeably. Put it back to where it was and it settled at about 1.7 which is the best it would do. So the dealer may have been right, even if accidentally....

I had XM prior to purchasing the Garmin 550 so it is a separate unit. The Garmin XM unit is big, uggly as sin and expensive. Plus the separate unit is removable and I use it in 3 of my cars and it is much more complete in terms of info and control than the Garmin. Now, if you try to just plug both units in the aux with a splitter it won't work. The overall impedance drops, the sound becomes crap and neither system works well. So initialy I put a switch in the system and when I wanted satelite I switched one way, and when I wanted to hear the Garmin I switched the other way. Worked OK but the switch ennoyed me. So then I soddered-up a mixer circuit which allowed me to listen to both together relatively well. But the output of the XM unit (not just this one but all of them) is much lower than the output of other sources, since it always depends on external amplification, and that makes it difficult to balance with the Garmin. So the Mix-it solved all of that by a filtered internal amplifier as well as a mixer. BTW it also gives you two mono inputs which you can use for lets say a radar detector or whatever . One of these is a priority input which means that when it senses a signal it quiets all other sources. So conceivably you could use that for a cell phone if you weren't using Bluetooth as I am.

These days I find that most products rarely come-up to what's advertised. But today I installed a Mix-It2, so that I could hear my satelite radio and the Garmin at the same time without an overall reduction in sound volume and quality, and without having to use a switch. Not only does this thing work as advertised but it has taken all static out of the system and improved the sound quality. And not just on the XM but overall! I am not generally easy to satisfy, so when I find a product that truly exceeds expectations I figure they deserve a little word of mouth advertising. www.mixitproducts.com

No but seriously, the controller should recognize it if it is properly connected. So the first thing I would do is check for a bad connection.

Paint it red and throw it away?

The one fairly obvious advantage of a boat radio is that it's waterproof. From what I've seen of 1st gens, that would be the only waterproof thing on it?
