Decided not to buy 2007 venture
az1103 replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not true, I havent financed a bike or car in a loooong time. And don't intend to ever again...... If you can't buy it cash you can't afford it is right, particularly for a bike! -
*** FREE*** N.G. Scenic Highways & Byways book

Same here, it's a totally different publication.... But the price is right! -
It seems to me we have the same situation with the Venture! Who makes something for the RSV except Yama - and I wouldn't call it inexpensive! although, occasionally, cheap....I do see your point about "out dated" after all who but Yama has such state of the art cassette players! The Kawi Nomad has been arround since 99, If you want an exhaust system or chrome doo-dads "virtually every accessory manufacturer will have something for it" . Almost the same can be said for the RSV by changing just one word "virtually every accessory manufacturer will have nothing for it". And It's been around a looong time.......

Sounds like the paint you used is different base than what you have on there now. Not all paints are compatible. Essentially your new paint is stripping the old.

All you have to do is pull the battery , one allen screw on back. Wait about ten seconds and reinstall. Turn on and it will keep going without any data loss.

He may not be too humble, but he is right on all points!

Can you expound on that a bit? I am curious, arent annuities uninsured? I have a relatively small one I started with American Express years ago. Then they merged with someone and then passed it onto some Life Ins outfit called River Source. Anyhow, I don't ever remember seeing that there was any insurance on it? Or are annuities protected in some other way?

Nice way to get some e-mail addresses! What a crock of s**t !!!

You are lucky! At least it quit suddenly! Just get a new one! It's worse when they starp slowly dying and letting you down over and over. But why $150 Last I looked you could do well for half of that!

We went to buy a wing. But after going back and forth between the two for over an hour, the wife said she likes the RSV better because the seat is more comfortable and it looks like a motorcycle. I said I didn't like the footpegs because I don't like perching like a canary and not too crazy about the ocean of plastic. We took home the RSV, and would do it again.

Testy......but right-on....

I somehow don't see myself doing too much touring with that trunk or these bags. Sorry, but the RSV is a touring bike.
-
That would totally turn me off!!!! Do you suggest they put the seat at 34 inches too ? And cover it with oceans of plastic?

The "tupperware" sticks out too far to comfortably rest my feet on the heads But it's the latest in German engineering, in conformance to Euro-styling !!

You mean you didn't buy their $129.95 cup holder?

My wife noticed one on the road about 3 weeks ago and asked me what it was. Itried to catch up but trafic got in the way. Looked good.... And yes, from the side looks more RSV than HD.

Water Pump Knock??
az1103 replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My vote vould be that it's the gear.... At $11.25 you bet it's plastic and if it chipped or wore-out and wabbles - that would knock. See Item 4 -
Wonder how the brakes work? I can see some serios faceplants!

Sooo....as I was reading the specs for that new Kawi I couldn't help but remember all those wishes expressed on this site....... So how many of you are now ready to line up wallet in hand? Not only did they seem to listen to your wishes but even surpass them in some cases, like that smart ABS that turns into conventional at low speed - must say, that sure got to me. No nose dipping at stops and no skidding...WOW!!!!! I figgure if all the reviews were putting the Nomad above HD & Victory, then this thing ought to leave them in a dust cloud! WOW, I'm excited!:happy65:

I must be getting old.......

The V twin part may be hard to live with after the RSV but doable, and the waranty is not something I would worry much about - in 10 years of ownership my Nomad NEVER saw a dealer! NEVER had a problem. But for non-believers they offer up to 48 mo extended coverage. These folks are no "Motor CO", they know what they are doing and take pride in their manufacturing. I just hope to see a "made in Japan" label on that thing. That would sure do it for me.....
