Sorry to hear of your trouble. No hail in N.E. Arkansas lately, but we have plenty of flooding and thunderstorms going on. But after all, this is the Natural State.

Loved that post. Think I just got my "ice cream" for the day. Thanks :happy65::happy65:

My dealer wasn't quite as open as to say no, just wouldn't give me a time to bring my 1st Gen in. Said somethinq about a lot of warranty work they had to do. I got lucky. I found a private shop that was more than willing to work on it and at a reasonable rate too. Good luck finding one of those though.

Where have all the 1st gens gone?
Ozark replied to 91nwl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah, all these guys are really "bad dudes" on the site, giving each other all kinds of static about 1st Gen or 2nd Gen. But go on a ride and everything just seems to even out. The first Gen's lead the way and the 2nd Gens just naturally ease to the back. :stirthepot: Redneck would really like a 1st Gen if he wasn't 6'14" tall. I actuall saw him sit on one once. Had to hang is legs out the side to clear the fairing. No camera on hand, but a sight to behold. :rotf: -
I think the whole political party has went to pot since the "Wigs" lost the elections in the late 1700's, or there abouts. I think the creators of the "National Lampoon" series of movies has switched to being political advisers. They should go back to the movies!!!!! Now go ahead and laugh. I know Bill didn't mean nothin serious, did ya? :whistling: :confused24:

Since I doubt that Gerald would be interested in moving to Florida or Texas, I think it would be good for him to consider "Gun Control" i.e. Gun control is hitting what you're aiming at. If someone breaks into my house while we are at home, they would definitely be "armed" before the police arrive to remove the body.

Like most have said, use it. I've been using an auxilary kerosene heater for years at my house. Never had to throw any away because it wouldn't burn well.

That's because we all like AllanH. :rotf::rotf:

Twenty-nine degrees in Northeast Arkansas this morning. I just wish the doctor would okay riding today. I've been couped up in this house for two months. Short ride would definitely pick up my spirits. Oh well, spring is just around the corner. Hope to see much more of the group this year. Jim & Patricia

Like the others, don't quite know what to say. Maybe I should just say "Happy New Year" to all the VentureRider family. Jim & Patricia

where is the cooland drain plug?
Ozark replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I hope some of the guys will chime in here with some good advice. Be careful when draining the coolant. The small plastis nob turns, but if you pull it out, there is a ballbearing that will come out with it. Lots of post in past about losing it and looking for a replacement. Muffinman, chime in an help the brother. -
Wow!! I hope they have industrial size airsick bags on board. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:

That's why "You the Man!" I like the way you express yourself in a quiet, low key manner. Got me wondering though, just where is this place. I know a couple more that need to visit there. :cool10:

Eck, just a note of warning for you and everyone East of the Mississsippi, L.A. Pryor is on the move. Left my house at 4:30 this morning heading your way. Get the coffee pot started. You may have to make him shave that scraggly thing he called a beard off before you let him around the family. I would have, but I was just too tired.:rotf::rotf: I got a two hour nap while he and Pat talked and then we all went to sleep. Good Luck

My 2nd Gen is sick...
Ozark replied to Cerviperus's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm not tje mechanic many of these guys are, but it does sound like the choke could be the problem. Could also explain low mileage. Just my two cents worth. -
My bike had a standard windshield when I got it, but it was pretty badly scratched. Replaced it with a tall shield. I can't tell a lot of difference in the wind buffeting me. I'm 6'-2" and the standard height seemed to be directly in my line of sight. With the taller shield, I have trouble looking over it when it's raining. Hey, if you buy the tall shield and you don't like it, just start cutting. Good Luck

Anyone use these
Ozark replied to tiny84's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a set on my bike. They were on it when I bought it. Look nice and don't get too hot in the sun, but I always wear gloves. They're not as comfortable as foam grips, but no real discomfort after several hours in the saddle. Hope this helps some. -
It was too hot to get close to the first time. I'll investigate more fully now that I have it at home. Thank you, Jim

Got up early this morning and started bleeding the hydraulic clutch. Man that old stuff was really nasty looking. Probably took me 1 1/2 hrs to get all the old fluid and air bubbles out but got it done. Took it for a ride and everything went well until we stopped to eat. My bike got a new sickness and belched the radiator dry. I was lucky that the place had a garden hose I could use. Drove it home and it didn't run hot, but still left a nice little puddle of antifreeze on the ground. What give guys, thermostat perhaps. Again, thanks for all the help. Jim

If you three guys agree, it must be the way to go. Sounds like a good plan for tomorrow night and ride some on Wednesday to verify the fix. I do appreciate all the help. :happy34: Might not make Fort Collins, but should see some of you at Vogel or E.S. Looking forward to riding together again. Jim

Thanks for the input Jeff. I didn't have them replace all the fluids. I don't know how hard it is to change out the lines, but it sounds like bleeding them first just to check might not be a bad idea. What do you think? By the way, just wanted to say thank you for all the help you've offered me and others on this site.

I know some of you can help me with this. Clutch started acting up on a ride Saturday. When I left town all was well, but as time went on, the play in the clutch lever steadily increased. It got to the point that it would disengage about 1/4" from the handgrip. Fearing it would get worse I returned home and topped off the reservoir. This morning while is was cool it seemed a little better. On the way home after work, I had almost no release left. I actually needed to blip the throttle to help it shift up or down. It's not slipping at all, just not releasing soon enough for comfort. Could it be air has gotten into the line somehow. It hasn't been dropped, but it was completely service recently. I would have expected any problems from the servicing to show up immediately though. All help is needed and appreciated. Jim
