I run the Avon Venoms on my first gen and have no problems, period. Good ride and good handling. I may have accidentally ridden slightly faster then 80 mph, but not every day. Also have new fork brace and it is awesome.

CLASS Connector Problem
Ozark replied to keikat02's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have read the posts before and know what needs to be done. I also know my limitations. If I get within arms length with a soldering gun, everything melts. Would anyone be willing to do this for me? I have an extra unit I can send and would be willing to compensate you for it. -
Fuel capacity
Ozark replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My guage starts blinking around 160 miles and from there on it's my wife "tapping" me on the shoulder to "remind" me that we are low on gas. Ain't that considerate of her?? -
Do you need them rebuilt or just recovered? I have a link at home to have the seat redone with memory foam, gel pads, etc. it that is what you need.

Am I nuts or what?
Ozark replied to algie1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Someone has already mentioned checking the connections at the CLASS controller first. That's easy. Sometimes you just have to fiddle with them a little. One thing to watch for, air the front suspension up first. It runs on a lot lower pressure and you don't want to be blowing seals in the front end. Enjoy. -
I was on my way home from Indy in my car yesterday and was glad I wasn't on my bike. I don't know how you kept it in your lane!! Glad to see you made it through okay. Our hometown in N.E. Arkansas took a beating with lots of trees blown over, shingle ripped off, and sheds blown down. I just lost a few large limbs and several small one so we faired okay.

That really is good news. Saw your post on the E.R. Rally and really hope you can make it. I know all of them want to see you two. I'll be in Indy, but we are still keeping all of you in our prayers. Jim & Patricia

Looks like lots of good things going on that week. My wife and I are coming up on Thursday and will be going to the Indy Mile Flat Track Race on Saturday. Looks like we'll have plenty to do both days. Now if the rain will just hold off a few more day...

Tire Recommendation for 86 Venture
Ozark replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Put Avon "Venoms" on my '88 and can't imagine going with anything else. Couldn't believe how much better the bike handled. It just feels like it's glued to the rode and very stable in the twisties. Now I'm not one that's going to scrape anything in the curves on purpose, but I am really impressed with these tires. -
Cut me off, lady...come on, I dare ya! Cut me off!!
Ozark replied to Semi-retired's topic in General Tech Talk
That sounds like a really good idea. I'm all thumbs when it comes to electrical connections, but can get it done if someone will show me the way. I'd definitely like to have new "LOUD" horns. -
It's now official. If you've dropped a Venture, you're definitely part of this club. I think it is an unwritten requirement for membership. Happpens to all of us. Let us know when you get all of the "Ride Like a Pro" demonstration mastered. Welcome aboard.

I was thinking maybe "crash bars" could help. Just a thought. Glad to see you are going forward as a family. You continue to be in our prayers and thoughts.

Like they said, absolutely ride your ride. If they are friends, they'll understand and wait for you. If not, find some friends to ride with who share you idea of what a good ride is.

Sorry to hear of your problem Squidley, but incontinence is just another sign of getting OLD ! ! , at least that's what Redneck told me. :rotf:

Center Stand Help
Ozark replied to pilothawk's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe a small piece of carpet or even a shop towel under the centerstand would help. -
I know some swear at the Venom tires, but I swear by them. Much better by fart on my 1st gen. Doesn't even feel like the same bike. :happy65:
-
Kind of neat isn't it. Funny though, they called us a riding club, and we all know we just ride so we can get something to eat, ain't that so Squidley??
-
Don't worry, this group will always call you "family":happy65:

LED's, my feeble attempts.
Ozark replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nice looking installation. I need to add more lights to mine, but no rear bumper. Kind of have a plan, but planning is easier than doing. Good Job!! -
If she can see the places you've stop, you may be under more than house arrest. You may end up under that house. :rotfl:

Must not be. They let him go back and forth all the time!!:rotfl:
