  1. I think Dunlop has changed something on the 404 fronts. I have used them exclusively on both my RSVs and have lost track of how many sets I have bought but traditionally got about 12000 miles on a set. The last two sets I bought, the front tire has gone only to about 8000 to 10000. The rear tire was still very good. Before this I always wore the back tire out first.
  2. @Carbon One Larry, it was 2007. A year I will never forget.
  3. Still using a 1978 Ariens.
  4. Poudre Canyon ride today
  5. Here are a few pictures. Garmin is showing altitude over 12000'.
  6. Went to Estes Park, the Stanley Hotel, Rocky Mtn. Natn'l. Park visitors centre today. And just like 2007 it snowed when we got up there. Remembering Squid getting altitude sickness up there too. We also went to Golden to taste some Coors right from the tap but just when we got there in time for the last tour of the day the sky turned black. We ended up high tailing it back to Fort Collins on the interstate at rush hour. Poudre Canyon to Walden for lunch tomorrow.
  7. I know, I know. I'll post pictures when I get them.
  8. Mary and I decided to break in the new Space Shuttle with a trip to Colorado. We are at the Lakeside KOA in Fort Collins. Head quarters of the 2007 International Rally. Looking forward to reliving some of the great times I had here in 2007.
  9. Glad you are relatively ok Gary.
  10. If you check out this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?11648-Fishtails-or-Sharkfins&highlight=fishtail+tips and scroll down to #16 there are some pics of how I did mine. The part number for the HD tips I used is in that thread too. I'm sure there are many other tips available from HD that will work with a little help.
  11. Re packed mine a couple of times. HD tips can be make to work too. I like the sound after re packing but it never seems to last for long.
  12. Guess our video got left on the cutting room floor so get well soon Dan and hope you're back on the road very soon. Gary & Mary.
  13. WOW! I'm sure glad you are OK. There's a good lesson in this for all of us.
  14. It was a hot and toasty ride most of the way home. We took the long way home right along the lake as much as possible and stopped to take our rain gear off before we got to Toledo. When we got to Detroit I stopped to gas up and the sky was turning black. The closer to the bridge the blacker it got so I decided to seek shelter under a gas station canopy on Fort street about a mile from the bridge. It poured buckets while we were putting our rain gear back on but we stayed dry in the gas station. When it let up a bit we took off thinking we'll probably have a long wait in border traffic but when we got to CDN Customs there was no one in line and we drove right to the booth. Home about 6:30.
  15. Though you were coming to MD. Missing your happy face here.
  16. Mary and I won't be meeting you guys on I-75 as we are heading down tomorrow to do some sight seeing.
  17. I'm starting to wish I was bringing the space shuttle.
  18. I've had to replace the cable that runs from under the front fairing and gas tank to the back of the bike on two different RSVs due to being pinched and worn near the head stock. In both cases the problem showed up as and issue with the passenger headset. If you swap headset positions and the problem persists then you know it's not the headset.
  19. Your yard looks great Don. I may regret not bringing the space shuttle this year.
  20. We've been in all four corners of North America and we've been on some awesome roads but The Top of the World Hwy. is one we'll never forget and one that we always talk about.
  21. We're coming down. This year without the space shuttle. Thinking about visiting the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield (Shawshank Redemption) on the way down. http://www.mrps.org/
  22. We might hook up with you guys, unless we leave a couple days sooner. Thinking of doing the Ohio State Reformatory prison tour (Shawshank Redemption) in Mansfield on the way down. Anyone care to join us for this? "Get busy live'n' or Get busy die'n"
  23. Don't forget to chamfer all the holes on both sides using a larger drill or chamfering tool to prevent cracks.
  24. I've hauled my RSV thousands of miles. Use a rocker style wheel chock, soft straps around the handle bars near the risers as possible then ratchet strap towards front and side of bike to clear fairing. Don't use mickey mouse straps, they stretch. Pull the front forks down a couple of inches evenly on both sides. I also use straps from the passenger floor boards toward front and side using the same floor attachment point as the front straps. Then cross strap at the rear lower saddle bag/trailer hitch mount. I've never bent my handle bars or had the bike move.
  25. This is an old post from last year. Mine are sold.
