0.99 / litre = app. $3.75 / US gallon if the dollar is at par or about $4.50 / Imp. gallon The GST rebate for visitors was eliminated a while ago I believe. Just saw that on the news this week.

Too bad Jerry. It's only about 550 miles for you. That's just a nice day trip. Probably never get that close again.

I haven't got a clue??? I think they are about $6 or $7. Last time I bought some they where 0.50 a pack.

All you American members who are planning to come up to Canada next summer for the VR rally be prepared. 1) Just about everything costs more up here especially gas (about $3.75/US gallon right now) and most better quality hotels/motels. What you guys typically pay $50 for expect to pay $80 - $100. 2) Beer and other alcoholic type beverages cost twice as much or more than in the U.S. Likewise for cigarettes. 3) Your U.S. dollar, as of today was trading at or very close to par with our CDN dollar. By next summer it could cost you to by CDN dollars so you might want to buy some up now before the exchange advantage goes to far the other way, as predicted. Don't want to scare anyone away, just want you to be aware if you aren't already. Our bikes already whine enough:rotf:

Carl, I had to have my gallbladder removed. I don't know if there is that much cutting actually involved. More of a vacuum cleaner type deal I think. 3 holes for the TV camera etc. and 1 hole for the vacuum???

Good Luck Larry, hope everything goes well for you. We'll be thinking of you.

Thanks for the get well wishes everyone. I got home from the hospital at 10:00pm tonight. Everything went pretty much as they said it would. I haven't had anything for pain since 3:00 pm and so far haven't felt the need for any. I'm not supposed to do much including ride the bike for a couple of weeks. Not doing much comes easy, not riding the bike, not so easy. Gambler and Eck, I really like the idea of you guys cleaning and polishing my bike. Not sure I want a guy who's use to a 1st gen riding my bike though. Look what happened when Charlie borrowed Squid's. So since Gambler is closer he can do the cleaning and polishing and have it ready for Eck when he gets here. But I'll bet that I will be able to ride it by the time he gets here so we'll all just have to go for a ride, eat some food and drink some beer.

Good to hear Brad. I'm sure everything will be fine as long as you stay out of the kitchen.

I tried to answer your PM but your mail box is full and won't accept anymore messages. You need to delete a few old ones. I also tried to send by E-mail but you have that disabled too. Let me know when you clean house and I'll reply again.

Low threshold for pain there Bob???...LOL I thought the Bub's sounded fine before I repacked them. Now Mama likes them too. You haven't heard loud until you've ridden a Roadie with V&H Longshots.

Yesterday I finally got around to re-packing my Bub mufflers. When I did the HD fishtail mod I found that all of the original packing had long gone and with the new tips there was now a 1/4" gap all around the rear baffle plate. I found this packing on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-x-38-MOTORCYCLE-EXHAUST-MUFFLER-PACKING-WRAP_W0QQitemZ140148216528QQihZ004QQcategoryZ35573QQcmdZViewItem I pulled the baffles back out and I was able to use 1/2 of a sheet and get about 3 wraps on each baffle. I used some high heat RTV silicone to fill the gap left around the rear baffle plate. The muffs now have a deeper tone and are a lot quieter when cruising but still sound good when getting on the throttle. Here's a link to the post about the HD fishtail install. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=114428#post114428

Scott, Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you're OK. Don't be too quick to sign off with her insurance. Might be a good idea to talk to a lawyer too. Hope you find the parts you need or maybe get enough pain and suffering cash to get a 2nd gen. -
CB can hear but not transmit
Gary N. replied to jonesy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well guess what guys, since my last post on this subject I've had my antenna replaced and the CB replaced again and it still doesn't work. Now they're waiting for another CB to try but Clarion says that they're back ordered. The last time I was at the dealer they swapped out my defective CB for one in a customers bike and the problem followed the CB. Using my mic I could transmit from his bike to mine using his CB and when we put his CB into my bike I could transmit from my bike. But when my CB was in his bike it wouldn't transmit again. The funny (peculiar) thing is that the replacement (refurbished) CB from Clarion did exactly the same thing. Bare in mind this is now the third or fourth replacement CB from Clarion. When my original problem occurred with the ERror message on the controller they kept swapping out components but the actual problem turned out to be a bad cable. So my original CB was actually Ok but it has long since been sent back to Clarion. I figure I've put on about 1000 kms running back and forth to the dealers for this problem and it's not really their fault. They're doing everything in their power to get my bike fixed but dealing with Clarion and Yamaha is a real pain. I will be calling Yamaha to voice my concern and unhappiness. Not that, that will do much good but the dealer said the complaint it better coming from me than them. -

Barons slip-ons or Bub slip-ons?
Gary N. replied to Bartley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
To my tin ear the Khromewerks have a little louder and deeper tone. I have solved the peeling chrome issue on my Bubs by replacing the tips with HD fishtail tips. My next project is to re-wrap the baffles. The HD tips allow for about a 3/16" - 1/4" space around the rear baffle plate which has increased the sound level enough that Mama has been complaining. It sounds real nice from the back of the bike but it starts to get on you after a few hours. -

6 litres / 100 kms. or 37.5 miles / U.S. gal. or 45 miles / Imp. gal. Take your pick. -

Hi Rick, Just wondering if these trip master gauge pods were injection molded plastic of fiberglass? Shouldn't be hard to duplicate in fiberglass if someone wanted too. Just need one to use for a mold. I'll bet there would be a good market for them if someone wanted to tool up and get ambitious. Maybe Steve Wagner would be interested in adding to his product line.

Leonard, You may want to give Bead Rider, http://www.beadrider.com/ seat beads a try. They are a cheap alternative to the high price after market seats that are out there. As long as you don't mind what they look like. I found that they solved the problem for me.
