Including long dead, cooked and canned beef. I don't know what all you folks are going to eat when you come to Canada next summer. Seems it's against the law for you to eat our beef and for us to eat Canadian beef in the U.S. But Rhubarb should should still be in season about when you get here.

Bobbie, that's my favourite pie. And I only get about one a year, in season, because I'm the only one in the house who likes them. They're good with strawberries too. Yum! Wish it wasn't so far to go.

My tire guy gave me a hard time about the size too. He finally did install it after I signed a waver. You need to try this for yourself but I'm not overly impressed with the high speed handling of this tire and think I'll be going back to the stock size next time. Slow speed handling is very good, like everyone said.

What are the odds of getting the whine? 100% They all have it. Strait cut gears make noise. Will you be able to hear it? That's the $64000 question. It all depends on the gear tolerances on your bike and what type of hearing protection and or helmet you wear. ie: full face will be quieter than 3/4 or 1/2 helmet.

Lift adapter sketch???
Gary N. replied to odysse68's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Was this it? But I didn't copy Larry's. It's strictly a product of my own imagination and spare bits of scrap steel in my shop. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2084&highlight=lift+adaptor- 10 replies

You're my test bed Lou....LOL I'm thinking you might have the best of both worlds. Nice and sticky rear and good handling at hwy. speeds on the front. Maybe the leveling links to help with low speed handling would make it perfect. I know that would be a problem for someone of your stacher though. But I never had much of an issue with low speed handling with the stock size front tire.

I've worn out 3 sets of 404's. The original black walls and 2 sets of WWW's. I got 14000 miles on the first two sets and 12000 on the last but they would have gone at least another couple of thousand or more. I changed them out because we were heading for the mountains and I wanted fresh rubber. I'm currently running Avon WWWs but unless the mileage is quit a bit better than the 404s I'll probably be going back to Dunlop. Or I may go with the Avon rear and Dunlop front in order to stay with the WWW. I'm not overly impressed with the smaller front tire at highway speeds.

Hey Mike, I just had a look at your set up and was wondering if you are still able to open your bag lids without hitting the fenders on the Voyager kit? Just curious. The bike and trailer look great.

Kieth, I can't give any advice on a trailer but just for comparison purposes, I was at Hully Gully on Sat. and they had a really nice looking luggage trailer in there for $2800. 12" aluminium wheels, LED lighting and lots of cargo room. From the side it had the shape of a scaled down tear drop camper from the '40s. I think the tag said Via trailers ???

I really hate to think that a member here would do this to the captain of the ship. Hope they make it right for you Don. You sure don't deserve this. I hate banks too. I quit dealing with them 30 years ago and joined a local credit union. I didn't realize that the charge for NSF cheques was the responsibility of the person the cheque was written too. I always figured it went back on the person who wrote the cheque in the first place. But, I guess you can't get blood out of stone.

Question about Canadian RSVs
Gary N. replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The KPH is printed on top just like your MPH. Where yours says 120 (if that's your hightest number?) ours say 180. -
Pitbull, Here's a real good web site for Road Star info if you haven't already found it. I sure learned a lot on there. Some pretty smart mechanics there and some good deals on used parts too. http://forums.delphiforums.com/1602/start

How about incorporating a pair of crossed CDN and U.S. flags into the design. Maybe over the picture of the Ontario map or a Venture bike. I don't know how to draw it but here's something I found as an idea. http://www.crossedflags.com/themes/0ri0n/images/logo.png

This is all nothing new. I've lived near a border town all my life and I'm old enough to remember when the U.S. dollar was worth only $0.95 CDN. The Americans would come in the gas station where I was working and cry like babies because our gas was 0.45 / IMP gallon and I had to discount their dollars 5%. Their gas at home was about 0.25 / U.S. gallon I think. I remember my grandmother taking the tunnel bus to go shop at Hudson's in Detroit. My Dad said she did this even back in the '30s. The price of cars in the U.S. back in the '60s was 25% to 50% less than here. Most things have always been more money in Canada. I think as long as we all are willing to bend over and take it we'll continue to pay more. I won't be buying any new cars or bikes but I do need a new roof. I wonder if any of those Mexicans now running our border know how to do roofing? May as well put a few more Canadians out of work.

EBay sellers could face Canadian tax scrutiny
Gary N. replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
This doesn't surprise you does it? Our tax dollars at work, finding more tax dollars. -
Retired at age 49 with a golden hand shake (not expected) and company pension. I did plan on retiring young so invested accordingly. Best advice is to get a good financial advisor and read the book "The wealthy Barber. They should make that book part of the High School curriculum.

I don't know what "Mordita" is???? But I do know on most items purchased in the U.S. THERE IS NO "CUSTOMS DUTY" or "IMPORT FEES". NAFTA eliminated most duties. That's part of the reason we're losing most of our mfg. jobs to Mexico, China etc. but that's another topic. If you are shipping via UPS, FedEx or some other courier than the buyer is having to pay their (UPS, FedEx etc.) brokerage fees plus provincial and federal sales taxes. The sales taxes are paid at the retail point of purchase or if you're importing than you pay either at the border or post office or courier depending on how you bring it in. USPS still remains the least expensive way to have anything shipped from the States.

Nothing is really "FREE" Dan. Over 50% of our pay cheques go for taxes of some sort. Income, property, sales tax, health care, etc., etc. As far as social benefits,, I wish someone would tell me what these are. It's easier for somebody to arrive at our boarder, claim he's a refugee and get all kinds of help ($$$) than it is for a tax paying citizen. In recent years the gov't. has downloaded everything back to regional and local gov'ts. and it's becoming a user pay system. I'm not totally against this but my tax bill hasn't gotten any lower. I love this country and don't think I'd want to live anywhere else (except in the winter) but it's not the utopia some people seem to think it is. I'm done now.

The clicking when you first start it is normal. That's the electric fuel pump. Sorry I can't help with the CD player problem.

All good info. I'm a firm believer in the modulating headlight as a safety item and think it should be factory installed on all bikes. I know it's saved my life more than once. The cagers see that flashing bright light and say whoa what the heck is that.

How much noise is normal?
Gary N. replied to ventureblue's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There seems to be a lot of variables. Full face helmet, 3/4 or 1/2 all make a difference to the sound level. Loud pipes and music or ear plugs can mask some of the engine / trans / clutch / tire or rear end sounds. I think the windshield height can also make a difference too. If you use the stock height shield you probably hear more of the mechanical sounds then with a shorter shield. Just by turning your head left or right changes the tone of the mechanical sounds too.
