  1. Reiny, do you still have your handle bar weights?
  2. The Indian V twin is very smooth but very HOT! I wouldn't have a problem with a cool, smooth V Twin. I don't care if it's air or liquid cooled, as long as it's cool. I don't remember a heat problem on my Road Star but it was a paint shaker.
  3. I read on a Indian forum that true dual exhaust (no cat), EFI fuel controller (richen mixture), 20-50 synthetic oil with high flow filter, Indian high flow air filter and a Captain Itch leather crotch cooler http://shop.captain-itch.com/1-INDIAN-crotch-cooler-plain-black-or-tan-leather-1-Indian-cc-plain.htm all help to solve the heat problem. Nothing more $$$s can't fix.
  4. We finally got the chance to road test an Indian Road Master. It was a brand new 2017 with 2 miles on it. The only issue we had was the extreme heat from the right side exhaust. Really bad for the passenger. It's worse in slow or stop and go traffic and better once you get going down the road. I've seen others speak of this issue too, so I guess it's nothing new. I don't know if there's an after mkt. cure for this problem or not. Other then that I really like the bike and wouldn't have a problem parking one in my garage. Slow speed handling is awesome. Low seat height made it easy to flat foot at stops. No funny noises. Never had a chance to get to 6th gear so can't talk about that. Tried 5th at 40 mph and no problem to speed up without a down shift. Lots of low end torque. I'd have to have the heal and tow shifter added. Mary was a little cramped on the back but there is a bit of adjustment on the rear floor boards so that might help. And it wouldn't be hard to make another bracket to move them forward. It has a quick release trunk so I'd have to take a closer look at that to see if it could be moved back or not but I think it's possible with a few new holes. As expected the factory accessories are very expensive... what else is new? Just dreaming at this point but I won't say I would never own one. Not riding as much anymore so that's part of it. CDN $$$ exchange rate is a killer right now too.
  5. Bob, look for Sherry Patterson-Jarrett on face book. She used to be very active on here before Tom was killed.
  6. Fines don't seem to work....maybe smashing their damn phones would do the trick. In Ontario if you are caught speeding 50 km/h (30 m/h) over the speed limit they confiscate your vehicle and you get a big fine and lose your licence. They should do the same thing for using the phone....The risk is probably worse of something happening with the phone in your hand then speeding.
  7. There should be a jamming device that won't let the phone work when the car is in gear.
  8. I had to replace the main cable that runs from under the fairing to the back fender on two different RSVs due to a pinched or worn spot at the steering head. There was no physical damage evident but by wiggling the cable the intercom would cut in and out. Mine showed up as issues with the intercom system but any wire could be damaged in the bundle.
  9. Nope! With somebody holding the bike upright, lift up and down on the kick stand, when it's extended. There shouldn't be any, or very little movement. If so replace the bushing and maybe the bolt too.
  10. Sounds like you need a new bolt and bushing. I replaced mine a couple of years ago. Can't remember the price but not too expensive.
  11. Dave, I don't know if this might help or not. My CB hasn't worked for a couple of years but last weekend after the bike sitting out in the hot sun with the bike cover on it for a few days, the CB started working again. I'm guessing there was some moisture somewhere that finally dried up. Probably be ok until the next wash job. Sounds like your problem is caused from moisture to but I've had to replace the main cable that goes from the front fairing under the tank to the back seat due to a break near the head bearings.
  12. And that my friends is why I spend the winter in Hill Country!
  13. Tell him you'll give him pepperettes. That should make him happy. Pulling for you buddy!
  14. Some of my fellow Space Shuttle friends are using something called "Rejex". I found it for a not on sale price at the airport next door to you. Put some on the bike and front of the Space Shuttle last week. Jury is still out but it goes on easy peezee.
  15. The link works for me. Google Mountain master bike loader.
  16. To get back on topic, if you have a long bed truck, have you thought of a bike lift for the truck bed and towing a camper trailer behind on the bumper hitch? This is the one I bought http://www.mountainmaster.net/motorcycleloadingsystem.html This could be done with a 1/2 ton truck easily, depending on the size of the trailer.
  17. Here's a picture of the '32 Ford on the back of the '46 Chevy and a'38 Chevy gasser I used to have. The '46 had an Isuzu diesel and would pull great with the 4.11 gears.
  18. I rode a buddy's for about an hour. Couldn't wait to get off. Lets just say they're not made for old fat guys with bad knees. A young slim fellow like you might love it.
  19. We've upgraded a bit.
  20. My first bike hauler and camper. Worked great.
  21. The stock antennas just unscrew from the mount. I replaced mine with these http://www.antennax.com/p-4729-2-eurostyle-13-inch-antenna-masts-harley-davidson.aspx My CB doesn't work so I don't know if this new antenna will work on the CB but it works fine on the AM/FM. I had to turn some aluminium down in the lathe to make adaptors for the new antennas.
  22. You could remove the filter and dump it out. Probably just about the right amount. Keep the level 1/2 way between the lines on the sight glass or you'll be seeing drips under the bike.
  23. I think the "I" version fits better and has less whine.....
  24. Full coverage with State Farm (Certus) $1125. Multi vehicle discount, retiree. Too much money and probably not enough coverage. Liberal gov't keeps making them lower rates and they do that by taking away coverage and/or raising deductibles.
  25. Sure glad to hear you're OK Evan. Hope to see you next week.
