George, I installed one of those on my Roady a few years back. After drilling the holes I put a little black rust paint in the hole to help seal the paint edge a bit. Masking tape on the fender before you drill for sure. I have a spring loaded centre punch that worked well. Be careful using a hammer and punch.

I bought mine here http://www.sierra-mc.com/ I think it was about $20 for the patch cord, if that's what you're looking for.

Welcome aboard. Glad you found us. Lots of folks here know the answers to any question you might have and if we don't know the answer we'll definitely make one up.

Yup, that's one of the issues with using the risers. Won't hurt anything unless you have installed the chrome ring around the switch to replace the rubber one. The chrome one won't give and will crack or the chrome will chip off. I corrected it by installing Flanders G2 bars.

Might stop there on the way back from Alaska?????

I've had it for close to 20 years. Just put the 2nd unit in 2 years ago. It cost a lot to install but the pay back is really good. If I recall the monthly electric bill dropped about $100 with the first furnace and almost that much again with the new and improved model. Bare in mind the electric charges/kwh do keep going up, I'm just not using as much. I only got about 15 years out of the first one. Lucky we had a lot of incentives to install these both times. First one was about $7000 including the ground loop and the 2nd one was about $4000 but they used the same ground loop.

Buddy, thanks for the special delivery. It was great to meet you and have a visit. When I get home and get the bike cleaned up I'll get them on. Can't wait to try them out.

Rear air shock leak
Gary N. replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You do know not to use a compressor to fill the shocks? You need to use a hand pump only. You can pick one up at any HD shop for cheap. -
A few different style seats from the factory too.

Good news Brad. I'm happy for you both.

Toronto to Las Vegas July 3 to 25th any route suggestions or sights
Gary N. replied to dogman's topic in Watering Hole
Wow Dave, that's a tall order. So much to see, so little time. I will say it was fun to tour the strip on the bike at night. Also a nice ride from Vegas over to Lake Mead and down to the Hoover dam. Also Fremont Street at night has a blast. Just pull into one of the casinos' vallet parking and slip the guy a couple of bucks for a good safe place to leave the bike. We used the Fremont Casino valet parking and went in there for the buffet dinner. -
Dave, most on this site who have had the original OEM "Brickstones" will tell you to stay away from them. I'm only talking about the OEM tires, not sure about their other models. That being said about the only other choice for WWWs is the Dunlop 404s. I've had about 6 pair and don't have an issue with them but others don't like them for various reasons. Avon did sell WWWs but I haven't seen them offered from them in a while. Oh, they still show the front available in the 130 size but I haven't seen the rear available from Avon in WWW for quite a while.

I just tried it and got on right away.

My bike had OEM Brickstones when I bought it and I couldn't get them off of there soon enough. Not sure what model or if they're all the same or not but one bad experience was enough for me. You couldn't pay me enough to run them on my bike. And as far as the Metzler's go, there's been too many guys on here with issues for me to spend my money on them. Maybe they fixed the problem but they don't have a good rep. on the RSV. As far as bigger rear tires, I know some have tried it and had rubbing issues.

When ever I sell a vehicle, I make sure before it leaves my possession that the title (ownership papers) are in the new owners name and I have copies of a signed sale agreement. I learnt a lesson the hard way once by selling a car to a fellow I didn't know. It was a cheap car and I just signed the title let him take it. He turned out to be a drunk with no licence and no insurance. A few months later he wrecked the car and totalled someone else's car and guess who the bill collectors came after since the car was still in my name. Lucky for me, I knew a few people who could help me and I did have a signed bill of sale. In Ontario you can transfer ownership without a safety inspection and it's called an unfit title. You can't drive the vehicle until it's inspected and passes. I don't know if they have something similar in Quebec or not. When I sold a truck (with a safety certificate) to a fellow in Edmonton we went to the MTO office and got the title transfered to him and he got a 10 day temporary licence tag to drive it home. He would be responsible for any inspections and taxes in Alberta. I think the title transfer cost was $10 and the temporary tag was $15. He didn't have to pay any Ontario sales tax since it was leaving the province. I don't know how that works in Quebec but I know guys that have bought vehicles in the states and have had to pay the state sales tax to transfer the title to their name and then they have to pay Ontario sales tax when they register it in Ontario. Good luck Charlie. I expect you will transfer the title in Quebec to get it into your name. If you want to drive it home you'll have to get a temporary tag. You will probably need a safety inspection there to get the tag. If you trailer it home you won't need to get an inspection there. You might have to pay Quebec sales tax. When you get it home you'll need an Ontario safety inspection before you can register it in Ontario and get plates plus they'll want their 8% tax too.

Saddlebag rail adjustment.
Gary N. replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just leaned on mine, right on the bike and they went right into place. No extra holes, no crow bars, no vise, no muss, no fuss. And no damage to the chrome. -
"Everything is bigger in Texas" Including the darn stones they use to chip seal the roads. Wow, it's like driving on marbles. I'd forgotten about that since my last trip.

Yes, the tips all will get peeling chrome eventually. I replaced mine with HD fishtails. Loud is a subjective question. What's loud to you may not be loud to me. I like mine with the new packing. Quieter now than when I bought them but still a nice tone IMHO.

No.....but you're going to be sleeping with one..... It's not sooooo bad...LOL Congratulations Scott and Sherry and the new Mom and Dad too!

My oldest son, Matt, was involved with building a RC plane (flying wing) for his 4th year engineering project at the University of Windsor. Here's a link to some info and pictures. http://imageevent.com/sunparlorflyers/universitystudents

Since we're dreaming here, I'd like one of these. 1935 Deusenburg Model SJ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6a/Duesenberg_Convertible_SJ_LA_Grand_Dual-Cowl_Phaeton_1935.jpg/230px-Duesenberg_Convertible_SJ_LA_Grand_Dual-Cowl_Phaeton_1935.jpg

Tom, Sounds similar to one I bought last year at Canadian Tire. They had them on sale for $10. But like you said when they're gone, they're gone. I think they buy them by the container full and then that's it. I'm finding that the Butler mod on my pillow top sits me too low and I feel like I'm sitting on the frame. The cheap gel pad works in the cool weather and the seat bead work in the worm weather. I'd like to give Corbin a try but I know my passenger won't like it and they cost too much to experiment.

Head-Set Pig Tail Holder - Tank Placement ?
Gary N. replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got rid of the holder and pulled the cable back and run it along the left handle bar out to the radio controller and zip tied it there. Nothing touches the tank now.
