Rick, Did you check Princess Auto? I think they carry that too. Don't know about the price though.

The Red Bull air races are the same weekend as Art in the Park this year. It may be hard to find a room at any of the better places unless you have real deep pockets.

I found the easiest way to get it out of the pumpkin is to clamp the shaft in the bench vise (NOT ON THE SPLINES) and give a good tug on the pumpkin. The rubber grease seal is what makes it hard to get out. Re-installing the shaft into the front yoke before installing the pumpkin makes everything much easier too.

That end doesn't actually sit in the "pumpkin oil". Just did mine and it was pretty dry and dirty. I never replaced any seals. There's a big rubber one on the end of the drive shaft that goes into the rear end but it's re-useable unless it gets damaged some way pulling things apart. There's also a big "O"ring on the hub that you'll see when you pull the drive pins out but it's re-useable too, unless damaged.

Caesars casino is only a couple of blocks away from Art in the Park, right on the river and sometimes they have some real good promotions. Check the web site. All of the big name chain hotels are in town too. Lots of good places to eat. Check out Erie Street for little Italy. Wyandotte west for China town. Again all the big name chain restaurants are in town. Not sure if we will still be here then but if we are we could hook up for a M&E. I'm thinking that's the weekend we are heading west.

Don't see a jack on that link. But Larry's adaptor should work with most bike jacks that I've seen.

Don't forget to check your rear brake pads for wear and if not too bad probably flip them side for side so you can get more even wear and longer life out of the inside pad. I do this at every rear tire change and/or about every 10 thousand miles too.

Made my own for less than $20.

Hey Sherry, got room in the driveway for me to park the Space Shuttle and trailer? Or a campground near by would work too. I definitely want to visit that area someday. My son only had a few hours to look around when he was there last week so he drove up the coast and saw the Golden Gate bridge but that was about it. -
Carl, If they write it off you can probably buy it back real cheap if you want to repair it yourself. When my '95 Grand Prix got stolen (about 2002) they wrote it off at $5000.00 and I bought it back for $1000.00 and fixed it myself for $600.00. Just to give you an idea. If there is no structural damage they shouldn't brand the title. If they do it's real hard to get it back on the road. Not impossible just hard.

Charlie, I have a owners manual for an '03. Can't think of anything that would be different other than the colour of the bike. Do you want it?

Dan, To make it as light as possible all I did was make the 1 1/4" tube receiver longer and weld two pieces of 1" tubing onto it to bolt the box too.
-
Thanks George, I'll keep that it mind. Haven't tried it out yet but will soon. Have you installed levelling links? I wonder if that would make a difference? I run my back shock at the max which does raise the back of the bike a bit too. And I've been rebuilding the counter weight for the front seat....

Well I've been out in the shop again. We're getting ready for our trip to Alaska and decided we needed a little more storage room on the bike. I made a receiver hitch and luggage rack and bolted on a 15 gallon Rubbermaid lockable plastic box. A couple of LED trailer lights completed the project. Not too pretty but functional.

Thanks Brian, I haven't planned the route out to Edmonton yet but I'll keep you in mind. We'll be leaving the first week of June sometime. Driving the Space Shuttle to Edmonton then hopping on the bike.

I ended up buying the plastic headlight cover form http://www.ventura-mca.com/products/lightguard.aspx Super fast delivery, USPS 7 days from Washington state to my door and (bonus) no taxes, duties or any other extra charges. Looks good in the package and should do the job.

I just got an e-mail message that my late wife's cousin's husband was involved in an accident in Edmonton on Monday. Another case of a driver making a left turn in front of the bike rider. Be careful out there everyone. Our families don't need the grief. Here's the note. I spent the whole day Tues. at the hospital. He was out of surgery around 1:45 pm. On his way to his room he saw me waiting and gave me a little wave. After 15 minutes of prep I was able to sit next to him. I never spoke to any doctors, none came around while I was there. Tony woke up sometime last night or this morning (April 27) and did not know where he was. He does not recall the accident.. They told him you are in the hospital and you were in a bike accident. He fought to stay awake the whole time I was there and ate a big supper although kept closing his eyes after a few bite and I would say Tony and he would open his eyes and start chewing. He was given a shot for pain, ate well and I left him afterwards. He remembers everything expect the accident. He asked me where it happened and how. Wow!!! The police officer I spoke to said the guy actually stopped as Tony hit him and that saved his life. Thank you Lord !!!!!!!!!! He is also being charged with the accident ( the other guy not Tony). The guy was making a left at the intersection and Tony going straight through. What Tony tells me is that they put a plate in his left wrist as well as his ankle and there are some broken ribs. I want to actually confirm everything with the surgeon Dr. Webber. At one point he said to me " I guess my bike ain't pretty". I said nope and changed the subject. I actually don't even know where it is. The accident happened south of Edmonton closer to International airport in a town called Nisku. I am thinking a towing co, there has it. He has his right wrist wrapped that sustained a gouge of a cut that they stitched and of course his left wrist wrapped. I was amaze at how well he managed to eat by himself although I had to cut his food. He did look fine and his sense of humour was present in a few of our conversations. He was told 6-8 weeks before he can walk. The healing process starts now. He was in good spirits today, just droggy from the meds.

Especially if it's a trike. I was just reading another post and a member was asking about leaving his bike in gear while starting and it brought back a memory for me. We had just left Kerrville Tx. heading home from our fantastic winter trip. After a couple of hours the Shuttle was getting low on jet fuel so I pulled into a truck stop on Hwy. 281 just north of Johnson City at Round Mountain. I get out and say hi to the fellow on the other side of the pump and get started on my fill up. The fellow on the other side gets in his pickup and start to leave but only goes a few feet and I see him jump out of his truck and start running out in front of it. Next thing I see is a white Goldwing trike with no rider backing up across in front of his pickup and heading right for my trailer. Lucky for me, and the trike owner, the pickup man was able to stop the trike with about three feet to spare. He shut the engine off and put the bike in gear just as the owner comes running out of the store. The first words out of his mouth, "you didn't shut it off did you". Apparently his charging system was out and the battery wouldn't start the bike. After giving him the lecture about leaving a vehicle parked in neutral without blocking the wheels or applying the brakes I calmed down. I explained to him what a bad day he and I both could of had. The pickup man and myself gave him a push and it started right up and he was on his way. All's well that ends well. I can laugh about it now but it sure wasn't funny at the time.
