  1. I've installed a few Yamaha luggage racks and it's a relatively simple job. I like to use a tailors measuring tape to locate it squarely on the trunk lid. Also use masking tape to protect the paint and make your marks for drilling. Make the final hole size just a little bigger than the bolts so you have a little fudge room and don't forget to chamfer the holes on both sides to help prevent cracking. Use a very small drill bit (1/16") to start a pilot hole in the center of your mark and then work up to your final hole size. Put a little blue loctite on the bolts and don't over torque them.
  2. Tom, Getting to see and visit with you and Debby is one of the main reasons we keep coming back to Hill Country. We always enjoy the time we get to spend with you both. Thanks again for your Texas hospitality.
  3. Great job Bill! Not surprised after seeing some of your other work. Do you have a before picture?
  4. Bob, Make sure what ever you use is alcohol compatible. I did the tank on my '32 Ford may years before they started adding ethanol and the sealer eventually turned to snot and plugged up the whole works from the tank to the carb.
  5. Look'n good Brad. You should have brought it down to Texas for a road test.
  6. I've had this site book marked from a previous discussion here on this subject. http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/HAGON_MONOSHOCKS.html
  7. We are planning to attend Americade this year, the week after Freebird's maintenance day. After checking out the registration form on line, I'm a little confused and undecided. http://store.tourexpo.com/productcart/pc/home.asp Wondering if someone who has been there and done that can advise us on how to do it. Is the full registration worth it? How about the organized rides? Seems like all the rides etc. cost extra $$$. Is it better just to pay to get into the trade show and go on our own rides? I don't mind paying the fees if they are worth it. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
  8. No, but I did check out a place down river, in Flat Rock I think. I'd have to look up the name of it. I bought mine in Canada.
  9. Thinking good thoughts for you Don. Had the scare myself two years ago but the biopsy was negative. Now I have the PSA test twice a year.
  10. I offered to be his tour guide. And if he liked Luckenbach he would love the 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandara. We're going back there on Wednesday.
  11. Great to run into you at Luckenbach Bob. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
  12. Hi Eddie, My new trailer is 7 X 18 with a "V" nose which adds another 1 1/2 feet to the over all length. It was made in Sturgis Mi. by Neo Trailers. Lots of room for the bike in the front and Mercedes in the back. The trailer is all aluminium and only weights 1800 lbs. Only 600 lbs. more than my 6 X 12 steel trailer. I was able to order it with 16" O/C floor, wall and roof supports too. I could probably fit 3 RSVs in there by staggering them.
  13. ONLY 50???? Happy birthday young fella!
  14. We were in Luckenbach yesterday. Had a nice big greasy burger at Alamo Springs Café too.
  15. Hey Randy, I didn't even know it was a woman until she took off her helmet...LOL. I wasn't paying any attention to her because the bike looked so sharp. I'm just guessing her age, I don't have a clue. Glad you're happy with all the snow. You're about the only person I've heard from who is. Sure has been nice down here.
  16. Thanks for a great day Tom and Debby. We really enjoyed the ride, the sights, the lunch and the company. Can't wait to do it again. See you soon.
  17. I saw a 60 something year old lady come into the park today on a Victory Vision trike. I think I like it better than the two wheel version. I didn't get a picture of it but here's a link to a picture of one. I don't recall seeing a trunk on hers but maybe it's removable. Or it could have been there and I just didn't notice. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2011models/2011-Victory-VisionTrikea.jpg
  18. Looking forward to seeing you and Debby.
  19. So I guess it's lunch time at the DQ in Blanco on Tuesday. I'll try and be there too.
  20. When I have checked mine, with a little yellow showing on the cap, they were only down a couple of lbs. I use 40 lb. valve caps and run the tires at 40 lbs.
  21. Well the stock RSV is an inch shorter. Mine has the HD fishtails which makes it longer than the Mercedes... LOL
  22. Well Brad all I have to say is, after all the abuse you got on this thread, you are quite a gentleman. Glad you liked the car and it was great to see you, Lonna and Heather. As for the rest of you, don't knock it until you've tried it. You just might be surprised.
  23. We stopped to visit our good friends Brad and Lonna and let Brad take our new Mercedes for a ride around the block. I think he really liked it too.
  24. Been using them for several years on a couple of different bikes and my cars. Great for a quick glance to check the tire pressure. I still like to check with a proper gauge usually at least every couple of weeks or so. Usually only have to add air every few months but only 1 to 3 lbs.
  25. Bob, the first thing I changed when I bought the '06 was the handle bars. I used the Flanders on the '03 and loved them so it was a no brainer for me. I never had an issue with the stock hoses but the throttle cables do need to be 2" longer. You can play with the clutch and brake hoses to make them work or spring for the 2" longer SS braided lines. I'm not sure if they are offering the Flanders bars with the threaded inserts so you can keep your stock bar end weights now or not but it's an easy mod if you want to keep them. Some have drilled out the threaded plugs from the stock bars and put them in the Flanders. I turned down some nuts to fit into the bars and welded them in.
