We are in Kerrville Tx, about 300 miles north of Mission. You might consider renting a bike for a couple of days and checking out "Hill Country". We could give you the ten cent tour.

I went there two years ago and spent a day as a spectator. It was amazing. We went on Tuesday and there were actually some affordable vehicles. Of course the economy was in the tank at that time. I remember a '64 Chevy short bed custom cab 1/2 ton sold for somewhere in the $13,000 range. To restore it to the quality it was, even if you did everything yourself would cost a lot more than that.

Sorry to hear this news. My condolences to the whole family. -
Don, you're a smart fellow. Didn't you know there's no such thing as a hot water heater? If the water was hot why would you need to heat it? I think you should be buying a cold water heater. Sorry I couldn't help myself.....LOL

As Carbon One said the Fladders G2 bars for metric bikes is the way to go especially if you want to avoid having the problem mentioned here. They aren't the cheapest way to go because you need 2" over throttle cables as well but IMHO they work the best. Although you can get away with the stock cables with the Barron's risers, it's so tight at full lock turn that I think it could be unsafe and I think you should go to 2" over cables with those risers too. I did have the throttle stick. That's why I got rid of them. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

He is one lucky fellow. A piece of leaf spring off of a truck went through his windshield and missed his left ear before going out the back window of his van. We talked to him on the phone last night and tonight and he seems fine. Here's the news paper article and picture. http://www.windsorstar.com/news/Windsor+almost+decapitated+steel+spring+Like+Bomb/6005134/story.html

Great to see you and Debbie Tom. Wish I would have still been there when David called. We're heading south for a few days today. See you next week. Squidley, you're on my hit parade too.

Good news! Welcome home Dan. -
Brad, I was told to beware of the smaller no name or at least unfamiliar companies. They sometimes monitor from their basement at home and use their kids to watch the computers. Don't know if it's true or not but that's what I was told to watch for. The company I went with has several call centers spread out across the country that do the monitoring. At my place, we have the doors all switched and motion detectors in the living areas and basement. The shop has door switches and motion detectors as well. I have key pads at the front, back and shop doors. I also have fire and sump pump failure detection. It cost around $1000 to install and $30/month to monitor. As an incentive they gave me 6 months free monitoring and $50 for every new costumer I send them. Plus we got the usual discounts on the home owner policy. You wouldn't believe the system they have in the place we are visiting in Africa. Security here is very important. They have outdoor motion sensors, bars on the windows, doors are all switched, windows are all switched, vibration monitors on the windows and a high voltage electric fence all around the perimeter. This is as close to jail as I ever want to be. They did shut the interior motion sensors off so we could leave our room when I get up in the morning.

Well, a slight delay. We've been stuck (kind of like quick sand)here in Washington DC for almost 24 hours. As we taxied out last night the plane lost oil pressure on #3 engine so back we came and after six hours of waiting on the plane they sent us all to hotels. They have just anounced boarding for our flight today at 2:00. This is starting to fell like the amazing race. Stay tuned.

I'm not sure how much I'll be able to access the WWW while we are in Africa so I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year before we leave. Hope we don't get stuck in any Quick Sand.

We just bought a SX 40. It's the high end point and shoot but has a lot of the features of a SLR. The 35X zoom is real nice. $399.00

Happy anniversary Jim and Belinda.

Happy birthday Lonna. Thinking of you today as we drove through Marine City.

We've had way too much rain this year. All previous records have been broken for this area. We got another 3" down pour today. Here's a view of the golf course next to us. The little patch of green, centre right, is all that's left of the 16th green. The view is looking north up the 17th fair way. Normally the river is no more than a small creek on the other side of that tree line but when we get this much rain it turns into a real river. I'm guessing that the water is as much as 15 or more feet deep in some spots.

Other hobby, thought some might enjoy the videos...

Thanks for posting that. I love watching and hearing those old engines run, especially the hit and miss ones. I had a newer model IHC than that one but ended up selling it a couple of years ago. I use to get it running and when the water started to steam I told the kids it was a hot dog cooker....LOL -
Maybe it's a diesel???

We have friends at our winter home in Texas who have a couple of them. His is a 502 and hers is a 350 trike. They'll pass anything but a gas station.

And judging by the number of calls we got during the last election the do not call list doesn't apply to %$&*#@? politicians either.

Hey no reason to leave just because you don't ride a Venture. There's lots of folks on here that don't have a Venture. We even have a forum here just for the Gold Wingers. Why not hang around and let us know how you like the new bike after you get a few miles on it. I tried one out at Americade and really liked it too. Except for the clunky transmission.

Remember the old days when a steering wheel only had a horn button. And the radio had two knobs and six push buttons. The heater had hot, cold and fan controls. You never had to take your eyes off the road.

I don't know???? Never had a problem myself. I do the same for my lawn equipment too. Now that we head south for the winter I haven't had to store the bike for a few years. As Goose said above the fuel will evaporate from the bowls anyway. I figure by running it out there's less chance of collecting crap in the carbs.
