  1. An enhanced drivers license could solve that problem. Only $40 extra on renewal.
  2. But Carl has such an eloquent way of saying grace.
  3. I haven't been through the process but I know the regular license office won't do it. I was told you have to go to the Ontario gov't office in Windsor. Can't be any harder then a passport. Mine is due in Sept. so we'll see. I just hate having to carry a passport just to go to the States. EDL is only good for land or water crossings.
  4. The trunk may have been moved back which would cause that gap at the back.
  5. To me the enhanced DL makes much more sense than a passport. Unless you're flying between CDN and USA you don't need a passport if you have the enhanced DL. Less $$$ too. Only $40 more for the EDL. http://news.ontario.ca/mto/en/2009/05/about-ontarios-enhanced-drivers-licence.html New passport fees starting this year. $120 for 5 years and $180 for ten. http://www.ppt.gc.ca/publications/consultations/index.aspx?lang=eng Ontario license fees going up. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/news/backgrounder/fee-changes-2012-03-12.shtml
  6. Bob, diesels don't need an ignition system only compression. To regulate the speed would be done by fuel flow.
  7. Plans have changed. We are now baby sitting on the 45th floor Saturday evening. Giving the kids a night out. Will have to see you all in the spring.
  8. I/we might make it. Planning to go to the bike show Friday. Room booked near our daughter's place downtown for Friday and Saturday night.
  9. Sounds good to me but I'll have to say maybe for now.
  10. Merry Christmas and Happy Year to all of our Venture Rider family Gary and Mary
  11. You forget to put a heated wash bay in that new garage??
  12. It was a beautiful day here in Canada's southland today so I got out for a nice two hour ride. Mid 40s and sunny with no wind. Probably the last ride for a while.
  13. Looks good Carl. Like the red.
  14. To get the stock grips off without any damage just work a small screw driver around the open end enough so you can blow compressed air into the opening. That will release the glue and let you work it off. Now that works good on the left side not so sure about the throttle side as I've never tried it. I've always just replaced with after market grips and the throttle side is a bolt on.
  15. Neighbour bought the Dyna Switchback. I wasn't impressed. But I would be open to trying out the Ultra Classic.
  16. That vibrator you're riding probably doesn't help. I have carpal tunnel too and when I took my neighbour's new Hog for a ride I didn't get two miles down the road before my hand was numb. I've been living with it for over twenty years. When I went in to see about getting it fixed of course the doc has to tell you everything that might go wrong. I didn't go through with it.
  17. These folks are great for headsets http://www.sierra-mc.com/
  18. Us to Peggy. First good ride since Labour Day. That wind was a pain though.
  19. I have a two post hoist in my shop that I bought used 17 years ago. The one thing I don't like about it is the 2" ramp I have to drive over between the two posts. If you have the height to get the one with the connections that cross over at the top, that's what I would get. I my case it's what was available at the time and ceiling height would have been an issue. Today I could buy a nice new one for what I had to pay for a used one back then.
  20. Thanks Eck, but remember who you're talking too. My favourite electronic device is the electronic ignition in my '49 pickup. I'm learning this thing very slowly but I'm sure I'll never get the full benefit out of it. If my old computer wouldn't have died on me I'd been happy to never replace it. Having said that, I sure do like the speed of this new one.
  21. Ya, but what kind of oil should I use and what about the best tires?
  22. Just bought a new lap top with the Windows 8 operating system. Man I hate change. This is going to be a real steep learning curve for me.
  23. WOW!
  24. Maybe he figured he was a smaller target and had a better chance on the bike then the cage. Don't think they've caught the sniper yet. Be careful out there in Metro Detroit.
  25. I've been using Michelin's on my pickups for years and I've always been happy with them but on my '08 Caddy the factory installed Michelin's are crap. Worn out at 30,000 miles and very noicey on concreat or tar and chip roads. In my research I've found that they make several different models of the same size and I expect the the OEM tires are the cheapest ones. Too bad you can't buy them and try them out for a month and exchange them if you don't like the fit. Having said that, I alway deal at a local tire shop that sells Michelin, Goodyear and a few others and I trust their judgement. They have always given me a good price and good advice. They even took a set of tires back once and exchanged them for a different size when I screwed up on a project truck I was building. They didn't even charge me for the change out. I guess that's how you keep customers coming back.
