  6. there were thousands of bikes! would have taken couple of days to see all the bikes. was a perfect day and am glad i went even though it was kind of chilly in the morning when we started off from toronto, but did warm up quite a bit in the afternoon. what a way to end the riding season. i rode with around 15 SCRC members from the toronto area. talking of how many bikes...check out the article below. though i don't know how accurate they can be, in estimating. http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/672289 abdul.
  7. i rode to port dover too. turned out to be a beautiful day. hey Friesman1, guess what? i did bump into Lou there, and had a brief chat with him. the place was like a mad house. hardly any room to walk around, but was worth it. didn't meet any other members. took a long time to get home. the traffic was stop and go most of the way, as Greener mentioned. abdul.
  8. BTW .... Weather forcast looks good for Port Dover on Friday. Anyone here going? (ELAG) thinking about it.....for a few years now, some venturerider members have been meeting at 'tim hortons' in port dover at 2 pm. maybe we can keep this tradition going and meet there for a coffee. i will hang out there between 2pm to 2.30 pm. please feel welcome to come over and say hi. i will most likely be wearing my bright yellow jacket and a baseball hat. would be nice to meet some friends there. i may be riding in with some fellas from our local SCRC club, unless some of our members from toronto area want to ride together. would have to leave early fri am...around 8 am is the target. again, am not sure about going, but sure am going to try. looking forward to it, anyway. safe riding to all. abdul.
  9. is there a prize for figuring out who that 'person' is bob? methinks i got it! by the way....you seem to have waaaaaay too much time on your hands yourself, digging out such information.
  10. awesomme!!!
  11. hey chaharly...... i really think you should at your age, start with something a wee bit smaller and lighter for a couple of years, anyway. this is just my opinion. please do not take offense to this. its just a fatherly instinct in me saying this. what ever you decide, wish you a safe and enjoyable life. i admire your guts, though.
  12. This 40 year body has been around since 1944....so i guess that makes it 65 years old. just love riding bikes and i feel i will be at it for another 5 years for sure ( god willing, of course)
  13. think of Stephen often. hard to forget good friends. we wish Marion and family members courage at such difficult periods. RIP.....Stephen. abdul.
  14. hi evan... if you scroll down this page, you will see other threads where this problem was discussed. might find some clues there. good luck. abdul.
  15. DAMN!!! all these do gooders ruined it for me.....i was going to let Ben sweat it out for a few days, and then offer him a brown venture seat from an '86 in exchange for putting my bike back together! oh well..... when are the shingles due for replacement again, ben? how old is your neighbour? you think he's going to be around for the next time? tell you what....why don't you tell him the chimney on the roof needs some attention? oh...and dont forget to park the bike besides the ladder.
  16. Friesman1 tell your friend, that I for one appologize if anything I posted, offended him and hope he will give us another chance. hey saddlebum...the person we are talking about is not only friesman's friend. he is a friend to many here and was very active on this site. a wonderful person and one i am proud to call a friend. good enough to call a brother...but that might raise some eyebrows. he came looking for me when he heard that i was in his town to buy a "honda". found me at the licensing office and took me home and made me feel like a family member.he used to own a second gen venture till last year, and has recently bought a harley. a paid member still cause he is not the type who would shun his friends just cause he bought a harley. i feel very saddened about him leaving this site and also would very much hope that he reconsiders his decision. lots of people here talk about how we all are a family here, but do we really look out for each others feelings? let me be clear....( no i dont use Obama's speech writer) i would love to buy a harley if i could afford it and i bet many here would too, but we just cant afford it. so lets call them sour grapes. and thanks for listening:canada: abdul.
  17. wishing bob and becky a very happy wedding anniversary! abdul & shah.
  18. wow!!..... what a beautiful day we had. went through very scenic routes starting from caledonia, towards fort erie, then niagara falls,to niagara on the lake, where we had a real good lunch by the golf club located along the mouth of the niagara river where it runs into lake Ontario. i think everyone loved whatever they had ordered. didn't hear anyone complain about the food. not cheap by any standard, but food was done well and well served. rode a bit more towards toronto through port dalhousie. rest of the guys rode quite a bit more i believe, going back towards caledonia via smaller roads, and then to their homes. hope all went well and everyone got home safe and sound. me.....i couldn't take in any more excitement, so as soon as i saw the hwy (QEW) and the exit to toronto, i waved goodbye to all and headed home. did close to 500 kms in all. the others probably ended up doing quite a bit more. we had a good turnout. 7 bikes in all. four 2nd generations, 1 first gen...one honda shadow, and a 'bandit'. thanks all for coming out again and spending the day together. the following showed up.. the hosts...Wayne and Robin Steve ( THE COUNT) and Michele John ( RELIC)and Dianne Bob Green (GREENER) Dave ( DOGMAN) and his friend Eric, on his Bandit. and me..Abdul ( CHABICHEKA) on my Shadow. wouldnt have missed this one for anything....yeah...my sons wedding can wait...
  19. i can make it too. will be riding with dogman too, hopefully. see you all if all goes well. abdul.
  20. i tried calling mine with all kinds of different names, but it doesn't answer to any of them, so i just call it...."my bike" ohhh....when i called it CARL, it just tipped over. dont know what to make of it.
  21. i thought i was going..... should have checked with the boss first. says son's wedding too close and lots of work still to be done.
  22. I had a wonderful time too. what a beautiful day, beautiful route, beautiful people.you included, Carl, so get that frown off your face! Very enjoyable day, overall. Decided to split up after that good lunch at that Scottish restaurant in Thornbury. Wayne is too nice a guy. Him being the Tailgunner, i just couldn't do it to him......you know....after a BIG lunch....( am sure you all get the d..r.i..f..t.) So thanks again to the organizers ( Carl and Wayne ) i guess, and their spouses of course.. and all that came out yesterday to make this labour day, a day to remember. Am glad i quit when i did. Boy, was i feeling tired as i got closer to home! Went straight in bed for a nap! looking forward to the next meet and greet and meeting you folks, and others again. at my age, it takes meeting people a few times to remember their names. abdul.
  23. thanks Wayne... see you there. leaving at 7.30 scarborough. but as i said, if am not there on time, you guys go ahead and have a good and safe and enjoyable labor day. abdul.
  24. what's the meeting point at mono mills? is that just south of hwy 9? so where is everyone meeting? if i dont show up by 9 am, do not wait. will be a good enough ride for me up to mono mills. will check here again before i leave. planning on leaving toronto around 7.30 am, but have to know the meeting point. hopefully someone will reply. thanks. abdul.
