  1. No lowers on her yet bit I'm heading out. Headlight is funky. Off in neutral but stays on when riding. Doesn't know if it hi or lo beam. Temp gauge says hot but still just over halfway up the green. Just about 2/3 way to on gauge. Mechanic says to find new fuel pump relay cause this one works but rough condition. (He thinks it'll short on the wrong bump?)

  2. Drove home from the mechanic this morning. Runs good! A little rough at idle bit mech. says to run some good gas through before dropping a few hundred to do carbs.

Now I'm trying to figure out what order to hang the fairing in as I rebuild it. I'm waiting for the J-B Weld to set good on my radiator overflow tube

  3. It's ALIIIIIIIVE!

my guy says he unplugged and replugged the CDI and it quit blowing fuses! Cranked right aver and ran on 3 cylinders, he thought. The last time he started it, it was running good then the tach died and then it shut down. Thanks to snyper396 I'll have my used CDI box tomorrow at a very reasonable price and the mechanic said he'd get it in there and probably pull carbs or check carbs Saturday. He still hadn't pulled the plugs to see if one was fouled and that was the issue or not before doing carbs. Sounds like I get to be a Venture Rider soon!

  4. This area at the top corner is under a lot of stress and very hard to get into it's natural position to glue. Curves and angles make clamping almost impossible. Would you cut the piece off to attempt reattaching? My thinking is that this would relieve the stress that the shape creates and allow glue to cure I'm stressed. Crazy or maybe?

  6. Opinions needed please. My 83 Venture is ROUGH body wise. Every piece is cracked, missing tabs, 20 new screws and bolts and things to replace missing or hodgepodge Hardware holding plastic together. Here's my dilemma, I have a heated shop where I can keep my bike and work on body and finding Parts and replacing/rebuilding things over the winter. I really want to get some miles on this bike this summer. Writing seems to be the only thing that satisfies my ADD so completely. Any recommendations on stripped-down versions or something that I could enjoy traveling on without having to worry about replacing a bunch of junk right now?15ce8f4d41e12a7986c216f8fbdc4c82.jpg

  7. Latest update. Printed a bunch of your info. Stopped in to discuss it with my mechanic who told me he's owned two of these bikes already but but very open to any help as he gets going. I'm supposed to know something by the end of the today or tomorrow. I was concerned about getting advice from others to share with him when I've hired him as my expert. But explained it I just want to do this as cheaply as possible in there was great information available quickly from you all. Thanks everyone
