  1. Back in my day the speed limit was 55 miles per hour Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  2. I have her! By the time I rode home she was spitting antifreeze from where they had bumped my repair to the overflow connection tube. Also at idle weather in gear or out there is a rattling down by the transmission. Actually sounds more like something loose inside the exhaust rather than a problem in the engine as it doesn't change the sounds with RPM or clutch engaged. Oh and they forgot to bolt the seat down. I'm not complaining I'll just get to love her up a little tonight before I sit on her all day tomorrow. Sounds different with four cylinders firing. And I got a little backfiring with deceleration that I never had before. Also she's quite quick for big old girl. The Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  3. I'm sure the last lesson will be the bill! I do want him to get me to a really solid starting point so that I can recognize any degradation and repair it as we go. And he does let me find my own Parts which is rare. He also breaks everything down to show me what he did. Very much like the orthopedic surgeons that I deal with in my daily life, they LOVE to tell you the intricacies of how wonderfully they performed their last surgery. We agreed early on that I wanted to pay for his expertise and talents and wasn't afraid to do that but would prefer to get my own parts when he thought I could find a good deal. He's actually quite impressed with my friends from venturerider.org. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  4. Sorry I speak to text typing. Sometimes it just makes stuff up and when I'm driving I don't bother to edit very well Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  5. Saw this gorgeous looks like maybe second gen today. He couldn't hear me yell at him over his headphones. 3 p.m. westbound on Highway 370 in Papillion turning South on 132nd Street Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  6. Mechanic took sick today. Praying it's the 24 hr kind. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  7. Mister Puc sir, you can't receive any more personal messages until you clean out some messages. I would have messaged you but I can't. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  8. My TDI box that I ordered new on Thursday afternoon at 3, From the Netherlands was on my porch when I got home from work today. It's now in the mechanics hands. This guy used four cans of carburetor cleaner to clean my engine. Boy she's pretty. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for tour! I know Wish. I got a very nice waterproof power and USB port. I'm thinking of using my speaker holes as convenient Tech mounting places. What is that on your left fairing lid? It looked like a soft top. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  10. A little quality time with Bud. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  11. I stripped a screw on the clutch cylinder and the brake cylinder. Thank goodness for easy-outs! I've replaced about 30 hodgepodged screws and fasteners. She's abused but I think that makes me love her even more. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  12. Listen to Stormy Monday by The Allman Brothers Band on Napster: https://npstr.cm/d5gmtd Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  13. Today while not riding, I'm getting some much-needed housework done while cranking about 200 Watts through my pioneer receiver, Crown 800 preamp finally rattling the house through my Pioneer model CS 922a speakers. My neighbor's listen to some dang fine music whether they like it or not. About once every couple weeks. I think the speakers that I picked up for $10 in a garage sale reconed myself, and are on eBay at $800 a pair, maybe haunted. Every time I turn up above 9, everything in my house is rearranged next day. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  14. Maybe I'll go in a whole different direction.... have you seen this? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  15. Yup! My right side is worse. I did find a large piece in the trunk to put back on. Both of my side panels are zip stripped at the bottom. I'd show photos except that, as I may have mentioned 1K times, I haven't seen or touched her in five weeks! Hahaha! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  16. I did notice that Poncho has broken top corners on his fairing like mine. That's probably true on any that have been dropped? I also notice that Puc has different crash bars than mine... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  17. Should take what, all of two minutes to do that? Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone decided to start manufacturing all our plastic again? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  18. I found some purplish/mauvish duct tape that I've got decorating mine right now. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  19. "Damn what I've gotten my self into" --Poncho26 I paid considerably more for mine than you did because 2nd gear had been fixed, forks rebuilt and close to 4 grand in repairs completed by the P.O.. (I didn't pay anything close to what he put into her...)Sat for two years because when he rebuilt the forks the bike sat 4 inches taller and he couldn't reach the ground anymore. Sucker must have laid that thing over four times or more. Supposedly it was a matter of dropping in a battery and bleed the clutch and hit the road. 8 months later and I've put maybe 400 miles on it this summer finding more things to fix each time I got out. I'd be thrilled if mine was as pretty as yours. I may get a couple more months with a few nice days to ride but now I'm going to get her all fixed up and be waiting till spring really. She's still wearing most of her " barn find" dirt and having repaired a bunch of plastic already I'm going to have to find some more body parts over the winter. Once she's roadworthy I have to decide whether to paint her or go rat bike. I'm thinking of leaving her alone and calling her farm truck like that sleeper truck out of the 405. Back to your quote, if I had a nickel... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  20. I appreciate your willingness to share about the fuel switch being off! My 83 is waiting on a new TCI unit that will be put on a slow boat from Norway tomorrow. I'm always finding things that these wonderful people on this site are very patient to help me in my idiocy. I might not have admitted that I didn't have the fuel switch turned on but you won't be ridiculed here. In fact, I don't understand why there's no reserve tank on these bikes. Last time I rode her I was going to get on here and asked how come I get a whine at highway speeds out of the engine, then somebody mentioned in the post in here about how the gears are square cut and so that's normal! Saved me from another embarrassing question. I love all these guys! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  21. Heart broken. Wow. Parts? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  22. I wish mine was still that pretty. Will get her mechanically sound before I worry about how pretty she needs to be. I mean at 34 years old, she still got them great legs but the rest of her is a pretty rough. Poor old girl got dropped on her side quite a bit by the previous owner I'm afraid. Never while moving though yay. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  23. Reverb! Outstanding! I had to explain to my to my kids that none of the electronic sounds that they hear all the time and never think about existed when we started hearing those things in music. Stereo changed the world. Synthesizers? Mind blown. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  24. Back in my day I had an FM converter running through the radio to the speaker in the center of the dash in my car. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  25. 4 wheeled vehicle have their place. Shoulders HURT! Sorry to hear about the 2nd fall. My cousin who owns BMW Motorcycles of Omaha says new sales have nose-dived this year. He's got lots work in his service dept. though. What's the appeal of an undependable, expensive bike anyway? He called my 83 "The Beast" when they spooned a new rear tire for me. SNOBS!
