Hazzard a guess?
s.tyler58 replied to s.tyler58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Still no bill. Or bike. Fuse blown. No tach, no turn signals, no tail/brake light. Mark says, "In the morning." Tomorrow, (Oops, I forgot that it's 2 AM now! I picked up some Chinese food on the way home and ate it then fell asleep on the couch from about 6 till 11. My body clock's a mess this week) anyway, Saturday's supposed to be near 60 with little wind. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk -

Hazzard a guess?

I forgot that they also put in new TDI box way back when. I provided that box. I don't think there's a ton of money in Parts should be shop time. When I was in there earlier this week the old guy, that we think is actually the one who sold me my 76 KZ650, said, " "Steve, those three guys been making love to that bike all week." That's scary. They also kept it there and did the work as they had time to fill as winter set in. It was all done when they wanted to or had a chance to. We did talk once that if we were talking more than 1700 more and would have to decide whether to continue or not. And, these guys already did $3,500 worth of work for the previous owner who only put 200 miles on it afterwards. Rebuild the transmission rebuilt Forks new front tire I don't know what all else Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk -
Well we're heading to 45 degrees today 55 tomorrow and I'm supposed to get my bike back today. They still haven't spread any gravel cuz we haven't had any precipitation in 6 weeks so it should be ok to pile on some miles! Maybe I should come up with some kind of a prize for the correct or closest answer but here's my question: I have no idea what my bill might come to today but here's a list of things that I had done, who wants to guess? New valve cover gaskets, valve adjustment, rebuilt carburetors, new slave cylinder for the clutch, all new brake lines, new seal on the front of the driveshaft(which we were blessed to find a new OEM part for), replaced exhaust with some Road King(or Road Star? Every time I say one or the other I get corrected so I don't know right now) take offs that he thought he could get for 40 bucks a piece. (Hear it in my recent post) Sooooooo, How much will it cost? I may be bragging or just not so quietly (because she's LOUD now) slink off into the noon day Sun on a two laner. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Holy smokes! Not in my budget at this WalMart price! Bet it's a good one though. That's what I paid for the Charge 3 and it has great speakers! Loooooong battery life when used as speakers. In fact, before I put the new pipes on last week (see other post), I could have listened to it on the bike for audio. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

I'm going to assume that most of you carry some kind of phone battery backup for your overnight trips. You know, those nights when you pull off, throw up a tent, snuggle into bed, try to make a call to say goodnight and realize you forgot to plug in your phone during the last two hours of your trip. So assuming that, is there a storage backup that you highly recommend and wouldn't leave home without? I do have a JBL Charge 3 that is supposed to charge your phone but it gives you about 20 minutes of a charge. Enough for an emergency. But then you also lose the ability to listen to music cuz your battery went to give you a few minutes of phone use. By the way, I've been told I give good phone. I went with the road star pipes

Snipe, my guy pick these up from the Harley dealer in town. They get a lot of takeoffs when people think they're making improvements on their hardleys. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk -

Little known facts about Nebraska... Our largest export is sand and gravel. The Platte River and the Nile are the only two sand-based rivers in the world. And both are over aquifers. Also unique in the world. Nebraska has more miles of Shoreline on our crick's rivers and streams than any other state in the nation. It's a very unique ecosystem and quite beautiful in its own way. Some people have to sit on the edge of an ocean or a cliff in the mountains to see The Wonder of God. I I am reminded of His majesty when I travel this unique area of the world. Because we're laid out on a north-south grid 1 mile sections and because of all of our Creeks Rivers streams and things that aren't bridged, there is a lot of interesting riding and scenic areas accessible by unimproved roads, sand and gravel Roads that you could fly down like in the desert and gravel roads. Definitely not high-speed twisties action but very rewarding rides. Again thank you for your patience as I dictated this to talk to text and it won't punctuate anything. Getting some windshield time in central Nebraska today and thought I'd share this picture of Twisties in Nebraska. Now imagine, you got to get up to 300 mile per hour first... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

After my last appointment the nurse came in because my PA is a woman, and she said what no prostate exam today? I was all ready to come in for your prostate exam. Of course my response was why the hell would you want to be here for my prostate exam? And she said it was to make sure the female physician assistant didn't take advantage of me! My reply? How about we setup a Pony Express type exchange between Venture Riders from coast to coast US/Canada. Each participant has two days to reach the next stop/rider. They could donate 2 bikes and provide a camera man. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Looking back at those photos, brings to mind a line from, yesI'm going to admit this, one of my favorite movies, Katharine Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story, " my, she was YAR..." It was 8 years ago. Notice the pipes? Needed to be rejetted. I never could afford her needs. As far as a loud cruiser goes, I believe that anything that draws attention to my motorcycle in today's traffic just adds 100' to the range of people who know I must be somewhere. Been chewin on all your encouragement! I'm going have to sit down with the real keyboard instead of this Tapatalk app on my phone. I'll share the story of how this new relationship for me began. It'll help me to remember and has helped me to formulate a plan. In the meantime as a man who was only married 15 years out of his 59, I found this to be funny Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Cptriker1 sounds just like me only louder! See his post: Update 10.19.17 The unending hell... I also don't have access to another set of hands in the garage. I've made my decision, I'm going to go ahead and have my guy give me quotes on the work. I will do the soldering on the dash and things like that. I put another hundred miles on yesterday afternoon and I just really like this bike. 36500 miles justifies having the work done professionally this time because she has so much life left to live. Besides I couldn't get anything but another Yamaha because I may never find a group of guys like this one! Next year... Maybe we will meet face-to-face? Thanks all! The problem is I struggle with the idea of paying my guy to go ahead and finish her all up, and he could start on it right away and have it ready for me soon, as opposed to the summer when he was backed up five to six weeks at a time. I would be more confident with him doing the work and my maintaining from there once it's a solid and safe riding machine. I'm challenged because I'm mechanical, not a mechanic. I knew there'd be tinkering to do and things that I can do but I know in my heart of hearts that I'm 70% Rider, 30% fixer. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

The list... Collector and exhaust are shot Clutch slave cylinder needs to be rebuilt Needs all new brake lines and rebuilt cylinders, should I upgrade to generation two forks and front brakes Gas gauge needs repaired I've already been shown how to weld and get my headlight switch working And now we come to the plastic parts which are not good but I haven't seen anything better online. These are all things that are more than I feel like I can tackle in an unheated garage and I'd have to buy more tools than what I have now. I'm about $2,700 total into it now. 36,500 total miles. Transmission is rebuilt, front fork seals rebuilt, valves adjusted new valve cover gasket, carburetors rebuilt, new TDI box. I love how this bike fits me and rides. I just torn as to my best decision to be able to ride all next year Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
