csog - thanks for the link! I think I'll come down from York, PA in the spring for the class.

I like Facebook. I have reconnected with friends and relatives that I have not seen in 30 years. Much of what I post there is silly and probably a waste of time but Facebook has been a blessing much more than a curse. I do have one friend that is a VR member and I know he has posted similar thoughts about reconnecting with the past.

They call the cassette deck a "feature".

So glad to hear that you are mostly OK. I pride myself in being a very attentive rider. Every once in awhile though I get distracted and think, "Thank God that car didn't pull out then because I was not paying attention." We all do it. Bikes can be replaced. You and Mrs. Squid cannot!!

How far east in PA do you go?

So what is the purpose of a crotch rocket on the street?
halfwitt replied to 1 Canuck's topic in Watering Hole
The whine is from the bike and the wine is from the rider! -

To remind us 2nd Gens that, despite the whine, we have a pretty sweet ride? -
I usually ride a little faster then posted. If someone is tailgating I will let them pass if it is convenient and safe. Not always the case. Recently on a two lane highway I had a guy riding my butt for several miles. We got to a stop light and I just turned and glared. He backed off. I honestly don't think he realized how close he was to me. I have problems with bikers as much as cages. I was on a one lane transition road from one highway to another. The road was a decreasing radius and I was riding two up. I think posted was something like 35 which I was doing. A HD passed me on the curve. I saw that he was going to do it. Had I not anticipated it and swerved three feet to my left, in my lane, we both would've been down. I have been known to exhibit a little bit of road rage in the cage. I am MUCH more tolerant and forgiving on two wheels!

We did a Smoke Hole ride last year. I think this might just be my favorite place to ride in the Mid Atlantic. It would be good to get together with some folks next time. This time we didn't know where we were going until Thursday night.

Just returned from a great ride to Davis, WV with my lovely bride. 501 miles round trip. Saturday was fabulous riding weather. Today was a little toasty at about 95 degrees. The roads around Davis are great riding roads. Unbeknown to us there was a rally there this weekend. There was about a bazillion bikes. 99% HD. We did see one Indian and two Ventures. Could be a good spot for a future VR Rally. Very rider friendly and lots to do. I hope everyone else had a great weekend. Now, back to reality.

So that's eight blizzards for CMN! Look forward to the pics!

Last year I was 250 and my wife was 200. Today I'm 210 and she's 170. Bike handles much better now! It will be even better when we take off the last 30 pounds. But at a total of 450, parking lot speeds were tough.

First pics are in! These are from Columbia PA Thanks to Constantine, Brett and Tara (Mr. and Mrs. Halfwitt are on the other side of the lens). I think the threat of rain kept some folks away but it was great to meet three new people. I hope we can get together again soon!

Heading out shortly. We're hoping the rain holds off until we get back home! Enjoy everyone!

You are also entitled to a free report once per year from each of the three reporting agencies. We get a new report every four months to make sure it's clean. Granted if someone hits me the next day I may not know about it for four months but it's free and it's a whole lot better than doing nothing.

That's awesome! Congrats to them!

I put the key in and went back and forth between lock and unlock. With the button about half way down and while turning the key there was a definite "click" and it opened up. Something in the lock itself is lose/broken. I just won't lock that saddlebag again.

Apparently, I eventually used the correct string of curse words to break the spell that was keeping it closed. If anyone wants to know the magic words, let me know. They are not family friendly.

i just found that thread. Thanks!!

Help! I can't get one saddle bag open on my 07 RSV. I push the button and it doesn't feel like it is doing anything. Do you know of any way to get the dang thing open? I may not care so much except my wife's purse is in there! Thanks for any advice!

My brother rides one of those German bikes. I've challenged him to get his group together for this too. Is anyone putting anything together in Greensboro, NC? I can see if he can merge with you guys if you are (assuming that Yamaha's will outnumber the Bimmers).

I got my AARP card this year so I guess I must be about 50. I've had my '07 since '07. I returned to riding about 8 years ago after taking a decade off.
