I'm not a lawyer but I played one in a local production of "To Kill a Mockingbird"... Some time has lapsed since you took delivery, time is important but you are less than a year so you are good. Document every discussion and get the name of every person you speak to. Call Yamaha and get their side. Monday is a holiday so I would expect your dealer to have an answer on Tuesday. If they haven't called you, call them first thing Wednesday morning and tell them "Time's up. No more Mr. Nice-guy. What are you going to do for me?" I suspect you may find a lawyer who may even take this on a contingency basis. One call from a lawyer and things will start moving fast. Your dealer is struggling right now with the poor economy. Last thing they want is negative press. Maybe even contact the local news station that does the consumer advocacy stuff. Bad press can kill! They better make this right! Right is, you want a new bike at that price. If Yamaha is dumping this bike there must be a reason for it. You want full disclosure at minimum.

I can't take the day off!! Brenda and I have been thinking about getting with you and Kim for a ride. We also met a new Venture rider from just south of here. We could ride out to Berks County. But it can't be tomorrow. We need to do that soon though! Have a good ride. Think of those of us who have to work!

Mabe you have a Twilight Venture now? -
I suspect the carnage will begin today! I grew up in that area. My brother and a group of guys he rode with made the front page of the local paper one day back in about 1980. The Highway Patrol was upset because these guys would out run them. There was a photo of my brothers group flying around a corner. My brother told me that they came around a corner once and a CHiP was standing in the middle of the road with his gun drawn. They blew past him. I had visions of Barney Fife stomping his feet and yelling at them to stop. But anyway, it is a dangerous road for cars and bikes. If you don't know the road you could easily find yourself down a 100' cliff.

Long before I had ever heard of "The Dragon", there was "The Crest". I rode Angeles Crest Highway on my Yamaha 400 and in my Triumph Spitfire. We used to say we were going "flying". Truly one of the great roads I have ever ridden. It is reopened now after being washed out by floods a few years ago. I would love to get back there one day an enjoy the ride again! http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-crest19-2009may19,0,6585700.story

And, with the current conversion rate, it's only about $78.00. I just ordered one. I lied - it's about $87. I had converted from Euros instead of Pounds. -
Just being a gentleman.

It ain't over til it's over! Actually, I'm more concerned with the Cards this year. We had a scare with D. Lee and the bullpen stinks again. Oh well. In the past couple of years, York County ahs lost Caterpillar, Pfaltzgraff and York International. Not to mention York Peppermint Patties!

This will devastate our local economy: Harley-Davidson Inc. could shrink or shut down its York County plant as the company tries to slash costs. "We have determined that we need to make some major changes in our York operations to position them competitively," spokesman Bob Klein said today. The 230-acre Springettsbury Township plant is widely viewed as an anchor of the local economy. Milwaukee-based Harley has more than 2,000 employees here, though layoffs are eroding the numbers. The problems at the plant include excess capacity and inefficiencies, Klein said. Harley plans to compare the cost of moving the operation with the cost of revamping it, he said. He declined to discuss long-term demand projections underlying Harley's review. Preliminary recommendations are expected by the fall. Harley in 2003 expanded the plant with a roughly $145 million factory for its Softail line of bikes. One scenario for keeping the plant open is to move production of Touring model bikes out of a separate building that dates back to the World War II era and into the new building, Klein said. A three-year contract the company hammered out with its union amid a 2007 strike will expire in February. Asked whether contract concessions might save the plant, union leader Dave Bunnell said: "That's always a possibility. We are just getting ready to elect our negotiating committee, and 'til we do that we won't be in talks at all." Bunnell is president of Local 175 of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) and Aerospace Workers. Klein only said labor costs would be a factor in the company's calculations. The IAM and another Harley union, the United Steelworkers, are involved in the company's review of a potential move, Klein said. Harley is assuming a new facility would be unionized, he said. Local union leaders also are working with management on the cost study. No similar reviews are occurring at other Harley plants, Klein said. Harley had about 2,500 hourly workers and 320 salaried workers in York County as of May 1, Klein said. Bunnell said his union counted about 2,140 members as of the latest layoff. And looking ahead, it seems likely the York County plant is at least going to shrink, Bunnell said. "Yeah, that's kind of the feedback we're getting," he said. Harley-Davidson shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol HOG.

I lived in Phoenix from '66 to '72. We used to go up to Sedona area frequently. I haven't been there since probably '80 but I remember it being beautiful. We used to go to Cave Creek and slide down the rocks. I wonder if you can still do that? I'm pretty sure that was near Sedona.
