As you may, or may not, know Harley has suggested they may close their final assembly plant in York, PA. Closing that plant will devastate the local economy and add to our 8.5 percent unemployment. If you're in the neighborhood this weekend, there is a rally to support the plant. I don't know if it would have any influence on the folks in Milwaukee, but it could, at minimum be a fun day. For info go to: http://www.fox43.com/news/features/saveourplant/

Saw an HD with one of these bags on his luggage rack. I liked it. It's waterproof and less expensive than a lot of bags we've looked at: http://www.roadreadybags.com/products/touringrackbags.html

Got home from work and my wife says, "you're taking me for a ride aren't you?" Never one to say no to that, we saddled up and set out to places unknown. We found ourselves on this narrow backroad that ended at a stop sign on a fairly steep hill that was banked a little to the left. The cross road was right at a curve. Tough to see either direction. Looked good. Turned sharp left and ended up on the ground. Nothing hurt but my pride. Almost exact same scenario as the last time. But this time Brenda felt it going and was able to hop off. We both landed on our feet. A voice from the woods hollered out and asked if we needed help. Didn't see anybody. We might have been near Freddy Kreuger's place. Oh, this was the first time I got to try to lift the bike "the right way." Piece o' cake! $5 on it's way!

No stickers on the bike - no stickers on the cars. I put a political bumper sticker in the window once every four years but that comes off after the election. The only bumper sticker I have ever put on a car was in 1976 - a kewpie doll for someone who gets the reference - the bumper sticker said "Free Jessica Tate". But anyway - nope - no stickers.

I am also self taught. I was a LCL (Lotus Command Language) wiz first. I used a dual 5.25 floppy for my first PC. The first one I owned was a massive 70MB IBM PC2. Who could ever use that much hard drive?! I mastered dBase III+ and wrote the first inventory control program for Cellular One. I wrote a program for a horse vet which led to a program for equine genealogy. But the only time I was paid full time for my computer skills was as an implementation consultant for a software company out of San Diego. There I became very proficient at SQL and Unix. The travel was too much for my family which, at the time, consisted of my wife home alone a lot with toddler twins. So I now I am a Purchasing Manager for a electronics connector manufacturer. I will still go out of my way to write my own SQL reports rather than using canned reports just "cuz I can". I miss that business but it was the right thing to do at that time.
