You're right on the front, I had to go with the 880 too. Not sure how many more miles I'll put on that scoot, I just picked up an 07 RSV today. Thinking of going with the triple 8s on it too. With the leg room on the RSV I may sell the MKII. My long legs don't like the control location on it. Then again maybe not, I'll miss the peg dragging fun on it.

I let a local dealer talk me into Metzler 888s before I looked here. I've gotten around 3500 miles so far mixed riding. Solo, two up, 80-90 mph interstate and local curves, I can't see any wear so far. Recently ran 125 miles on a rainy interstate 80-85mph stuck like glue. I'm happy so far. Hope they hold up.

The answer is YES. So much so I'm going this weekend to try to pick up an 07 RSV. I'll have to move out a parts bike to get it inside.

Had a kid trying to mess with me red light to red light on a rice rocket this week, I ignored home first few lights. We stopped at the last light on the edge of town, I pulled him up through third before blue lights came on behind us. Oops. He used a lot of words describing the VR but anemic wasn't one of them. Trooper was laughing at him so hard for trailing a tourer he just said slow down and got back in his car. Neither one of them could believe It was bone stock.

Not sure what I'm missing here, I thought we always needed another Venture. No such thing as too many. Just don't tell my wife please.

If it's Allen head I put an Allen socket on it and hit it straight in a couple raps before trying to loosen it. That shock usually breaks the bond of steel bolts in aluminum cases. Then turn them out with a ratchet. I'm talking good smart raps with a small hammer, not a sledge or something big enough to break cases.. If Phillips I use a flat punch and do the same thing before I ever put a screwdriver on them. Most back out without having to use an impact driver after that. An old transmission rebuilder taught me that probably 30 years ago.

I'm with you on that. I could tell by the pictures that it had a few add ons like lighting and trunk rack. It looked pretty well stock other than that. On the phone it was described as super nice, gotta see it-you'll love it, runs great, lots of power, etc. Giving him benefit of the doubt I didn't expect to see my dream bike but at least no major issues. Could've handled minor scratches or blemishes but found what I described. I know no dealer is going to take that job on to put in $2-3000 in a bike that won't bring $1000 with that body on it. They never get paid on those jobs n can't sell the bike for enough to break even. I just hate wasting time like that.

I offered $400, Only because I liked the seat. His response was he'd rather take it to the dealer and have them to fix it and keep it. I'd love to be there when he asks them to go through it.

I would've been satisfied with a little less than that but: both fairings rashed side panels screwed on and zip tied lights not working running on 3 side stand light on bad tires oil leak twinkie leak valves never adjusted fuse box wiring a mess trunk broken lots of rusty screw heads etc E4 error on class, no compressor running starter clutch sounds like gravel thats just a 15 minute going over. Had a good windshield, saddle bags, seat, and battery for the money though.

Im not really looking for one, mine has less than 50k on the clock but I'll jump on one close by just for kicks. Never hurts to have a spare. This is just the third or fourth time I've wasted half a day looking at junk. The last one they told me had sat outside without the air box cover on it until it seized. But since it broke loose and started it must be ok right? That's after I drove 3 hours to see it. I left that one too. I just don't know why they never caught on in this region. Even the one I have I bought from a Canadian that comes here to visit Hannigans trike shop. I bought it just before they started to trike it.

VRs are extremely rare in this part of the country. I only know of three rideable bikes within 50 miles of me. When I find one I try to jump on it. Thought I found something after talking to the seller on the phone. Jokes on me.

I drove a 100 miles to go pick up what was described as a super nice great running MKII today. I found a bike with broken and rashed plastic all over, running on three cylinders and not well on them. Wood screws and zip ties holding the body together. No fuse box with a rats nest of one color wire to replace it. Scary hospital wobble at 30 mph. 3000 rpm at wot. No service history. All for the great price of $2000. Was told I wasted sellers time for not loading it on my trailer. Guess I'm too picky.

Forgive me if it's an old topic, I searched and didn't see one. Single VW carb on the VR. I've seen other write ups on single carbs but not this. Thoughts?

You hit the nail on the head. It's just wrong. I believe that if both sides could get together and use all the effort and money spent fighting over the guns (pro and con) to get to the bottom of the real issue we could get somewhere. The weapons have always been here without issue, so why has the mentality of people changed? I have opinion on this but this is not the place to air them.

Well said Puc. Just this week down here in the South we had two prisoners overpower two guards, take their guns and kill them. They were caught by a homeowner while trying to steal his car. Proof that a good guy (homeowner) with a gun protecting his property stopped what could've been a long crime spree. Our country needs help to curb crime but it goes to show you our forefathers knew what they were doing. I have great respect for law enforcement but they can't be everywhere.

I use a 3/8 drive hex bit, smack it a couple times with a hammer before I turn the bolts. The shock helps break the bond between the steel bolt and aluminum case. Installed new starter clutch and drive clutch recently on my 86 with no issues on the bolts. Just a trick I learned years ago on car transmissions.

Can you drill the head of the bolt off? If so you could slip the cover off over it and have access to the bolt. When I can get to the shoulder of a broken bolt I slip a nut over it and weld it. Between the heat and being able to get a socket on it, it may back out. A few hits with a hammer also helps break steel threads out of aluminum.

1-start the vinegar method. 2- Jump on bike and come to our ride this weekend. 3- Hit every ride/meet n eat you can find in the next couple weeks. 4-Go to Freebird's m day. Maybe it'll be better when you get home. In all reality good luck. I have no idea how to fix it but it's gotta be rough.

I replaced my battery this week from the same symptoms. It shorted inside the battery. It read 12.6 on a volt meter but dropped to less than 1 volt anytime I would put a load on it. Like you everything powered up until I hit the starter, I heard it go sounded like a fuse burning out. Try load testing it.

I can't find a thread on it. It'll be awhile before I can get to it. Once I do I'll do a write up if it's warranted.

I have both clicks but steering only locks on the last one. I'm gonna have to take it apart to see why.

I guess I need to do some digging. Mine will only lock in that position. I've never pulled the ignition to check it.

I don't usually lock my bike as I'm in a fairly safe area. I had to go to Louisville last week and decided to lock it. When I lock the steering it turns on my parking lights. Is this normal or has anyone seen this happen? MKII VR.
