  1. its too far from home to bring the 1st gen, my back doesn't like folding my long legs on it more than a couple hours. There is one advantage though, the plane is cabled to the ground so I might at least get rolling before he can. Really neat place to visit, planes from the 50s up. The 1st ever C130 built (named the First Lady) is there and still airworthy. I never got to serve because of 2 crushed vertebrae but I never pass a military museum. I'm not real knowledgeable about the military but I reserve the greatest respect for them.
  2. Heres a couple a pics from Eglin.
  3. Elgin still there and running. Passed a really cool looking museum there today, all kinds of planes. I'm going to tour it before I leave.
  4. I stopped in Cordele, GA for gas and found the confederate missile sight #1 in the corner of the station parking lot. https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11706 We had to bail on Daytona because of the high winds and surf and headed up to Fort Walton beach. The upside being I've put 1300 miles on the RSV on my only trip of the year. 600 more Saturday to get home. Definitely gotta call Rick Butler when I get home, oh the jewels. Much more comfortable than my MKII though. This trip opened my eyes to which bike stays in the stable, no back pain at all.
  5. I stand corrected Naval museum not Air Force. I have Air Force on the brain, saw an old Air Force missile yesterday. Also if you go to Foley try Lambert's for their country cooking and " thrown" rolls.
  6. Mobile bay and tour the USS Alabama battle ship, very cool. Couple forts in the area. Not far from Pensacola and the air force museum and Blue Angel practice airspace.
  7. I have the Weather Channell for advice😝 What I do need is someone that can control it. Kids not happy with the beach situation. Huge breaking waves and flying sand. We'll find some seafood today and go to Tampa for roller coasters tomorrow. Anybody that needs parts cleaned could hang them on the fence here, they'll be sandblasted by morning. On a good note our hotel has underground parking. Had a new van ruined by a tropical storm years ago, sand blasted, ac ducts full of sand, etc.
  8. Got a late start so I blew through on 75. Easy run all the way. I95 is terrible with the high winds tough.
  9. -'m coming in from the west side so 75 is the closest route from Chattanooga down. Last time through Atlanta I was pulling a heavy trailer with a pickup and had to run 90-95mph just to keep from getting run over. If I can find a good route around Atlanta I'd be happier but its already a 12hr run at minimum. Really don't want to be on the road much longer, but more than that I want to get there with me and the bike in one piece.
  10. I downloaded Waze and will try it. I'll play it by ear as I get close. I hope to have a little time to ride around but meeting the wife and kids down there. I'm sure they'll keep me busy all week. They left today to split the drive in half, I'm going to try to IB it in one day.
  11. I'll be coming through Atlanta tomorrow 2-3:00pm. Heading south on 75 to Daytona, I know with the road collapse traffic has shifted. Anyone familiar with the area have advice whether to run 75 or a better route? Gonna let the RSV stretch her legs for an 800 mile day.
  12. Update. I updated the maps and software on the Garmin and put it back on, noise gone. I then figured out the streaming music over the Bluetooth receiver was tinny and somewhat muted when the gps was on. I installed the MPOW filter in different places of the splitter, once I put it between the gps and splitter everything worked great. The final configuration is Garmin 550 with Mpow filter, Edsets splitter cable, cheap Bluetooth receiver that hard wired in to power so it shuts down on key off(ebay), and a 3.5mm splitter. I now have gps, cell phone calls, and streaming pandora all through my helmets on the aux setting. IMC wired headsets.
  13. Work got in the way of the bike for a couple days, don't ya hate it when that happens? I have a filter coming Wednesday, when I get it I'll open the fairing. I plan to grease all connections, move cables around to try to find it, and add the filter. I'll post what I find. Give me a wrench or a volt meter and I'm ok, start adding the "ronics " to electric and I gotta back up a step.
  14. Thank you. I didn't know that was available.
  15. I only tested it with engine off after install. Next morning when I tried it on the road it was noisy. I will open the fairing tomorrow and move the cables around to see if it makes a difference. Filter should be here Wednesday. I only ordered the 3.5mm filter, maybe should've got a power line filter also.
  16. Its a Streetpilot 550. I failed to mention it sounds fine with the engine off. I have the iPhone 7 so I can't plug it in to stream and charge at the same time. It only has one plug.
  17. The Garmin works great unti I use the Bluetooth receiver, unplug the Garmin and the receiver sounds fine. They are paired through a y splitter input. Would a wrong cable end act like that? :confused24:
  18. 07 RSV. I installed the Edset mic splitter with the Garmin to get my phone working correctly. I then plugged a Bluetooth receiver into the other input to stream Pandora. Either will work fine alone but when the garmin and receiver are both on I get terrible engine noise. Are the two inputs battling each other? Will a ground loop isolator fix this or can I only use one at a time? I've searched threads for hours and am still lost. I've ordered the MPOW filter in hope. We're leaving for Daytona next week and would love to get this right. Wired IMC headsets, factory sound system other than these add ons. Electronics are not my specialty. Thanks, Ronnie.
  19. I don't know how much it affects handling but there are lowering kits out there for the rear also. I have a Barons lowering kit collecting dust on my shelf. It was on the RSV when I bought it but I'm 6'2 with 34 inseam. I hated it and took it off and added leveling links to raise it about an inch higher than stock. Wife and I love it now.
  20. Added a Bluetooth receiver in the fairing of the RSV and installed an ignition bypass relay. Change the oil and do all the checks in the next two weeks and we're heading to Daytona. First big ride of the year.
  21. Back in my day everybody knew which bathroom to use. Sorry I just couldn't resist.
  22. That is a complete slave. It should just bolt in as is.
  23. That appears to be a new slave you're holding. What am I missing?
  24. That appears to be a new part. If so no worries about the bore. The bore is basically the hollow part of the cylinder that all the moving parts ride in. If an old one is rusty, pitted, scarred etc it won't seal. Go to the 1st gen tech library, engine and drivetrain section and look for write up on slave cylinder. It will walk you through the process.
