At about the same height as you I find the feet forward ride on my RSV is a lot more comfortable than my 86. I have a blast on the 1st gen for short rides around a couple of hours, then I have to park a while. I took the RSV 830 miles to Daytona only stopping long enough for fuel. My old knees and back enjoy the comfort.

Congrats. I know what it's like juggling 2 jobs when you're running one of them. I've got 2 more years of that before I can take early retirement from the fire service. I can only imagine the stress level you've dealt with doing what you've done for your brother in law. Kudos to you. Now enjoy the benefits of being self employed while dealing with the headaches of self employment. Once that balance is reached there's nothing Better.

I'd go this route because I'm sure riding a motorcycle in California or with California tags could cause cancer. I bet it's even in the owners manual.

Experiment with volume settings to cut wind noise through the mics. I've tried the balloon trick that didn't really work for me, has helped some people. I'm getting ready to order the mic mutes for that and an Amplirider to adjust phone volume. The tech library has write ups I used to link a GPS, phone, and a Bluetooth receiver to the factory setup so I can use the phone, stream music, and get directions through the headsets along with the intercom. I'll probably use the mic mutes to turn off the back seat directions too.

10+ years on a battery? Don't know if I've ever got 10 years out of two.

Air Force museum near Fort Walton Beach after we got chased out of Daytona by the weather. The only long ride I got in this year, but it was a great 1900 miles. Wind so strong the ocean was sideways.

Glad it's working. I had the same issue on my 07.

Fuses are sized to protect the equipment they run and the wiring going to it. Oversized fuses can melt wiring, fry equipment, and cause fires. Unfortunately I've seen cars catch fire from faulty wiring while setting in the garage. For your safety and a correct running bike the issue needs to be found.

That is my fear of small engines. I expect all my trucks to be workhorses when needed. A big V8!with more power than it needs doesn't have to work as hard to do the job. I buy trucks according to the job I need done, not fuel mileage. I'd rather buy a little extrA fuel along the way than pay huge repair bills from overuse. The best work truck I ever had was an 82 Chevy. I built a stroked 383 with an oem 350 cam and Qjet carb. All the torque you could want but got 22 mpg on the interstate. Make no mistake if I USED it hard it loved gas, but just driving it never needed to struggle so it sipped gas. I haven't really thought of that truck in 20 years, now y'all got me wanting to build another one.

I was using the old Google machine trying to repair my 1st Venture. Lurked and read a lot of fixes before joining. Dumbest move I made was lurking for so long. Best $12 I've ever spent.

With key in run position push the select button unti IC shows on the display. Using the up arrow button set the intercom volume to 20. You should then be able to just speak in the mic to test the headsets. If this doesn't work there are write ups in the tech library to troubleshoot the system. I've not had to go there yet personally. Others here can chime in on that.

Have you Checked the volume control? The button is only used for the CB unless you have mic mutes installed. The intercom is on all the time.

I went back and watched the rest of the video and figured out this is an independent company that used a Ford truck. I wasn't trying to start a Ford vs Chevy thing. We all have our preferences for our own reasons. I'm usually a bow tie guy but right now I have vehicles from all the big three and one Nissan. In my experience with Ford trucks the last 15-20 years they've been in a hurry to get new things out without enough long term testing. All manufacturers have some issues, I've just personally had fewer issues with GM.

I hope they do their homework better on this before it goes into production. I've repaired several heads on their 5.4s from blowing plugs. The fix for that was the plugs that snapped. Let alone the 6.0 debacle, Ford used a solid International engine but tried to squeeze too much out of it and created a monster. I don't mean to bash them but I'll never buy a new engine design from them until it proves out on the road.

Sorry I don't have part numbers. I know I've bought for Honda there but i don't remember ever having to rebuild any of my Venture calipers. I take the parts in and they mic the piston and bore, go to the shelf, and bring me seals. They usually even install the seals.

I'm not afraid of the bike at all, however the 1200 mile round trip in this weather gets me. I drove through the Rockies in a snow storm last month. Not really excited about doing another trip like that right now.

Just make sure they know it's for brakes to get the right type of rubber. Some rings don't like brake fluid. Like I said the shop I go to has a huge stock, kits for some of my bigger cylinders cost $200-250 but I get them apart and take in the parts to get them sized and just buy what I need for around $40. These are 6" diameter rams 6' long.

It's been so cold here this week people are buying up used HDs, they run an exhaust hose outside and use them for heat. :banana:

The fact I'm 600 miles away with snowy roads is all that's keeping me from going to check on it. If I knew she'd ride it I'd suck it up and go but she suffered a bad break in her right arm ina car wreck recently. Dr isn't sure she's going to get full motion back. While it's a good price I wouldn't profit from flipping it after my time and costs to go after it and fixing any issues it might have. You know there's always something even if it's just preventative from not knowing the service history.

If you have a hydraulic shop near you look there for o-rings. I rebuild cylinders now and then on some of my equipment and have found buying them separate instead of a kit saves a bunch of cash. Take your parts and they can mic them to gets perfect fit. The shop I deal with stocks a ton of sizes and types, the last ones I got for a brake cylinder cost a couple bucks.
