1983 venture on a 3200 mile trip
RDawson replied to furgason1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 83’s are plagued with a not if but when 2nd gear failure that some fix but can be ridden by skipping 2nd. There is also an issue with some frames corroding and breaking, do a search here to read up on it. That being said they are a blast to ride. -
I sent you a message with my contact info.

Measure from the top of the grab bar to your passenger’s desired height. The ones in the pic are 10-1/2inches for reference. They look a bit high to me but it’s where she wants them, as we all know she usually gets what she wants.

Not Corbin but I build these armrests for the Venture. $225 a set. Cup holder not included. No modification of the bike to install. Built to your choice of height.

Depending on timing I’m interested. Going to see the kiddo in Florida the 1st week of October.

NO RAIN!!! DIDN’T GET WET ONCE!!! First VR get together I’ve ever gone to that I didn’t get soaked. Great roads, fun rides, lots of laughs around the campfire. Can’t wait to do it again.

Had a great time, rolled in about 2:30 after a couple gas stops and a brunch break.

Sounds like the starter clutch is coming apart. Common issue. Here’s a link.

Newbie with 2009 original radio, CB, cassett
RDawson replied to Wagster's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Look on Amazon or eBay for a 12 volt BT receiver with 3.5mm cable. Mount it inside the front fairing jumping from the power plug on the lower left side. The aux plug in the cassette plugs in to the radio, put a 3.5mm Y cable there and you’re good to go. Comes on with the ignition and no batteries to keep charged. -
Been storming here the last few weeks, record setting rainfall and temps. Cooling down tomorrow, low 60’s when I leave Wednesday and 90’s when I come back Sunday.

Sorry to hear of your health issues. This site was the first I ever joined and is still my only forum because of the values you’ve instilled into it. I wish I had the knowledge to assist in keeping it going but I’m pretty technologically inept.

No, you don’t HAVE to change it, I just like riding better than pushing.

Joking Mike. Been running T4 for years.

I promise that was a joke @Skid, I would NEVER!!!! assault an officer of the law. Well except the fights with my brothers before they pinned on a badge.🤪🤪🤪 Almost got the bike ready for Vogel, anybody recommend a brand of oil when I change it?

Any possibility of brakes dragging?
