  1. I have the PCW set from Skydoc in both of my Ventures. Recently took a trip two up through the mountains without a slip. No problems on high interstate speeds either. Only thing I notice is clutch is a little stiffer to pull. Look under member vendors here to find Skydoc for kits.
  2. Is oil change overdue? Correct oil? Those will also make gear change difficult.
  3. Yep the used market isn't much right now. I'm going to try to unload the 1st gen this year. I know I'll take a beating but just don't ride it since I bought the 07. With long legs and beat up knees the 86 just isn't comfortable for long hauls. I gave 4K for the 07 with 30k miles on it last summer, that doesn't bode well for what the 86 will bring. Not enough $$$ in both of them to think of a new bike.
  4. And there is the issue. COMMON SENSE went out the window to make room for political correctness. The lack of common sense in our modern world scares me.
  5. Wouldn't the second and third gens automatically be hotter catching the exhaust off the 1st gen out front?😝😝😝
  6. The title got me. My wife says I'm screwed up and need help all the time. Good luck on the clutch.
  7. Don't let it get the best of you. I've made purchases in the past thinking it's " good enough" instead of holding out for what I wanted, then buyer remorse sets in. Be patient, have faith, and be ready to post some pics. And no I'm not good at following that advice. Good Luck.
  8. I went ahead and pulled the trigger to say we're coming, got the vacation day. The holdup may be MIL was just diagnosed terminal with Alzheimer's, we'll see what happens.
  9. I would pull the plug, oil the cylinder well and spin it to the compression stroke so valves are closed, then reinstall plug. Carb and tank dry is how I store the generator I use during power outages as they are few and far between here. I just fuel it up and crank it as needed. The bigger generator I use working gets stored with carb dry and tank filled to the top with alcahol free gas.
  10. Double check the kill switch on right bar.
  11. Yep. Lots o fun. I remember flying in 18 twenty five ton packs with a chopper on a toy factory on a humid day. The ground straps arcing enough to make you pucker, then starting them up two days later in the rain. I just can't understand why I don't miss that job. Industrial stuff for 13 years until a chemical plant made me decide I was done. Crazy stuff in there.
  12. I've never ridden the coveted 83, gotta say I like my Senior (86VR) though. She's been around the block a few times, knows what she wants and will get you a fast ride without any hesitation. Better brakes and no tranny issues of the 83. On the other hand I'm sorta partial to the Sophomore (07RSV), she's a little younger, takes a little more coaxing to get up to full speed, and and is a little wider in the hips so it's a softer ride that can go all day. So do you want one a little narrow in the hips like the 83, one that has more baggage ( MKII or 2nd gen) or something like the 2018 that will always be HOT? It's hard to pick only one year. I did pick up a 1969 model American made unit back in 92 that while may be a little wider in the hip now and may have a few more blemishes from the miles and two kids climbing all over her that will be what I keep when two wheels are no longer an option. If the 69 model reads this I'll probably be sleeping in the shop with the others. :innocent:
  13. :bang head:
  14. Hopefully they'll be straight up. My experience is that a rental car gets them in gear for a quicker settlement. To them rentals are extra expense and want to get it settled as soon as possible to get out from under that expense. Having gone thru this recently with wife's wreck they paid quick and a fair price. The medical is gonna drag out for a year or more, I hope they treat us right then too.
  15. I agree. With lawyers today he'd probably get out of it claiming self defense though. At the VERY LEAST hit and run and failure to aid should stick. Much stiffer penalties are deserved but who knows in today's legal system. I'm definitely not defending his actions but trying to see it from a legal standpoint.
  16. I just replayed the link, the original I saw went to a second video with an interview of biker. The link didn't do that. I'll try to find the second one.
  17. It said he was trying to get car to pull over. Driver could possibly claim fear of violence or self defense. I agree he didn't deserve that but trying to stop a car is a losing proposition. I'll admit to trying to get my hands on a driver before with ill intentions. Just wanted everyone to see and stay safe.
  18. I know I get highly irritated with cages but we're not gonna win a road rage battle. Watch this video from Florida and stay safe. Biker has to take some blame here. https://www.yahoo.com/news/driver-sought-cops-ramming-motorcyclist-132728068.html
  19. No it won't run the battery down. There's no power to the probe, it measured voltage when plugged into the battery. It's just annoying having a light on when riding. I followed the same write up when I did mine several years ago.
  20. It also helps if it is a reputable company. Some pay fairly, some are hell to deal with.
  21. In KY they pay market value plus sales tax. No book value, local dealer average of similar cars.
  22. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?489-Battery-Warning-Bypass Here is a link to bypass the probe. Make sure you use the correct resistor. Bad things happen if you don't.
