The detour just proved that while two wrongs don't make a right, 3 lefts does.

I changed the oil filter in the hotel parking lot because Bosch changed their deign and it started leaking.

The Bosch 3300 filter that's listed in the tech library cross reference doesn't fit anymore. Got back to the hotel Saturday night and later found a pool of oil under the bike. It now has the convex top like the Purolator. Rockin Robin looked it up and they're made by Purolator. Found an Auto Zone open this morning and got a Mobile filter for the trip home. Funny part is it didn't leak on the way up or most of the weekend, left an oil slick at the Red Roof.

We just rolled in. Thanks Don and Eileen for the hospitality. Had fun putting faces to screen names for the first time. We'll be around some more of these get togethers. Sorry y'all got the rain. We got our soaking on the way up, sun burned my arms on the 9hrs back.

Bad as it hurts me I'm going to have to trailer half way up. Weather is terrible here. Gonna leave the truck at a cousin's place and ride in. We'll get there Friday afternoon. I need the address if anyone can message it to me.

Looked in my parts pile, all I have is the two button controller from an 83 parts bike too. Was hoping I could bring a good one to MD.

While on our Spring break trip Walmart called me, my account was hacked to the tune of a new IPhone. Got that fixed, last week they got my wife's debit card for $1000. Finally got that taken care of.

I put a set on my RSV in April. One of the best things I've done to it.

Sooner or later they all get a "have to" fix, but there's such a sense of satisfaction in resurrecting an old one. Yes there may be a lot to getting one finished but if done right they are such a reliable machine you can go longer than the Energizer Bunny. To me it's like redoing a classic car but cheaper. There's nothing like running down the road knowing Yeah I did that. It's a sickness.

Hope y'all have the weather to get there. They're calling for thunderstorms from here to there this week. Really don't want to cage it.

24 years ago today this lovely young lady said I do. I still haven't figured out how I snagged her. We're going to take a road trip later this week to celebrate, to Freebird's. Two beautiful daughters later, one in med school and one in high school, she's still putting up with me.

Come down south. Everybody waves, bikes, cars, pedestrians, etc. We hold doors for everybody, men or women. If you make eye contact with someone you speak to them whether you know em or not. It's hilarious when I travel and ask somebody how's it going or speak of the weather. They look at me like I'm nuts. Thought I was gonna have to fight a guy on the beach once for speaking to his girl, just spoke in passing. Da@$& Yankees.

47 is awesome for a bike that heavy. I don't try to range miles per tank simply because it varies too much the way I ride. I get the best mileage two up on road trips. I'll get a variance of 5-8 mpg riding solo depending on the road and mood. I hit a good twisting road recently after a very bad day, I left some floor board edges ground into the road and a tank full of fuel in a short distance. The way I normally ride isn't near that aggressive and mileage shows it. I see both of your points, I just ride and think different. I usually have to stop way before the tank is dry to find the passenger a restroom anyway, I fill up every time I stop.

I check mileage every month or two to make sure everything is running right. My bikes are like my trucks, I buy what I want or need, mileage doesn't matter. I see a lot of threads about mileage pop up, am I the only one who doesn't care how much gas I use? If a few dollars in gas matters I shouldn't be buying bikes and riding anyway. Thoughts???

That sounds like a challenge!!! I want to see a 1st gen head to head with a 3rd. Ya see there's not a button to turn sport mode off on a 1st gen. Mines been in sport mode for 32 years, aint never looked at a twins tail light. :cool10: I haven't seen a 3rd on the road yet, but I'll keep a watch out in the mirror for yalll. Wave real big and I'll slow down for ya.

I would start by filling carbs through the fuel line and opening the drain plugs. If you get fuel there then you know the floats are operating. If you have to tear em back down make sure to blow out every tiny passage with carb cleaner and air.

Don't ya love it when you get the copy cats. I listed some new show equipment designs last year, within two weeks a guy from Texas not only took my design but cropped my pics down some to use on his website. I welcome competition but come on if you can't do your own designs I'd think you could at least take your own pics. :soapbox:

This should go without saying but CHECK YOUR PRESSURES. I was getting ready to leave the firehouse this morning when my relief officer showed up on his HD bagger. I noticed his front tire had some flex in it and asked him about it. It's the first time he's had it out this year. We had a pencil gauge in the station that didn't move on the front tire and showed 10 on the rear. He said it rode fine on the way in. So just a reminder check your bikes regularly and keep em upright. I've picked up way too many riders over the years and had to zip a bag over a few, never fun, STAY SAFE. You 3rd genners stick a gauge on it sometimes too, I've had a TPMS lie to me before on a car.
