  1. HHMMMMM I've been considering trying the IBA Saddle Sore 1000 after getting over this shoulder surgery. A Cowpuc hotdog M&G is approx 565 miles from here. A quick ride up (trusty Iphone says 8hrs), a few dogs, and a nap before heading south might just be what the dr ordered. Well actually the dr is trying to tell me I'm nuts for trying to get back on in the next couple weeks. He's wanting me to wait 6-8 more weeks. At 1130 miles round trip I could possibly turn it into a 1500 the next day.
  2. According to local police and media it isn't against the law in KY. There have been a couple of petitions to get it into law sent to Bevin without any progress.
  3. HHHMMMMMMM with that inline 6, double low, and snow plow I bet you'd have a good chance in getting all the way over to the Flyinfool's shed. You might even be able to push it over trapping that infernal machine.
  4. Are all 4 exhaust pipes heating up? My experience is that if it runs on choke the carbs are either stopped up or starving for fuel. Might check air filters to make sure no mouse nests. Check vent hoses from carbs and make sure they're clear.
  5. Has it been setting a while? If so I'd think carbs clogged. Did you hear fuel pump clicking?
  6. That's why I used the words "gentleman, asked, and explained ". True feelings and thoughts don't show in text and I wanted to use this as a good example, I should have also said "nicely asked". I never expected less from you. While I sometimes have a short fuse a friendly conversation usually gets better results in times like that. A little education goes a long way with most people and will hopefully keep someone safer in the future. See ya at Don's.
  7. Maybe if we call them just before leaving Don's and take the scenic route again they'll be ready when we get there :witch_brew:. At least they did give us a discount on the bill and tried to make it right. I still had a good time and got to meet people.
  8. I just saw a post from a trailing rider, 4 bikes coming home from an autism charity ride and ran into a heavy layer of grass. He leaves behind a young daughter. I was with Bongobob and Marcarl near Don's MD last year when Bob stopped and asked a gentleman mowing to stop blowing it on the road and explained the dangers. I have done the same, but we need help educating the public. The comments on FB blaming the rider are atrocious. Our local Sheriff posts often about the dangers but it's a common problem here.
  9. I just got a call a bike went down due to grass clippings covering the road in the next county over. Sadly the rider didn't make it.
  10. Points are under the plastic cap on the pump. Look in tech library, it's an easy repair.
  11. McKibben Motorsports Lake Wales Star Venture Transcontinental $19,995. Found Deluxes for less.
  12. Last time I posted one for this price Freebird had already snatched it up.
  13. Just saw a new one on Cycle Trader in Florida. $19,999.
  14. That's sickening. Glad you're ok.
  15. My 07 flashers only work with key on.
  16. There are old threads discussing this from before the first ones were delivered. Some including me made the statement about buying the first run of anything would include some issues. Bikes, cars, trucks, etc are going to find a few growing pains with new designs. That being said if I laid out that kind of cash and had problems quickly I'd be somewhat upset too. I bought my wife a new car in 94 that exhibited some electrical/electronic issues is the first two weeks, Oldsmobile had the car more than we did that month. After some urging by me they stepped up and gave us another identical car that we put nearly 200k on with only maintenance parts ( water pump, brakes, etc). I'm sure Yamaha will stand behind their issues and make it right. While I've said it before the gen 3 isn't the bike for me I hope it's the best thing to come along since the 1st gens and give miles of smiles.
  17. I hate that this is turning somewhat political. It doesn't matter to me if someone served in combat, in support roles, or during peacetime. I started the post when I saw it was VN Veterans Day, I have the same respect for every veteran that has served this great country. VN era vets got shorted by the attitude of many back then and even though I was too young to know anything about it I'm bothered by it. So hats off to all veterans.
  18. Born in 1970 I was a tad too young but I have several friends who put in time over there, my grandfather served in WWI. While a spinal injury derailed my high school plans to join I hold deep respect for those who have.
  19. In honor of today let me say thank you to those who served.
  20. That's exactly what I could see happening here. 4x4 trucks crosswise of the street. They will run people driving in the left lane off the road, brake checks, etc. so dirt bikes wouldn't stand a chance.
  21. The whole chase thing is a sticky situation. I've seen departments stop all pursuits, then it seemed like too many people took it as a get out of jail free card and tried to run from everything. I don't know the best approach to it. Lucky I live in a small town so we don't see these mobs run atv's and dirt bikes like this. With the number of redneckes with big trucks on our roads I think problems like this would be solved without police help. Enough crushed bikes would curb the issue.
  22. Wow. As hard as it is to go 24 hrs straight riding I can't imagine it on a dyno. The boredom alone would be murder. Hats off to him and a good cause.
  23. Nor will it be the same afterwards if my suspicions hold true
  24. I finally hit it big and won. 4 whole dollars on a ticket that only cost me $6.
  25. I put one in my 86 because I knew I was going to buy a 2nd gen soon and saved a little cash. I don't have enough miles to give much opinion but works so far. If I was keeping one long term I'd go with Dano's mod. Haven't heard anything that would discourage me from that investment.
