  1. Yes the bypass is easy and well worth the effort. Here is the link, it was the first thing I did to my MK2 after finding VRO. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?489-Battery-Warning-Bypass
  2. Struck out on finding one local so instead of chancing UPS damaging the replacement I took a 400 mile trip to meet Mike Eycamp and his wife with the new bag. We met at the Rootbeer Stand for lunch and installed the bag. All is well in the world again.
  3. Unfortunately it happens. A couple years ago I replaced some bearings on a 45 race car trailer and got an important call just as I set it back down, I got distracted with the call and forgot to torque the wheel. Being a triple axle behind a day cab I never felt any vibration, however I did feel it when the wheel came off and hit the wheel behind it. Luckily it didn't hit anything else but at 75mph it launched thru the woods and was gone forever. I'd talk to the guy and give him another chance, we've all done stupid things.
  4. Rode mine for the first time since getting home from MD. Had some surgery two days after we got back so today was the first time I felt like I could set the saddle. Felt good but only 25 miles.
  5. I'm with Vaz. Had a truck tire delaminate once, plenty of tread but 12 yrs old. 80 mph with a loaded gooseneck one dual let loose, that was enough for me. I will admit it showed dry rot and cracking but since then nothing over 7 yrs old on my autos. 5 yrs on a bike. I also admit I'm extremely anal about tires, we never wear them to the wear bars before replacing. I've zipped too many bags over people from neglected maintenance, my kids laugh at me checking their tires shocks, tie rods, etc.
  6. I was just on there looking at the signals Leo has. From the home page hit shop-by vehicle- Yamaha. Think I'm gonna order the front signals from them and trying to decide which headlight I want.
  7. You're right, I have changed the rear on this lift but the jack is easier. I'm not backing it on to change the front. Valve job, any engine work, cleaning the bike, etc it's the berries. The knees and back appreciate it. I only did the rear on it because I was waiting for shims to come in and didn't want to move it torn down.
  8. How long since fluid change? Is fluid clear like it should be or brown and nasty? Fresh clean fluid, bleed the system, make sure the small return passage in the master cylinder isn't clogged.
  9. Only problem I see is we aren't there.
  10. I use the HF unit with my RSV, I have long enough legs to ride it on and use a chock in place of the clamp so it stays vertical when I step off. It's not wide enough to put the kickstand down without a block on the floor.
  11. Congrats on the ride. Don't let the 20k on the clock bother you, it's not even broken in yet. My 07 doesn't have the whine bad at all but the Motorkote is interesting as a lot have the issue. Keep an eye on the cheaper pads since you're stopping a heavy bike and ride it like you stole it. Remember she's not a twin and likes to rev. Tennessee has some great roads to cruise.
  12. Nice. Now just find time to enjoy it.
  13. I have the HF unit, like Kretz said he prepared to change out the clamp it's pretty flimsy. I also use the lock bar and don't let the hydraulics hold the weight if it's gonna be up there long. Instead of a clamp I built a chock I ride into to hold it. I caught them on sale last fall and bought one, next day I saw a near new used one cheap so I bought it and returned the new one. It was great when I did my valve adjustment and service.
  14. Get your valve stems to the 6:00 position and spray soap water around them and try to wiggle them around looking for bubbles. Take off the caps and spray into the valves. At 5-6 psi a week the leak may not show up instantly, let it set a while and look for the bubbles. I'm against sealers in my tires and if it's leaking at the bead they may never get in there to seal it anyway. AND if any of our tips so far work I'd find a new tire shop.
  15. Is "ickyness" the technical term?
  16. I'd check the valve core first and then around the stem. Not all dealers change valve stems.
  17. You better grab it. You'll have a one of a kind.
  18. The local HD dealer is advertising a push it- pull it- drag it sale. They trade on anything running or not. Now I understand how they get repeat customers. I stopped in looking for a tail light gasket and wasn't gonna be that way until the Jap bike comments started flying. All good natured ribbing but it did get to one salesman when I told them that. All in all a fun few minutes of visiting but they didn't have my part.
  19. I have the tall 2 piece Bagger shield. The knobs are low enough that they don't bother me. It's a bit tall for me, I'm looking thru it in the rain. I'm considering drilling more holes in it to lower it instead of cutting it down. I only tried it once with the top removed and didn't like the the low windshield but do like the added width.
  20. Give those blue ones a little time in the sun. A man once told me the faded blue ones are fastest.
  21. Just saw that the driver was arrested and charged with 7 counts of negligent homicide.
  22. Best thing in the toolbox: familiarize yourself with the member map and members in the area you're traveling. All the tools and knowledge in the world out there
  23. Too much going on there for me. I'm hardwired to the bike so I don't have to deal with dead batteries in my helmets and I have two rear view mirrors to see what's behind me.
  24. Do they match the Mag light from last year?
