  1. There is an old post discussing cruise not working at some speeds after a VMax rear gear swap. If I remember correctly(50/50 shot on that) the leading theory had something to do with the TCI using a speed/rpm comparison to compute the gear. That's all above my head-I know very little when electronics come in to play. If that's the case could you use a SpeedoDRD or healer to trick it by throwing the Speedo off and using a gps or phone app for a Speedo? Maybe set it to show 55-60 while in third at mid rpms and try to set the cruise? Im thinking WAY outside the box and maybe completely off the reservation on this one. EDIT: after thinking some more, if this works for low speed use it would kill the cruise at highway speeds because of the 80mph limit. There's my DUH moment for the day.
  2. Yeah what the Fool said. (Not foolish at all). You're risking injury and damage to a bike worth way more than a welded adapter. Fixes in a bottle and welders in a tube are not high on my list.
  3. Is the slave leaking? If air can get in fluid will come out. How long since an oil change? Old oil makes it hard to shift.
  4. Well since I didn't get to say unlock it I'm not much help. I do have a right lid from my 07 blue if you end up needing one. I broke my right bag and bought a whole bag from Eykamp. The lid and hinge are still good.
  5. I commented on the FB post, mine are XL. I check with the small guys at work n see if I can find one.
  6. Being that we work with the cops at wrecks all the time I know most of the locals so it's built into a habit to wave at them. Not to mention my dad and two of my brothers retired from law enforcement.
  7. Glad to hear you back in the saddle.
  8. I was sitting in a dr office taking my physical to go to work for the fire dept.
  9. Unplugging the tank only kills the gauge. Don't assume anything when it comes to electrical, relay could be good or it could be stuck in the on position. Verify the relay and use a 3-5 psi pump, the points in the OEM are easy to change. The aftermarket pump may not have points at all. Whatever the reason for the smoke, fire and gas make a bad situation so I'd pull that pump and make sure what you have.
  10. Fuel injection pump? What is the pressure output? The RSV only runs around 3-5 psi, most FI pumps run much higher.
  11. I usually wave, depends on the other drivers how many fingers I use.
  12. So sorry to hear this. With two daughters of my own I can't remotely fathom what you're dealing with. Prayers up for you and your family.
  13. Dang. Now I know why the Dunop's never lasted for me. I use Rotella.
  14. When you get over this post you might as well do some oil reviews. About the same number of opinions.
  15. Yep he's the one. Great to deal with, I've bought a few things from him.
  16. No, not implying at all. I'm not a fan of filing points. If I see any deformity at all I replace them. To change em it's one solder joint and make sure the lever is in the shaft slot.
  17. Get them from Amazon. Other posts here with the number. I think I gave around $30.
  18. The points are what usually fails on the pumps. At 33k I'd pull the black plastic end off the pump and at least check them. Not a hard fix but mine were completely fried at 45k.
  19. We talked about the Shores last night, I'll be 50 by then. I'll probably reserve a spot next day or two.
  20. Well I guess it's good that I can't be there, according to Tom I'm not old enough yet. Still outside looking in at 50.
  21. Check with Skydoc_17, he has a shim set he loans with the purchase of the gaskets. Makes the job much easier. I used it last spring.
  22. Really wish I could be there to help. Give my best to Becky.
  23. Ha Puc, you should've heard the feedback I got when my oldest daughter went to school the day after her 8th birthday (16 years ago). Her teacher asked in front of the class what she got for her birthday and didn't expect to hear ear piercings and a shotgun. She came running to my wife's classroom to see if I really bought it for her. Fast forward 7 years to my youngest's birthday with the same teacher and it happened again. They both filled the freezer with venison and youngest still hunts with me. They have the knowledge and respect for it. The 17 yr old will debate anybody toe to toe over the 2nd amendment and she won't back down.
  24. Depends what you want the phone to do. You can run music by plugging in beside the cassette. Using an Edsets splitter cable and either their Bluestreak or certain Garmin GPS units you can talk on the phone through the wired headset. I used an EBay Bluetooth receiver mounted in the fairing to stream music but the Bluestreak will do that too.
  25. Thanks Puc, as I said I don't have experience with neck bearings. I never use a pressure washer and never put enough miles on one to worry about it. It was after the wife decided to try riding that we started traveling on a bike. I've probably put more miles on in the last two years than the previous 20. I'm pretty handy with a wrench and know where to ask help when I need it.
