  1. We just got our first case here, now trying to decide whether to attend a memorial ride tomorrow.
  2. Yep, dealt with Earl a few times. Always been great to me.
  3. Check with Skydoc17, I seem to remember him selling stainless line kits.
  4. We somewhat agree. The virus is real without a doubt, I just believe it has been blown out of proportion. I don’t advocate ignoring it or claim it’s a conspiracy. The reaction may very well be conspired upon. I will treat this like the flu pandemics by washing my hands. I usually avoid people for the most part simply because I don’t like crowds. I luckily have a very high immune system so for the most part I’ll ignore it beyond the basics.
  5. When in June? We may be riding over there too. This Saturday I’m going on a motorcycle awareness/ safety ride. This is the 5th and final ride put on by a local woman in honor of her younger sister that was killed 5 years ago last week when a car ran a stop sign taking out both her and her husband. The sponsor quit riding last year after her son was right behind his buddy that was hit by another car.
  6. On a side note my wife is sitting in an empty classroom trying to answer questions from and trying to help parents home school their children. When this is over, if nothing else, I hope more parents realize what our educators go through teaching their “perfect” student and take a more proactive approach to education and discipline. She spent all last evening on emails, texts, and calls from parents after spending the day in the classroom. I call that a reality check.
  7. OK I’ll try this again. I hadn’t seen Carl’s post first time I tried. I also have looked at the numbers and talked to multiple people in the health care industry. The numbers published show only confirmed cases and deaths. What they do not show is WHO has it and have passed. The elderly and others with compromised immune systems are at risk. The average healthy person will show flu like symptoms and recover. Now how many out there are like me and won’t go to the dr with flu symptoms? I stay home a few days and go about my business. That alone skews the numbers since I wasn’t “diagnosed” I never had it or recovered. If my mother were to get the virus she would be high risk due to other health issues, if she were to pass it would be blamed on the virus when in reality she could pass at any time without the virus. The only death so far in KY exactly mirrors that case. The media has incited panic in the masses pushing the government to overreact, businesses will suffer, parents are losing work with schools closed, the economy will take time to recover, and the same people who wouldn’t have gotten sick in the first place will think they accomplished something. I know my occupation has given me a cold outlook on death but it also gives me a realistic look on life, like Forest Gump said: **** Happens. One more fact on the numbers is that only high risk people are being tested, so we have no idea who else has it and are being treated for flu and will also recover never being diagnosed. Now something else the numbers won’t show is how many people with service jobs in restaurants, daycares, etc will suffer long term effects from not working when in reality they were at no more risk than they were with the flu going around? See the political ramifications?
  8. Dang it. I typed up a fairly long reply Patch somewhat mirroring what Carl said, I also think the numbers are skewed as reported. Some kind of glitch stopped me from posting it. Is Don in on the conspiracy?😳😳😳Ha. I’ll try to redo it later when I have a few minutes.
  9. Girls are gone and the septic works fine. Food in the freezer and guns on the wall. I did see some numbers today from US and China, I still believe this has been blown completely out of proportion for political reasons and things will soon be back to normal. I have a close friend high up in the military health system that is laughing at the panic and says it’s a drop in the bucket as to what it’s being made to be.
  10. I carry a foot operated bicycle pump from Walmart. Doesn’t take much space and no battery worries. Don’t know how long it takes to pump up a tire because I’m prepared so I won’t need it.
  11. I have two packs of the high dollar Cottonelle, a case of water, 15# fresh frozen deer steaks, and an endless supply of well water, looking to trade for a low mile RSV or Chevy 4x4. Might throw in some country ham and bars of soap for the right one.
  12. For once Don listen to the doc and Eilene. I get it on the work part, dr that operated on me when I cut off the finger tip told me that self employed people are the fastest healers. We’re not!!!! We’re just harder headed and want the work done, the stairlift will still be waiting on you for a few days.
  13. I don’t consider the amounts I have on hand hoarding but I have enough food, supplies, and even TP to see us through. I always have enough ammo to make sure we have everything we need. I believe this is going away soon as the media has something new to use to blast .............stopping there before I get political.
  14. Schools here closed for two weeks. Teachers had to rush in Thursday night and prep two weeks of home study materials. Teachers will have to go to work each day. The cafeterias will open and provide food to be picked up by parents or delivered by school officials for those who need it. There is no plan to make up these days since they are using home study and online tutoring.
  15. I’m trying to start the rumor that the election will be canceled due to the virus. If I can get the media to pick it up the virus will be yesterday’s news and we can go back to normal. :witch_brew: I love the 3 sea shell connection there Patch.
  16. People are going absolutely crazy here too. We stop by a grocery once each shift to get food to cook at the station, today it was packed with people looking at empty shelves. Canned veggies were nearly gone, meat cases hammered, paper aisle was empty, dried beans and pasta gone. I’m not a prepper but am a hunter, daughter and I filled the freezer with deer, caught bacon on sale and bought 50#, and a couple country hams. I buy veggies by the case simply because I don’t like shopping often. The intake is taken care of for a while, not sure about the output if we don’t get TP in the next week or two. I still don’t get the bottled water, most of our population is on municipal water systems. I have a great well. Is this stuff gonna dry up our water too?
  17. Blue is best. Faded blue is fastest. A guy named Dan told me that.
  18. Hey Boss I just sent your $12 birthday present again this year.

    Air?

The virus has officially hit KY now. I got a push notification from the local news that the first case had been noted, 15 minutes later I got a text from the oldest daughter that it was in the hospital where the med students study. Mama's not happy that her little girl (25 y/o dr to be) is in the same hospital with it.
  20. :bawling:We really enjoyed the last couple MDs but I don't think we can do June this year. The Dr to be will be home for a few weeks in June and the rocket scientist won't have moved off yet so I promised mama we could take them on another family vacation while we have them together. Since there's no beach around there and the pond monster will terrorize them it looks like we'll be heading south for white sand and hot sun. I'm really not enjoying the kids leaving home but after this summer we will officially be empty nesters.
  21. Or Mama just order the tires and present them to him. All you have to do is ask the forum which tires to buy, but by the time you read all the opinions on that MD will have come and gone.

    Air?

The fire dept here doesn't run ambulances but with the much lower number of fires today we have started to run backup for EMS. I much prefer the fire/rescue side of things that I signed on for. That being said we often beat EMS on runs closer to us and it has made a difference for some when we can shock the ticker a few minutes earlier. I get why we do it, we're here getting paid so why not use us between fires. It makes sense but I'd rather leave the doctoring to my daughter.

    Air?

We had an emergency responders meeting today about the virus. Felt good to be reminded that we are on the front line walking into houses and buildings to package patients. Yay Us. Citizens are much safer today than yesteryear when we had more fires and worse auto accidents but stuff like this makes me miss the days of spending all our time fighting fires and working wrecks. The more EMS creeps into the fire service the more I look forward to retirement. 22 months and counting down. What used to be a lot of :fireman::fireman:has turned into a lot of :223:.
  24. Awesome. It started here that way too, she had never been on a bike and mentioned trying it. One short ride on a Virago and she said she might like it. I started looking for a tourer and found my 1st gen Venture. We rode it on day trips until I found the 2nd gen that fit us better. Now we go on vacations on the bike and every time the weather clears on a day off she mentions a ride if I don't beat her to it. Loving every minute of it.
  25. And the VR channel is 29.
