  1. Double check “back up” 10 amp fuse in left side box and “audio” 10 amp fuse in the front lower box both have power on both sides of the fuse.
  2. Read this thread before you jump in deep. There are other threads here on the same subject. Most of your list isn’t terrible to fix. Unfortunately the 2nd gear issue along with the frame makes the 83-85s a little less desirable. Hopefully the 1st gen guys will be along shortly. @skydoc_17 @Marcarl @saddlebum plastic parts are getting really hard to find in decent shape.
  3. Inches??? I thought you Eh teamers measured in M&Ms. 🤣🤣🤣
  4. There are limits on trial members posting pictures due to the site being overrun with spammers/scammers in the past. Admins spend a lot of time doing a great job keeping them out and the site cleaned up. As far as buying you need to comment on the post or message the person selling something. Use the @ symbol and username to tag them. Example: @LeesBike
  5. Did you remove the final drive, Get the driveshaft u-joint lined up when putting it back? Wheel seated back in final drive?
  6. 87 is recommended by Yamaha. High octane fuel burns slower and builds carbon. I run alcohol free locally when the bike may set more, I can only get it in 90. On trips I stick to 87.
  7. On MC tires I always got one front to two rears. Weight and the acceleration wears the rears faster. Now that I’m darkside I get two or three fronts to one rear.
  8. Be mindful of sloshing water in a cooler. I threw 3 gallons of gas in a 5 gallon can on mine and you could really feel it in the curves.
  9. You’re right, this shouldn’t be happening no matter which side you’re on. I have more views that I won’t post here as this isn’t the place for it.
  10. Contact @skydoc_17. He has a “loaner kit” deal that makes the job easier.
  11. Yesterday was a great riding day.I met up with KyRider and some of his buddies to head up into Illinois to eat. Put in around 200 miles total.
  12. Thanks. Guess my old timers is kicking in.
  13. Ron and Tina texted they also got home and stayed dry all the way.
  14. Took the bikes for a boat ride.
  15. Here’s some good reading. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/forums/forum/15-venture-and-venture-royale-tech-library-83-93-read-only/
  16. Here is the VIN starting 2nd gear fix. my memory is 84 but this says 85, @Marcarl. @skydoc_17???
  17. This opens a big can of worms. Unfortunately the value of the 1st gens is to the point you can buy one running cheaper than doing a restoration. The 83’s and early 84’s had an issue of losing 2nd gear, I’d definitely make sure the vin is a post correction bike before sinking cash in it. Hopefully @skydoc_17 @Marcarland some other 1st gen guys see this and chime in on recommendations. That being said there’s no bike on the road more fun to ride than a 1st gen that’s road ready.
  18. First bikes have arrived, the Blevins are here. Waiting to hear from @skydoc_17, something fell off a truck and damaged his truck in West Virginia this morning.
  19. All us old farts gotta stick together
  20. Hopefully a minor fix.
  21. Looks like the weatherman is cooperating with us pretty well. We’ll have to dodge some areas with last week’s storm damage. Wife n I went out yesterday and spent half a day clearing a road of storm debris so we can ride it.
  22. ABS plumbing pipe dissolved in acetone makes a very good “putty” to form and glue fairing pieces.
  23. Sometimes when you vacuum bleed air seeps around the threads of the bleeder. I always do the old pump n release a few times to finish up and make sure there’s no air left. .
  24. We made it through the night with most of the damage staying north of us, I do have some chainsaw work to do though. We’ll ride the planned routes again soon as there will be some adjustments due to tornado and flood damage. Yesterday/last night was a humdinger. Couple of my friends didn’t get out as lucky.
