I use Walmart carb cleaner for situations like this. It makes an excellent degreaser. Outside and away from sparks.

Welcome back. I’m in Calloway Co, West end of the state. We’re up the WK Pkwy pretty often, maybe we can hook up sometime.

Welcome aboard. Like I told you there’s nothing that can go wrong on the bike you can’t find the answer here to. Tons of fun and get togethers for just $12.

Went through it buying the wife’s first new car years ago. Back then they had a first time buyer discount so we did it in her name. She signed most of the papers before I looked at them. He loaded it up with extras without asking. I read over the contract and ripped it in half in front of him, he too had to reprint and re-figure. Had his tail between his legs after that.

Help... looking to buy 2000 Venture and need input beforehand
RDawson replied to byekryam's topic in Watering Hole
This part of the country they’re running 4K and up. Most are in the $6000 and up asking price, not necessarily selling price. Insurance Co valued mine at $6900 last week. -
Congrats. Hope y’all enjoy it.

Help... looking to buy 2000 Venture and need input beforehand
RDawson replied to byekryam's topic in Watering Hole
I've got 68,000 on mine and hoping to take off to Asheville next month. Runs great, no oil usage, and like setting on the couch. I hope to get another 150-200K out of it. I retire in a couple weeks and plan to run the wheels off of it. -

The hot cylinder could point to one carb having issues running lean. I second the raising the rear to help handling. I’m 6’2” and love it. -
If I get to make it I’ll be at a hotel nearby, Any recommendations on one? Don’t have to be fancy, bed n a hot shower as long as it’s clean.

RDawson replied to Pop's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It’s a very small low pressure pump. I don’t remember the pressure but it’s low. -
Royal Star fuel pump in a first gen?

Oreilly sells a low pressure pump I used in my 86. Mr. Gasket I believe. Had to add a fitting or two to get the angle on the line. -
All my damage is mounting tabs on the inner and a bolt hole broke out on the outer. Think a little ABS softened with MEK and some flat ABS will work.

Nope. I guarantee if we’re outta gas and pushing she ain’t talking. Either yelling or I’m getting the silent treatment. 🤣🤣🤣

Has anyone replaced thePTT switch? Know where to get it? The parts fiche only shows replacing the whole assembly. I’ve cleaned the contacts in the past to get more life out of it but it’s getting irritating. I use Mic Mutes so I need it operational. If I can’t find an OEM I’ll either have to replace it all or rig a new micro switch in there.

2nd Gen one piece inner. I’m gonna repair it myself since it shouldn’t involve any paint. The damage is all on hidden areas. I was worried they’d try to total it because of part availability, I wasn’t interested in totaling it. They haven’t made an offer yet but the damage estimate is in the $3k range.

headlights and cpu lamp issues
RDawson replied to Max's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 86 is the same story. I found this site by googling problems with it. After multiple problems every search brought me here, I felt a little guilty for the free help and joined. Best thing I ever did, met new friends I didn’t know I had and enjoy the get togethers. -

Ain’t it cool how much time and headache $12 saves? The gurus came thru again 😂 -
Oh boy, I can just imagine my life if I came home with a 1/2 helmet!!!! Dr daughter’s first call on the ambulance during pre-med was an over the bars faceplant (1/2helmet). She’s been on me since then to quit riding, seems the visible brain matter made an impression on her. Now she’s in the ER she sees worse. While we know and I’m sure she does too, choice of helmet probably made no difference in the outcome of that wreck. it makes her and the wife feel better with more helmet. I’ll take the hit and wear a lid to make them happy. Daughter called to say hi while we were shopping, mom told her what we were doing and she instantly replied “one with a full face, right?” Not too happy with my incident last week with open face.

We spent the day driving around a few dealers and tried on several helmets, both 3/4 and modular. I like the 3/4 HJC i30 and the Scorpion EXO930 modular. Being unfamiliar with Scorpion I’ve read several reviews that are making me lean that way. I think this helmet will make wife an Dr. Daughter happy. They did run small so we have to move up a size, the issue right now is the one color/size we want is out of stock. It’s very comfortable, chin bar and visor work smooth and lock in place well. The chin bar is removable to use as a 3/4 when preferred. It has the drop down (fighter pilot) sun shade, I’m looking to see if that lens is available in yellow since I wear sunglasses anyway. Priced around $250 it’s not real expensive. I really like HJC 3/4s but didn’t like any of their modulars, felt like my head was in a vise. We liked the look of the LS helmets with the chin bar flipping all the way back and out of the airflow but it just wasn’t comfortable for us.

I guess you could call the interior craft style. I bought a 50x100 I-beam/purling building for my business. I blew my shoulder before erecting it, after deciding to retire we came up with the plan of building the house inside the front of it and having a 3400 sq ft garage/shop. I’ll probably brick the front.

We’ve decided to go with a no Sheetrock or paint interior in the new place. All walls and ceilings will be some type of wood finish, brick, or stone. I’m planning to do built-in cabinets with an old look to them. To me that’s the hardest look to achieve, modern methods, materials, and fasteners and yet look old while operating like new. Once I figure it out I’ll hafta try to do that to my body.

According to what I read on the HJC website smal thru large used the same shell, padding thickness adjusted the fit size. XL and up used another sized shell.

I won’t buy a helmet without trying it on. Too many variations out there. I’ll pay extra at a brick and mortar store. Same way with shoes.
