  1. Yes you can use both front calipers. @skydoc_17sells a complete delink kit to solve all the problems. He’s gone on vacation right now, he has a new grandson, but can fix you up.
  2. I spoke to Earl last week. He’s on vacation visiting his new grandson. He’s still in business but gone for a couple weeks. Great guy to do business with.
  3. Check grounds. A loose or dirty ground somewhere can have other circuits chasing ground through there. Check all safety switches and wiring on the start circuit, clutch, neutral safety switch, side stand. The clutch switch on the Venture has two sets of contacts, pulling the clutch closes the start circuit and opens the cruise control contacts.
  4. About done??? Are they ever done? I spent most of the day installing taller bars, longer cables, and all the parts I ordered during a weak moment in front of a Kuryakyn catalog. Grips, bosses, weights, footpegs with stirrups. Shoulder problems started this upgrade.
  5. All missing socks are reincarnated as extra Tupperware lids.
  6. A fix for all those missing 10mm’s. Ole Harbor Freight figured it out.
  7. I wholeheartedly agree. The proven reliability of the V4 and lack of vibration were big sellers for me in choosing the RSV. I like to make Harley jokes as much as anybody just as I do Fords, I also enjoy getting roasted about my Chevy’s and rice burner bikes but there’s nothing wrong with Harley or Ford if it’s what you like. That being said if I wanted a V-twin I’d have bought one instead of Yam. My other turn off is the addition of so much tech, I like to fix my own stuff but am a techno-phobe. I already gave up working on my truck but still like tinkering with the bike. I sure would’ve liked trying a new V-Max powered, fixed fairing, water cooled rocket without key fobs and touch screens. Maybe my old boss was onto something when he accused me of being resistant to change🤷🤷🤷
  8. It’s going to run terrible while you watch the slides. The airbox lid must be on to run right.
  9. Glad to hear y’all are back in the saddle. We just got back from a few days in Missouri and the Ozarks.
  10. Notice how I channeled my inner Puc and told a story with me answer🤪🤪🤪
  11. Looks like a great trip. We plan something similar when the school marm retires.
  12. At parking lot speeds they do have heavy steering, there are ways to offset that. Beyond that they ride great, I would start with tire pressure and fork pressure checks. The forks are not pressure equalized and must be set individually, not hard with a zero loss pump. Funny story on the tire pressure when I bought mine, I test rode it and wouldn’t get above 30-35 mph because the handling was so bad. I didn’t buy it and told the owner there was a problem with the steering. After thinking about it I went back and checked the pressures, both nearly flat. I had ASS-U-MEd any seller would check tires knowing a buyer was coming to test it. Aired them up, rode it, bought it.
  13. They do but it’s almost as high as the whole seat.
  14. Anybody have a lead on quality 2nd Gen seat covers? My front has a couple spots starting to split at the seams. Really thinking of installing the Corbin and sending them to Rick but don’t want to spend $$ on a bad seat. Partzilla has them but only $49 cheaper than the whole seat, may just order a new seat delivered to Rick and have him work his magic before I see it.
  15. Now Joe, you may as well ask which oil to use too.
  16. @Dragon Riderhad a 1st gen trike, maybe he could answer it . Last I knew Hannigan’s had one.
  17. @Freebird any trouble getting the risers? @WIZsent me some taller bars and I’m trying to decide whether to do risers too. Ordered Kuryakyn grips, bosses, and weights for them already.
  18. I just used the recommended resistor, light was out so I quit.
  19. I don’t recommend the 404 on rear unless you like changing them. My 86 ate em in a short while.
  20. You’re a long way from KY or I’d help you out on an 86. Got one I parked in the shop 4 or 5 years ago when I went 2nd Gen. I thought I’d still ride it sometimes but didn’t.
  21. Welcome @IMSA GTP FanPost over in the 1st gen tech forum or watering hole to get more info. You’re going to find linked brakes on all 1st gens, talk to @skydoc_17about his de-link kit. 83’s and the early 84’s have a second gear issue that’ll have to be checked on. As far as the engine These things are bulletproof as is, maybe check the valve clearance and run it like you stole it. Only way I’ve ever heard of one going down is from carbs leaking and hydro locking the engine, keep carbs clean and you’re good. They love to rev and are a blast to ride.
  22. Looks suspiciously familiar to me. Maybe a conspiracy going on? Congrats Skid.
  23. Or an 08 Ultra Classic?
  24. Let me guess, it’s a HD.
