  1. There are a lot of folks here that will know for sure if it's the same
  2. YamaDuck - I have a right engine guard -06 TD. Has a tiny scratch/scrape where it hit the floorboard. (I hit a dog and it got pushed back. I pushed it back into place and it seemed fine but, since the owner of the dog was paying to fix everything, I went ahead and had it replaced.) Interested?
  3. you say 7.2 but the diesels are 7.3 . If is is diesel - it is probably the camshaft position sensor. If it's gas - no clue
  4. Another thing to consider - if you are like m, It will take you quite a while to put it back together - the shop would probably have it back in 2-3 weeks and you would be back to riding. If they give you the money, are they considering it totaled? (Doesn't sound like it) Would it have a salvage title(Doesn't sound like it) Did the estimate give you a itemized parts list? I know they get high quick - I hit a dog and had the right lower fairing, right drivers floorboard, front crash guard, and the 2 inner fairing pieces replaced - it was over $850. So I am betting that bid includes replacing everything that was scratched. I know you are mechanical enough to fix it and do good work (I've been watching the fairing). HERE'S AN IDEA! You could take the money, sell the bike, buy a new venture and just ship that fairing over this way!! That works out good for both of us!!
  5. I have a friend with an 1100 shadow - he likes it but I don't feel like he is really safe on the interstate - just not enough go (I think 80-85 is around his top end). I had a c50 - nice bike but no air adjust on the front forks. Took it to 90 several times and still had more. I don't like the drums on the back and the front tended to dive while braking hard, but - I more than double your daughters weight. Dependable as all getout and ran great. my wife took the MSF and then got on the c50 and did 20 miles in a parking lot for practice. Seat height was fine but she was intimidated by just the feel of size of it. Other than that, she liked it and handled it just fine. I know where there is a 02 Vulcan (not sure if is 850 or 1500) looks to be in good shape and you could get it for around 2200 or 2300. 54k miles. Is at a title pawn place and I know the guy is behind on his payments. Talked to the lady there the other day and I know she is about ready to take it over from the guy.
  6. We have an 06 Tour Deluxe. It doesn't have "the Whine" but has what has been described in motorcycle reviews as something of a whine caused by a long intake tract. It is not a problem - Do have relatively loud BUB's - They sound great. I heard a guy at a station crank his TD up and it was terrible but he was sitting still (Clutch engaged.) His shop was going to put in an I basket but we haven't heard it since then. Hope that isn't scary - I think it is a fairly rare occurance.
  7. I have 32miles - It gets REALLY cold after an hour of riding. Wish it was closer
  8. 2 miles, 20 miles, 30 miles?
  9. Hope she is doing well and merely discouraged about slow healing and not about riding. It's always hard to get back on. But it is REALLY hard to sop riding.
  10. But only for the opposite corner of the country. It just keeps raining here! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Able to move around? and - did you get the bike home yet?
  12. Mine is a TD but they seem to do the same thing with the brakes as the Ventures. My first set of rears hit the rotor - MUCH easier and cheaper to replace the pads more often. Definatly have them checked at each rear tire change and change them early. MAKE SURE to check the inside and outside - since the don't wear evenly. Swap them if they should last well beyond the next tire change. The squeal on my front brakes was vibration - I pulled them off and put some disk brake quietner on the backs of the pads. (Easy to do, takes about 30-45 minutes - just pay attention when taking them off and reverse the procedure going back on.) I went ahead and replaced the fronts the last time I did the rear but it really wasn't required - just figured it would be be better safe than sorry (rotors ain't cheap). Did the quietner on the new ones just to prevent squeals. Haven't heard a peep out of them.
  13. But glad the two of you are ok - Heal quick. I seem to recall you posting something looking for other riders in or around Phoenix - Hope you can find someone to help out if/when needed.
  14. But I think I am going to try the EIII next time
  15. It sure makes Christmas Dinner a lot easier to clean up
  16. We went out for Christmas dinner. Only ran about 60 miles but it was a beautiful day for a ride.
  17. for Rottweiler Food. Just kidding - "Rat" would be good. Oops - just kidding again - Bandit gets the vote
  18. Merry Christmas to everyone!
  19. Merry Christmas!
  20. You might need to move north, west or east. (Probably be lonlyier (lonlier?, lonlyyer? WHATEVER:confused24:) south!) but, you do have like minded friends here!
  21. Now, How do we get it to the people that DON'T understand it? I see about 1 "motorcycles are everywhere" bumper sticker a month maybe - I don't see much of anything else trying to open none-riders eyes to the fact that we are there and we are vulnerable. I will post a link to this everywhere I can at work - How about you?
  22. If it is an 04 - Is it not still in warranty? Maybe you can get the dealer to do some diagnostics (Hopefully it's not just past that 5 years)
  23. Check the lower fairings - It probably cracked where the button holds them together or popped the button out. - Mine has been that way for quite a while now and it doesn't seem to hurt anything - no noise or rattles or anything so I haven't gotten to worried about it. Beware wet gravel with mud under it while trying to make a tight turn and hitting the front brakes - Oops :sign **** happens:
  24. They get a little overbearing dont they?
  25. and talk to them if you really want to try some. They have been very helpful on the phone. Not trying to sway you away from the knee-highs.
