Hey Yammer dan, Still considering a trike?
cecdoo replied to Motorcycle Mike's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks for asking Bill, I havent really been out riding too much since I picked it up. Took Kim for a short ride and she said she liked it, thats a good thing! Had it out to get Pa inspected last week, it passed with no issues. The guys at the shop were drooling all over it, dont think they ever saw a Hannigan trike. Doubt it will get ridden much this year, but come spring, look out! Definetly be at MD. Rite now I am in the process of aquireing the mandatory safety chrome... Craig -
Contact MJ44 she would be more then happy to tell you all about her sidecar setup. She has a really neat rig and she is great fun to chat with. Tell her Craig said Hi! Craig

Great news Skid!!!! and Thanks Dan your prayers are working!!!!! Craig -
Hey Bob, why the flanders bars? Do you feel the added pull back gives you more leverage in the turns? Maybe my trike isnt set up rite, but it isnt a "dream" to handle. Thanks, Craig

At the risk of offending Carl Norg......

I always wipe off the machined surface on the engine real good, check that everything is ok with the o ring, then a thin coat of oil on the o ring. i give it about 3/4 turn past contact, its probably alittle too tight but I never had one leak or fall off. When I was 14 I worked part time at a Sunoco station and the guy I worked with was a Tool and Die maker by trade, he taught me alot! and was a stickler about keeping things clean. He was a great mentor, Thanks Bob... -
Try heating the carpet backing with heat gun or hair dryer, it will help it conform alittle better. I am sure the next trailer you do will come out better:cool10: Craig

You could try 3m 90 hi strength spray contact cement, the nozzle adjusts for size of spray pattern, you get very little overspray. Try it on a pc of plywood or fiberglass first, it should work fine. Once it hits you are not going to reposition it tho. Craig

Think you dodged a bullet on this one, most kids want start out on an old 900 Ninja, My sons first street bike was a 550 Maxim and we took a couple pretty long trips with that bike. That 550 Suzuki ought to be a good starter bike and the Safety course is a great place to start. Craig

Awesome project and a great story. Surprised to hear he only has 10k into it, I would have thought it would be alot more. Looking forward to seeing the finished bike. Craig

Old Suzukis never die, they just keep on running. Most of the guys I rode with in the early 80s had gs suzukis, and they ran great and never had any real problems, I was always partial to the Yamaha maxims, I did buy an 85 suzuki gv1200 new and still own it, awesome bike. I think the 650 would be a great starter bike for Dylan, as tall as he is he shouldnt have any problems handling it. Guess it all depends on how well it was maintained and how much they want for it. Good Luck, Craig

I generally dont even try to get a "deal" on anything because in my lifetime if it seemed to be to good to be true, it was. There was always a catch. I wasnt really sure what to expect when I found the dealer, but the place was awesome, would be a great place for a meet-n-eat. They treated me like royalty, and the bike looks very nice. I figured there would be a head shake or maybe a vibration, or else cracks or body damage. But there is no visable damage, seems to track nice and straight. Motor was nice and smooth, shifted great, new front tire, good back tires, I even found a hidden button last nite, hit it and the whole bike lit up with blue LEDs. Guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then? Thanks, Craig -
Sorry to hear that Eck, but unfortunately I have run into the same thing. Craig

Ok guys, I just got in and I am beat but hear goes my intial thoughts... After first 100miles I was still "sweating" pretty badly, color was just starting to return to my knuckles and I was slowly getting the feeling back in my shoulders and neck, wondering to myself what the hell did I get into?? After 200 miles starting to pass a few cars at 60mph starting to get the feel of the steering, feeling alittle better about "what the hell I got myself into" After 300 miles, I am passing semi's at 70mph, waving with one hand, while fueling from aux tank! Starting to really like this trike! After 400 miles I head into the sunoco station, standing on the seat, nail the front brakes hard, pull a "stoppie" with a half twist and set the back end down rite aside of the pump!!!!! Fuel up, do a couple lock to lock figure 8s while sipping on my frappachino, dont need the "ride like a pro"dvd no more! All kidding aside everything went perfect, I arrived out there at 9:30am, they opened at 10, Ashley the sales girl I was working with met me at the door, took me rite over to check out bike. It looked even better then I imagined, I was very surprised. As they were getting paperwork ready one of there guys took me to Avis to drop of the rental car, great guy, felt like I knew him forever, when we got back ashley took me rite into office, 5mins of paperwork and I was outta there. THey opened the doors, I fired her up in the showroom and rode her rite out. Now I have to figure out how to get this silly grin off my face! They bike ran perfect, rock solid at 70, no clutch slip and very smooth, it does have the chirp but so does my 06 no biggie. It was a perfect fall day to bring her home. Thanks to everyone for your help and interest. OH one last thing, I am keeping her!!!! -
Hi Don, It would be great to meet you for dinner, but unfortunately I am still in Reading, I rented a car and am leaving around 3am to arrive in Columbus at 10am tomorrow. Hoping to get everything swapped around and be out of there by noon. If all goes well should be home between 7-8pm. Sorry but I wont really have time for much of anything. The weather tomorrow is supposed to be perfect from Columbus to Reading and I plan on taking advantage of it. I have appts. on friday, a wedding on sat. and we leave for a cruise on sunday. Whew I am whopped just thinking about it!! Hope this trike turns out to be worth it. Craig
