Yep just bought an 06 private, took it to local dealer, he walked around the bike once, a little paperwork and warranty was switched. He said the look over was basically to see if the bike had been crashed? Didnt cost anything either. Craig

Cured the Chirp (sort of)
cecdoo replied to donaldj2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just picked my bike up from the dealer, I would say the "I" basket fix got rid of most of the chirp, its still there but it is totally tolerable now, cant believe the difference. If you havent had it done yet, I would highly recommend it. Even the pipes sound better now:cool10: Craig -
Hey Brian, did you ever hear of CRT lenses, my daughter wears them and they are great, its a hard contact lens you wear while you are sleeping, it molds your Cornea to the proper shape, when you take them out in the morning you have 20/20 vision all day, without any eyewear, then you put them in again at nite, your closed eyelid applies the pressure to mold the eye. They work great for my daughter, she is in all kinds of sports and doesnt need to deal with the hassels of glasses. Craig

You mite want to wait till he talks to Yamaha, I had similar problem with local dealer, When I asked him about the clutch basket chirp, he said he never heard of the problem, ran my vin # through his computer and said there were no issues with my bike? I asked him to call yamaha and told him I would like the "I" basket upgrade. Next day he called back and said basket was on order, bike is in the shop rite now for the fix. So far so good:cool10: Craig

Hi dave, whereabouts in Southern Pa are you, I am south of Reading. I just sold an 87, I think your best bet for parts is either the classifieds on this site, or Ebay, There are alot of guys with 1st gens on here, and a wealth of both knowledge and parts. Good luck with the re-build. Craig

Well I got the call from my local dealer today, my clutch basket is in, they are going to install it next week. They never heard of this problem before, but when they called Yamaha to check on my questions, Yamaha agreed there was an issue and agreed to replace with the "I" basket. So far they have been great to deal with, hopefully I will feel the same way after they worked on the bike?? Let me know how yours works out. thanks Craig
