Hi Lou, It looks like you guy's had a great time, pictures and video are very good. It's to bad that I didn't see the post on this ride sooner...I think it was the week before you left...I would have loved to have gone on that. May be next year...if you post it...I'll certainly go, I was talking to GaryN and he also said he would have gone. If hotels for next year have to be booked now please let me know. Thanks Ian

My condolances and prayers go out to the officers family. Its tragic that this is happening far to many times to motorcycle riders which causes so much suffering to their imediate families. May god bless and keep them Ian

I don't think it makes any difference if they are American or Canadian politician's, they are all liars and thieves, they promise you eveything to get elected, people fall for it, then you get the shaft. The premier of our province absolutely promised no new taxes...i believe he even put it in writing....., he gets elected, not a week goes by and he slapped us with a $900 "health levy" call it what you want if it looks like a tax and smells like a tax, it's a tax. If you can't tell this is one subject that gets my goat. Ian

Andrew, Glad you're not to seriously hurt, I think its more the pride hurt than the phsyical injuries. I know when I dropped mine up in the Vermont mountains in front of a whole load of people, I felt more , than the pain in the back of my leg from a pulled muscle and the headache from banging my head on the guard rail. I had almost the identical scratches, only on the other side and a bent clutch lever, got things fixed up when I got home, $120 to get the fairing redone which was quite reasonable. Hope you get back on the wheels soon. Ian

I couldn't have said it better myself. Around here for the most part, many riders you encounter will acknowlege you as you pass, either wave or nod, hell we even have kids on bicycles wave at you. Then there are those that don't even know you exist to them I would if I could, give them the .

Is it OK to use a synthetic grease on the drive shaft splines, I have a tube of Amsoil 2000 series racing grease which has a lithium complex, it says its good for high and low speed bearings, wheel bearings and any high performance/output equipment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm going to remove the rear wheel to replace the tire and may as well lube the the shaft at the same time. Thanks Ian

It has been a bad weekend in this area. The first accident happened at 2am Sunday morning when a 30 yr old rider drove into the back of police cruiser at a high rate of speed totally destroying the bike and also totaled the cruiser. The second was on Sunday evening when a 21 yr old girl pulled out of a driveway and onto the highway, the Harley driven by a 55 yr old man tried an evasive maneuver but hit the car in the drivers door sending him through the air, he passed away from his injuries this morning. I guess you have to be ever vigilant of your surroundings, but you can't control what other people do, I'm sure everyone becomes more cautious when something like this happens. Ride safe everyone. Condolences to their families.

Just thought I'd comment on a ride that took place yesterday (Sun) to the Vietnam Memorial on the river front here in Windsor, this wall lists the names of Canadians killed in that war fighting with the US forces. The parade of motorcycles was made up of many differerant chapters and veteran organizations from Ontario and Michigan. We left from RCL branch 594 with an estimated 150 or so bikes and rode to the river with police escort, once there a service was held and 3 more names added to the list, it was very emotional especially for some of the families of those named, wreaths were laid in tribute to the fallen along with a rifle salute and Taps. There was one USM sgt there in full dress uniform who took part in the ceremony and believe me it was a hot day he must have been cooking (he also rode a bike). After the service many went back to the legion for a BBQ and also to get a good look at the Michigan mobile wall which was set up in the hall. It was sad to see the many, many names of men just from that one state. I don't know if there were any members from this site that attended, I only found out about it on Saturday night so I didn't get chance to post it earlier, I'll certainly be going again next year and will post it sooner. God bless all our troops where ever they may be.

I found this quite moving. JUST A BIKER I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born or have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing she was safe behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. Repost this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN 'YOUR' WAY Ian

Just got back in from the R-F-D here in Windsor, we had a great turn out, 785 bikes and over a thousand people raising over $80,000. We had great weather, great ride and met great people. This is one cause of many that deserve all the support they can get. Ian

I hope to be able to make it but since my father passed away last month we are going to bring my mother over from England for a few weeks and I think my brother is booking her for the 9th of July, so I would have to drive to Hamilton to pick her up and I don't think I could get her on the back of the bike (she's 84). I could possibly go till the 8th but will have to wait until her arrival date is firmed up, which should be in the next couple of days. Ian
