1. I don't know how many rooms the Oberlin have in total but I hope they are not just letting rooms go thinking there may be cancelations, wouldn't like to see everyone turn up and then no room. Does everyone have confirmation #'s just a thought. Ian
2. I'll second that. Will look awesome. Ian
3. Never ceases to amaze does it, always some jerk not paying attention to motorcycles. Helmets, jackets and gloves can be replaced, I'm glad you're still in one piece and I hope the ankle heals quick. Ian
4. dr bar, I see how you took my comment on my original post and I re-read what I had written and it gave the wrong impression, so I edited the one sentence that you quoted, to what I meant to say. Sorry if it was misleading. Ian
5. Just booked. Frog man, If you got the honeymoon suite, I hope it doesn't get to noisey
6. dr bar, I can see what you're saying but unfortunately you have to have a peace to keep and I certainly wish that was the case. You cannot build roads, schools and basic infrastructure when you have an enemy that has no regard for human life. I'm sure all the ally's have strict rules of engagement. The Taliban have no rules whatsoever. It comes down to do we fight them over there, or on the streets of our cities. Because of our lax immigration polices, you can bet there are already some over here. Ian
7. I listened to some of the congressional or senate hearing's ...not sure which one it was....about the colapse of Morgan / Stanley which started all this mess and found it incredible that the CEO's pay including stock options and bonuses came to $489 million and he was quite nonchalont about it, saying in good times he earned it. I can't think of anyone that is worth that kind of money, its that kind of ...I would call it arrogance... that many CEO's believe that they deserve that kind of renumeration, yet they want everyone else to take pay cuts to "help them" become more competative. Just a footnote: In the news it said, If the auto industry goes down there will be an instant 2,000,000 + jobs lost. Ian
8. Good article Marcarl, I have seen that before or one like it and it never ceases to amaze me that a good portion of the world takes us for granted and sees us as a passive and a strickly peace keeping nation. What they don't realize is,... though our armed forces may not be very big,.... when the cause is just we can fight like the devil, which is being proven in Afghanistan as we speak and the big majority of Canadians are behind our troops %100, this was shown in our city when one of our soldiers was buried recently, thousands lined the funneral route to pay respect to him. As Black owl mentioned many Canadians fought in Vietnam, and I believe that Windsor is the only city in Canada that has a monument to honor the memory of those that didn't come back, it was erected by a group of Americans who wanted to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made by men who didn't have to become involved in their countries war. I believe every Canadian is proud of the past and present sacrifices that have been made for the freedoms which we take for granted and hope the younger generations carry on the memories. Ian
9. Great pics, looks like everyone a had a good time. Nice looking "Tasmainian Devil" Brad. Ouch!!!
10. Brad, Do we have to worry about you!!!!!!
11. Hey Brad, Ride safe tomorow, looking at the radar there's snow on the way for Michigan. Ian
12. My first bike was this D M W ...Dawson's Motorcycles Wolverhampton....not quite sure of the year late 50's I think, I believe it was a 125cc two stroke Villers engine....you were not allowed anything over 250cc untill you passed your test.... The picture was taken back in England in 1966 when I was 16. Once I passed my test I got a Triumph 21 which is exactly like the blue one below and it could move really well. When we came to Canada in 72, I got a Kaw 400...below..next bike was a 2000 Suzuki Marauder 800 and finally the Venture. http://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gifhttp://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gif
13. Thank you Owl for reminding everyone of the sacrifices that have been and are still being made by all service men and women. My grandfather fought at the battle of Mons in Belgium and though I never got to meet him I couldn't be more proud of the of the commitment he made for all our freedoms. I just thought I'd add this poem written in 1915, I'm sure many of know it In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
14. Thanks Pegscraper. Ian
15. I have just recieved the Dyna 3000 ign mod, kit # D3K7-3 from ATV Galaxy. My question is, has anyone else installed this module and if so are there any particular settings for the 8 pins on the back. I see the ones for the rev limiter ( it recomends 5000rpm) but do I need to touch the advance and retard pins. Any instruction/advice would be appreciated. Thanks Ian
16. You didn't marry an English woman did you? Sure sounds alot like my wife, I've had her for 36 yrs and she could talk the hind legs off a donkey, once she starts I just sit back and keep quiet...stay out of trouble that way...but she doesn't knit on the back of the bike!!!! I'll give her that much Ian
17. Gary there is nothing I can add either, I never had the pleasure of meeting Leslie but I feel that I knew her through all the comments that I have read on this site, I also get the feeling that she was loved by everyone that met her. As Squidley said anything, you may need we are here for you. God Bless Ian
18. Great pics Peggy, we were down there in the early 70's...before we had kids...it was about this time of year and the colors were gorgeous, we also took the cable car up to the top, absolutely breath taking. Will have to do the run on a bike one of these days. Ian
19. 80 degrees here today and 80 forecast for tomorrow, looks like more riding to be done. Happy thanksgiving to all the Canucks. Ian
20. The way the economy is at the moment I don't think anybody can afford to buy anything...unless you won or win the lottery... but I wouldn't bank on it...pardon the pun...
21. [ Cirque was 110% GO GO GO with something happening everywhere all the time. Never a dull moment, and heck even the family version leaves little to the imagination! Music was even better and still live. Don't think you can really lose with either one, just that Blue Man kind of doesn't stack up to the Cirque show for entertainment value. At least for us! We just got back from Vegas and had a good time, weather was brilliant and I couldn't believe the number of motorcycles riding up and down the strip, solo and in groups of 8 or more...saw 2 Ventures....mainly Harley's. We have seen "Ka" at the MGM and "O" at the Belagio both are excellent Cirque shows, this last time we went and saw Carrot Top at the Luxor, he put on a great show, some of the material was hilarious and its probably one of the less expensive shows to see...$59 to $69... Unfortunately we didn't come back millionares, had just enough to get back across the border. Ian
22. Thanks for the pictures Cindy, it looks like everyone had a great day, I'll bet the neighborhood wondered what the hell was going on but I'm sure none would complain when they know that an awesome group of bikers are doing this to protect and support their children. God bless you and them. Ian
23. Check this bike out, good for going on a spin around the town!!!!!
24. Sorry to hear about your mishap and I'm glad that you're still alive to talk about it. We really have to watch out for some of these people at lights and intersections, its been close for me a few times, thats why I always take an extra few seconds before moving out and I don't care if the guy behind gets impatient, I aint in no hurry. Its unfortunate that this incident is putting you off riding, but under all the circumstances I can understand. Hope you are feeling better soon. Ian
25. Our prices have just risen as I speak, from $1.22 to $1.40 per litre, It just takes someone to sneeze the wrong way and up it goes, it goes up if there is a threat that someone may blow up a pipe line in Nigeria. The Sept futures were at $113 a barrel, why are we not seeing the reduction now when the oil was at $147 a barrel earlier in the summer. I don't care what you call it, if it looks like gouging and smells like gouging, its gouging. I feel for the people down in Texas and pray for their well being and hope that they escape with minimal damage. Ian
