  1. Glad your OK Lewis.. Really happy for you in that nothing is broke or your back is out of wack.. When you get to cleaning up the soup, just leave your cell phone hanging from your neck in case you fall again.. I just hope you didnt do all that just to get Charlene to rub your butt..

    Crashing Sucks!

Dang, this thread took me back for a minute.. Sure am glad you are ok my friend. Had me worried there for a second. Here is an idea to ponder... If you feel the insurance co. doesnt make you a fair offer for you RSV, tell them you will ONLY accept that offer if they let you buy it back from them for $500.00 (or whatever price you feel is fair). Dont forget, tell them that if they sold it back to you, they WONT have to pay somone (a towing company) to come and get it to take it to the auction in HOPES someone buys it for scrap. Then you can strip it and sell the parts off it. The wheels and tires alone are worth $500. Another learning lesson that I had when I wrecked mine.. Not sure how much money you have in accessories or if you had extra coverage for them. I had $500.00 extra coverage for accessories....even though I had a ton of accessories on it..Keep in mind the offer they give you is for a stock bike,.no accesssories included. I told them I wanted all the salvageable accessories off my bike before they take it. At first the adjuster said no and that I only had $500.00 of coverage for accessories. I said you are correct. I picked up my smashed Garmin 550 GPS and handed it to him and said there, that cost me almost $600.. that means EVERY OTHER ACCESSORY on the bike is MINE..and I am taking them off...He paused, and said you are right, but you can not take any stock parts off. I told him I understand and we shook on the settlement. I was able to keep my bike for 3 days to strip the accessories off of it. I had someone send me a bad rear shock and I swapped it out keeping my good rear shock and sold it later..I had a new battery in the bike and I swapped it out for an old battery I had sitting in the shed. They still got a stock bike when I was done..
  3. Thanks Lewis for the reminder.... Our thoughts and prayers are with them in hopes both are OK, and able to bounce back.
  4. Wish we could have made it but just couldnt.. Happy B-Day Bobbie..
  5. Welcome Aboard Scott. Go grab a cold drink and jump right in anytime here. If you have any questions, feel free to post a thread and ask the question. You can bet someone will chime in..but be careful for there are a few here that like to pull your chain when you least expect it. In the next few months, check in on the VR rally section for upcoming events and keep your eye ont he M&E (meet & eat) section in case there is one going on in your neck of the woods. With winter soon to be on the door step, the M&E's may be fewer and father apart until next spring.. Enjoy!, and again.. welcome aboard...!

  15. Joe, Food for thought.. If you could, maybe post a picture of the broken bolt and cover to show those who are not sure what you are speaking of...what NOT to do. Im thinking of a photo (or two) that would be something we could use in the tech section for further awareness for everyone.

    Engineers

Guess that definition sums it up fairly easily..I cant think of adding anything to it. From Wikipedia: Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for th e design, production, and operation of machines and tools.[1] It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings.[1][2][3] Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering,[4] and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering.[5] It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, Geophysics, Geodesy, Control engineering, structural engineering, biomechanics, nanotechnology, transportation engineering, earth science, atmospheric sciences, forensic engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, Control Engineering, coastal engineering,[4] surveying, and construction engineering.[6] Civil engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.
  18. If you cant find another replacement knob, here is an idea or two.. You could use the tip of a hot soldering iron and carefully "melt" the plastic making a new tab on the old knob? Or... Im sure you can find an old piece of plastic laying on the side of the highway from a car accident, which they are most always ABS plastic... and then use the heated soldering iron tip to melt a little tab onto the old knob?
  19. This place is addicting.. been here since 05....and love it as much today as I did back then.
  20. Nemo, There is no such thing as a dumb question ....unless I ask it... You have a valid question. To remove the chrome ring you must split the fairing. Click here to see how to do this: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494 Once you get the forward (Front) fairing off, you can set it on a table, as in below photo, and then be able to see the tabs that hold it on from the inside.. Note: Below picture may show other parts on the table that are not applicable in your case..
  21. I was out riding the other day and as I was going down this country road I went under the branches of a tree that had a few branches came out over the highway. A nut fell off a branch as I was under it and it came down and hit me in the left cheek.. Man I thought I got shot at first it stung so bad.. Im glad it didnt hit my sunglasses on my left eye, but it was just underneath the glasses when it hit me.. man that stung..I had to pull over and make sure my cheek wasnt cut. The left sife of my face turned all red and began swelling up, and my eye started wattering so much I couldnt see. Be carefull going under tree limbs that hang over the highway....Ya never know..
