  1. I have never heard of it before today, but as soon as I loaded it to my wife's laptop, I realized it is so easy to use.. It works almost exactly like Excel.. in fact, I have already created a couple files for tax purposes..
  2. Hey Lewis, I have a brand new 12 volt chrome horn that I would like to donate to you so that you can auction it off and apply the funds towards St. Jude's. (See pic below) This horn is CHROME, and still in it's original box and has never been used. Brand new!!!! I also have a set of slightly used, but good drivers foot pegs for a GW 1800 (they are used, but both are in good shape...see pic below) I am not sure how / where you auction stuff off for St. Jude's, but maybe there are others here on the site that have some extra parts laying around that they will never use and would be willing to donate to you also towards raising some $$$ for St. Judes. SOOOooo this is my offer on what I will do with my horn Lewis. You auction it off as you normally auction off stuff for St. Jude's here on the site. Once you get the highest bidder and their contact info/ address, you just tell me where to send it and I will even pay the shipping to get it to the winner as long as it is in the lower 48. If someone wins the bid out of the country they will have to pay the shipping, but I will GIVE the horn to you for whatever you can get for it. Ok who else want's to join in and donate an extra part to Dragonrider that you have sitting out in the garage or the shed? Eck @Dragonrider, here is the running list of things that people would like to donate: Folks, hold on to your items and once we have a highest bidding winner identified, you and the highest bidding winner can determine shipping arrangements. Dontated by: Item: Eck - 12 volt Chrome Horn - See attached pic) and one pair of slightly used, but good stock drivers foot pegs (See attached pic) MIDRSV - pillow top rider's seat with the Butler mod ( One heck of a very nice offer by Dennis I must add!) COWPUC - Used Gauze and tape-just kidding - item pending Hummingbird - (3) hand made cutting boards Slowroll - driving light brackets and a set of passenger floorboard backing plates

  7. Sure am glad it wasn't a loved on / child or animal. Hate to see things like this happen and I am very good at doing such things myself.! Hey, look at the bright side... at least you have lots of water to wash all those the tears away. ..
  8. Used some SKIPPY creamy peanut butter on the rear BLACK plastic on my Avalanche as it was "strongly suggested" here on the site by someone to use peanut butter. I forgot who suggested it at the moment but I must say (and agree with him) that is definitely does work. Here are a few pics of during the application and after.. Now I will see how many bears try to come through my garage door after smelling the peanut butter....
  9. Anyone know if there is a safe / free way to download excel to a computer that does not have it? I have excel on my lap top but my wife does not. She is running window's 10 on one lap top and windows 7 on another lap top. Been looking for a link to download free but there are way to many options and slick attachments that I am not aware of. I don't want to download spam.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks Eck
  10. Hey @Freebird, I just found out that my great granddaughter gave up competing against the Kardashian's, she's now moved up and is competing for Playboy bunny of the month.. Look out Hugh Heffner here comes another girlfriend..
  11. Not bike carb related but service labor related: This past week, I stopped at a NTB to have my front rotors turned and they had it posted in the lobby that their labor rate was $109.00 an hour.... I remember when I had my service station in Greenville, PA, I charged $20 bucks for the front and $20 bucks for the rear to install new brakes ...shoes or pads...$40 bucks for the whole job. We had to break and remove the lug nuts using 4 way lug wrench's to remove the wheels and then hand ratchets/sockets to remove bolts. Nowadays, they use air tools to remove the lug nuts / wheels, they use air ratchets to remove the bolts thus cutting the labor time down to minutes, and yet they charge 5 to 6 times as much to do the same job.
  12. Ha... yea bud, I had to streak through to empty the place just so we could get a table....... (spelling correction has been made...thanks...ha)..
  13. My wife and I got up and took off for Red Bay, Al., this morning to have lunch with Gary N and his lovely wife Mary. We met them at a steak house and enjoyed lots of conversations and food. We them left and followed them to the RV service plant where they were having some warranty work done on their RV. They took my wife and I for a tour through their new RV and then a quick tour through the service plant. We ended up in the customer lounge area and sat again exchanging stories and laughs. Hope to see you both again this year down the road Gary and Mary.. We sure did enjoy seeing you both today. Until next time, please ride safe. Eck and Konnie

  18. I see you just joined the site this morning and that this is your first post. Several good looking bikes listed here that are for sale by their owner. https://sd.craigslist.org/search/mcy Here are some more thru cycle trader that are for sale by owner: http://www.cycletrader.com/South-Dakota-Motorcycles-For-Sale----CycleTrader.com/search-results?state=South%20Dakota%7CSD&sort=geo_distance%3Aasc&layoutView=listView& Here are two Yamaha Ventures for sale: http://www.cycletrader.com/South-Dakota-Yamaha-Midnight-Venture-Motorcycles-For-Sale/search-results?make=Yamaha%7C2321194&model=Midnight%20Venture&state=South%20Dakota%7CSD&sort=geo_distance%3Aasc& Most any Yamaha Venture will cost you around $4k to $14k depending on what year model you are looking for. 19. Just a suggestion here in hopes it may help you. Take the battery out of the unit and let it set for 5 minutes without the battery in it. Then reinstall the battery and see if the screen becomes brighter. It may reset the unit back to it's original settings by removing the battery. FYI: The screen brightness affects battery life. Here is a cheap fix that may also help from sunlight:
  20. I surely would not ride it with out the rear shock, but hey, that is me. It will not be a smoothe ride to go all that way on.a My 2 cents/ opinion: I would have to say I think you would be challenging the "safety aspect" of the bike and possibly others in your group, if / when you ride a bike in a way it was not designed to be rode in. Just a thought here: Maybe someone here may have a good used one they can LOAN you, or they may even sell it to you. It is not hard to change it.
  21. Ok, getting back to synthetic oil and keeping this thread on track. I have used synthetic oil and synthetic gear lube in both my Venture and in my GW. Both bike always ran well and I changed the oil at every 3k miles even though I didn't have to.. I am old school and will be that way until I die, so don't even try to change me now. About 5 moths ago, I went back to conventional oil in my wing. Using the synthetic oil, I noticed my engine sounded really loud. As soon as I went back to the conventional oil I noticed a much quieter engine as soon as I started it up. I am staying with conventional oil for now..
  22. Dang, by the looks of those pictures, I think I will just leave mine do what it wants............. Mine is not near as bad as your was I guess. The base of mine is located at the 2nd joint of my little finger and the root from it runs all the way down to almost my wrist. I stretch my little finger almost every night and wear a split while watching TV in the evenings. During the night it becomes painful at time from stretching it and bending it backwards, but I can live with it so far. I am so glad your finger and hand is healing so well. I sure hope if I ever have mine done it heals as well as yours is. Best of luck to you bud. Eck
  23. It is on it's way back up and I am like you... I don't think I will ever see it this low again ever...
  24. If the fuel pressure is already built up you will not hear the fuel pump. If you let the bike sit for (say) overnight and then turn the ignition switch to on, you should hear the fuel pump. These bikes are not gravity fed, and can not run with out a fuel pump. You may have a stuck float.... Hold a screwdriver by the shank, and tap the carb bowls ( as it is running) with the handle of the screwdriver, to see if it smoothes out any. If it does, put a full can of seafoam fuel system cleaner in the gas tank and then fill it up.. Go for a good 150 to 200 mile ride and then fill it up again with more fresh gas. Heck, put a can in anyway. It wont hurt a thing and it will clean up the carbs for you. You didn't mention how many miles you have on it but have you (or previous owner) ever changed the fuel filter? Being you live in IL, the bike probably sat for the winter and the carbs are gummed up a little.. Seafoam should do the trick...
