Glad you made it to Tupelo safely Paul. It was a pleasure meeting you too. I hope your testing goes great today and that you have a very safe (uneventful mechanics wise) trip back home.. Look forward to a day when we can have a MS Meet & Eat and be able to get all the MS members we can to show up. And a little note to Walter here: I've straightened up..........

We are at Hucks Hope you make it You didn't beat your gps time. Ha

Hey Paul, I just looked (12:36pm) and if you can time it to where you will be at the intersection of HWY 45 and Hwy82 around 3:30/3:45pm, I will meet you at that intersection and you can follow me to Huck's Place in Columbus. I will be riding my wing. If you don't get this message or if you are not at that intersection by 3:45 latest, I will just ride on to Huck's place and meet you there as we already discussed. Eck

Looks like we just might need a Victory tech side now... Keep me posted on how it handles and rides...good and bad.. wishes you feel you should have thought of and things you didn't expect. I too have been looking at the victory-wings, mostly because I want my feet more securely on the ground when I stop at a red light or stop sign. I love my wing and it would take a lot for me to give her up...

Nice choice...and nice color. It matches my bushtec.. Between Muffinman and I, together we should be able to help you with most any questions on how to... feel free to ask anytime. I have several tech articles, a shop manual and a bunch of CD's full of information. Eck

Let's play "Pay it forward". Free windshield to start
Eck replied to deepforkriver's topic in Paying it Forward
James, Your post is an invite to all. Many thanks from this end. What your efforts are doing (except for end result) was very similar to the FREE APRTS section we had a few years back. I posted not long ago about the same thing. If you have a part sitting in the garage or barn on a shelf and not being used, how about donating it to the free parts list. Anyone wanting it would contact the owner and the owner would ship it to the needing person. Sometimes the owner would pay the shipping and other times not. It went very well for about three years. Many received and exchanged free parts and brought total strangers together. At different meet & eats those people would be able to put a face with a name and also be able to see the part they gave to that person on their bike. The slight difference is your sought after end result of which I think is great. Freebird would love to have his house cleaned after MD...but if I were he, I would rather have my bike cleaned up and waxed so it is ready to go ...ha Good on you, for your efforts in bringing strangers who have the same interest together. -
Put a piece of that fiber tape on it and you will be fine... I would at minimum dab some antibiotic cream on it though... Super glue works well too..

Idle is hi when warm
Eck replied to Billkroeger's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
(qoute - Condor) Eck's suggestion will work on a 2ndGen, but it's an '85. The idle adjustment knob is on the left side behind the carb brace. DUH... I didnt even look to see what bike he had. I automatically thought if you own a Yamaha, it is a 2nd gen.. Thanks to Squidley too.... You are correct again sir. I just assumed he already had sync'd them. Whoda thought.......... -
Still needs some more work Eck. Im trying to decide whether to just put the fins back on or polish them first. Food for thought here my friend.. Anything you polish will require same effort every year...........

Prayers Needed
Eck replied to Double D's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
DoubleD Dont worry on both accounts. (1) Your anual fee is covered. Freebird, I will pay this for him from now on until further notice. Please notify me when they are due. (2) Prayers and more prayers are sent your way my friend. (I moved this thread to the prayer request section) -

You can easily adjust idle rpm with your fingers. On right side of gas tank, near aft end , on the underneath side of the gas tank, there is a black plastic round knob...when bike is warmed up, slowly turn this knob to the right or left to adjust the idle RPM to where you want it. I have done this at a red light. Very simple and easy to do. Make sure your choke is pushed in all the way first... -
(quote): Mike, you da man.....I had a bunch of torx sockets. I found a larger one, hammered it into the allen hole and with a gentle twist with a 1/4" ratchet it broke loose!! WOW, I was getting prepared to say bye to my dream bike .... Sure am glad it came out Ruffy. Would have hated to see pieces of Yamaha and HD bike parts landing here in Ms...

Hey Paul, I heard this past weekend that Toyota is possibly opening a Plant in West Point, Ms... West Point is about 25 miles from where I live, and I work about 16 miles from West Point at Aurora Flight Sciences, located at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, Columbus, MS As for us meeting up: Not sure who will be going yet (me or another guy from work), but one of us has to make a trip down to Gulfport in the near future. If I am the lucky one (as they say) I will let you know before I leave here so that we can meet up for a bite to eat and that favorite drink while I am down there.

Please help us pray....
Eck replied to mechanic1's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Roy, I'm not all that religious, however I used to be and know the way. I also know when a man cries for the help of GOD for I too have cried for him to touch my son when he was on his death bed. I believe in Gods power and you and your family must do the same. I personally have seen with my own eyes, and know miracles have been performed by prayer. I pray now for his life, his strength and the comfort he and your family needs. I pray for calmness to overcome your family with a sound understanding GOD's hand will touch him. You must believe. You must trust in that belief, and he will over come this. Eck -
When bikers act like this I too would not want them in my town. It gives all bikers a bad rap.. “This is supposed to be a tourist community,” Read more here: http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2013/02/11/3322875/horry-county-to-go-over-bike-week.html#storylink=cpy http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2013/02/11/3322875/horry-county-to-go-over-bike-week.html

You are not alone SilvrT... I, like many others here ride a GW and Im still here. Im still here for the same reasons you have but I also personally like staying here because I enjoy helping others when I can and with the knowledge I have been blessed with. Now I dont have all the answers as I can prove myself, but what I do have, I offer anytime and offer it free to anyone in need. I have come across so many here who give of themselves and give from thier heart, knowing they too enjoy that feeling of being blessed in one way or another to be able to help someone. Always wanting to "pass it on". That feeling bleeds on this site and I see it and feel it from many. It doesnt take long for a newbie to see it and feel it either thus making a stronger force and family. Many join here not knowing what kind of world they are about to enter..but soon realize this is the most to giving family they know of.. That in itself makes me want to stay. I dont have that with my real family members...........bet many of you dont either.. I have been here before the site crash likemany here and we have seen many come and go. Many a Good folk too and a few not so good. You never hear of anyone talking bad about anyone here (posted live anyway).. In all my years here I met two folks I didnt rub elbows with real well, but I still speak to them in respect when I see them and they do the same in return. That respect was built here also. I could say I enjoy the HD bashing, but that wouldnt get me far.. I get GW bashed every now and then so it doesnt matter what one rides. We all have a common bond here. We love to ride and we love Dairy Queen...

Folks, All I can say is Lewis goes all out on the effort side of pulling off a great rally here. I would like to ask if you would all look around your garage on the shelves and in those drawers if you have any 1st or 2nd gen parts or even GW or an old harley part, sitting around collecting dust because you took it off to add a after market or custom part. If you have no use for that part, how about considering on just sending it to Lewis for him to either auction off or have as a door prize for someone who can use it. Ive already cleaned out all my stuff and gave it to him two years ago. Another option is, when your in Wally world or any store for that matter, and you seee something you could easily purchase and dontate to Lewis for a door prize please do so. Ideas: Wax, cleaning rags, an air gage, can of fix a flat, something, anything.. All your help is appreciated and goes to a wonderful cause:thumbsup2: Lewis, I sure wish you could use old helmets...........all of us have a few of those sitting around..

That really looks nice. Very nice!! I have the 3m on the hood of one of my Avalanche's. It has protected the hood since 2005, and the clear is chipped/nicked, cut and torn in places. I'm getting ready to take a heat gun to it and remove it. I will recover it again with new once I get this old coat off..
