may be something .. may not
Eck replied to Big Lou's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I always placed a 6 inch long 2x4 block of wood under the side stand to get the bike to "as near as" it would be if going down the road (minus my fat butt on the seat) The I would check the oil level Never ever had an issue doing it this way. As you said, some say it's OK to check it on center stand.. some say do this and do that.. I just try to resemble what the level of the bike would be as if it was "moving down the road" when checking the oil. cant go wrong that way. -

Love seeing the possibility of having new family members. About a week ago in Columbus, Ms., I saw a black Venture in a church parking lot and they were in the process of setting up for a yard sale. I stopped in and began asking who owned the Venture. I met the man and after speaking with him a little while I mentioned this site and asked him to give us a visit. I wrote the web site down and my name, shook his hand and drove off. Hope to see him here also

95% of all Harleys ever built are still on the road today...
Eck replied to WCody's topic in Jokes and Humor
Knowing this thread was posted only as a joke, (one I do find funny myself) I have to say this in all fairness. I have seen every type of bike loose a part here and there. We all have seen it, heard it and most of us lived it.. My venture (and most all ventures) are known to loose bolts from the rear fender and the shifter screw falls out. Chrome piece on rear of front fender screws also came out and lost them ont he road.. All this has happened on my Venture. However, Yamaha makes a great Venture and if they change their ways I might even go back to one. I have had parts fall off all my bikes. My Honda 350, 450 750 and Kaw 900z1.. but not YET has anything fallen off my GW. Not saying it wont. I think the joke is still funny....it made me grin again...in fact, I have said those same words myself. I do feel Harley builds a great bike and they are much better now than what they were back in the 50s. I've even been pondering with the idea if I want one.. -

What kind of performance to expect when pulling a trailer?
Eck replied to etcswjoe's topic in Trailer Talk
I found with 1800cc's, I eliminated the problem of having to twist the throttle. Fuel mileage is a little different (average about 39 mpg without trailer to around 30 with depending on how much junk I place in the trailer. -
It's probably a shower cap to prepare him for his next cooler shower at MD..........

Looking for an old thread
Eck replied to Richie R's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I searched and can not find it either. Older threads can become deleted over time, to free up space. I did a Google search (using images) for 4" round chrome air filters and many come up. Not sure if one of those would be of interest to you. -
This link below may be of help to you which is a thread that is running on same subject you ask about. Many commented here about teeth / dentures. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78817

Ruffy, I, (like you), wish I could make it again this year too, but it just isn't in the cards for me this year. I do wish everyone a safe journey there and back to their homes and here is another wish for great weather.. Have fun everyone.

Is this it? If so, it has not been deleted. If this is not the one you question, let me know. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78987

It is normal on these trucks. I had a 2000 Silverado and it did same thing. I now own TWO Avalanches (2005 & 2011) and both do same thing. I just drive them..

Dang Bill, I am so glad you and Linda are ok. I sure hope you didn't loose your home and all your belongings. If you need a place to stay you are more than welcome to use our house in Huntsville, Al. We are not living there in Huntsville right now, but we visit the house now and then on some weekends. We may be moving back soon, but not sure, but that does not matter if we are living there or not............ you have a place to live in Huntsville if you need it.

(Quote) Now, we all know that Eck will be the next guy in line on this forum to want a set of these Muth Heated Mirrors. Sorry, Eck, but there are already others ahead of you in line, but they are on other forums, so you can be # 2 on this forum Sorry Miles, but I already have a set of Muth mirrors on my wing. And, no, they are NOT heated but I have no need for heated mirrors..

Not me.............Falsies........Yep, laugh all you want.. I don't care about caps, implants or ever going back to see a dentist ever again. no need to if done right. Had mine removed back in 1981 and I have never ever regretted it. I can eat anything too, apples, corn on the cob and I chew ice regularly...

Solo camping trip
Eck replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I know one time a bear grabbed a glove off a bike at Vogel because the owner (Dan) ate something earlier wearing his gloves. His glove was on the seat when the bear took it. Can you imagine what the bear would have / could have done if that glove was in a cooler tied to the bike...$15k worth of damage just get at a package of crackers or a sandwich.... no way.. I will never store any type of food on my bike and walk away from it.. I would recommend dropping the cooler off at the main office at the entrance of the park and ask if they could hold on to it until you get back from your hike... -
