  6. Well Dan, something tells me that I wont be seeing you on a wing any time soon either.. Jeff, All I am doing is posting some helpful information in the Goldwing Tech section for those who own wings. Appreciate your offer, but I am not having any problems with my remanufactured alternator (thanks GOD).. However, I am getting ready to tackle rebuilding the front forks with new sliders/ bushings and seals with fresh oil, and then going after the brake system cleaning / rebuilding calipers and installing new pads.
  7. Lewis, So sorry my friend, but I just now found out that we are having company this weekend from out of state. They will be here Friday and leaving Sunday afternoon. I mentioned to Konnie that I was going to surprise you and just show up, and then she said, well, remember I told you last month that we are having company this coming weekend? And that was the end of that discussion... I truly was going to surprise you and just show up........
  8. Your on the road and notice your GW is not charging. · With key on, check to see if orange light for cruise is on. If not it IS the alternator · Cruise control fuse is part of the charging circuit! Check fuse #19 on the 01-05 bikes and fuse #16 on the 06 and later bikes. If this fuse is blown, it will appear the alternator is bad. This fuse usually blows from a wire being pinched in the handlebar covers Below pics show the fuse number for the headlight by year so you know which one to pull to get maximum distance on remaining battery life if you notice your alternator went, and you want to save life in your battery. Pull this fuse# and it will kill the headlights to help you get a little farther with a dead alternator. On the 01-05 models: "Head Rly Fuse," #9 On the 06-10 models: "Head Main Fuse," #14 On the 12 & 13 models: "Head Main Fuse," #12 On the 2013 F6B: "Head HI L Fuse," #12
  9. Reverse Light Blinks Sitting still at an idle in neutral, the reverse light blinks. If you press the reverse button to engage reverse the neutral light goes out and it will not go into reverse. It will run fine all day with the reverse light blinking all the time. FIX: Remove the right hand side lower chrome engine cover. Look just above the oil filler cap for a rubber boot. Pull the rubber boot back and make sure the nut is tight on the stud that holds the wire on. But DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN IT, the stud is brass and will break off easily. It just needs to be snug enough to provide good electrical contact. A bit beyond finger tight is good enough. If you got pocket knife clean off the connector and then re-tighten. The rubber boot covers the reverse position sensor in the transmission. It provides a ground for the reverse system when the bike is not in reverse. If it is loose it will cause the reverse light to blink and it can also prevent your starter from working. See below pic. If the nut is tight on the reverse switch, you could pull the seat and pull and reseat the 3 reverse relays in the bank. There are only 2 types of relays, 4 leg and 5 leg, and the 4 legs are interchangeable with other 4 legs, same with the 5 legs. Just pay attention to where the suspected bad relay goes, so you can identify it later. This kind of becomes like the shell game where you try to find the pea. So mark the original relays before you start moving them around. I'm sure you know, but the relay box is under the seat.
  10. I agree that Sevierville and Gatlinburg are both so commercialized now that I am not interested in ever going back. The back roads around that area are nice, but I will not go back to either place. There is a HD dealer in Gatlinburg, and they expected us to pay to park our bikes while we visited their establishment.... We both just looked at each other and made a U turn and left.
  11. Sorry, I wanted to take a photo of what I had for your review. The amber ones I have are 3.25 in length. (Not the 4 inches you need)
  12. Boat Name? Heck, just pick one........... http://www2.10000boatnames.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
  13. I happen to have (2) reflectors. Amber in color. Part number on the ones I have are 070-0502 made by Stanley. Both are Amber in a black housing which has one small bolt/ nut on back side for mounting. You can have them both for $20.00 plush shipping. Shipping from 35824 zip code. Shipping should not be but $1.50 (guessing).
  14. You are asking for a death wish! No way would I ride it at night....................

    Good bye to.....

Swifty, I think I caught you a couple times and you didn't let off the throttle... Enjoyed the miles (and conversations), we shared every time our roads crossed.
  17. cut a piece of gas line hose about 2 inches long and slide it on over the threads.. it holds the seat on. You can easily pull down on the hose to remove it from the seat bolt when you want to remove the seat...
  18. Sorry Lewis, but at that time, I will be riding with my best friend somewhere up in WV, VA, NC, TN, KY. and maybe northern GA. I would love to attend and support you once again in this but I just can not this year.

    My new shop...

Like Squidley mentioned, plan ahead.. Here is an idea that you can do now before you pour concrete..
  20. This is in reference to the two small screws that hold your gas cap together. Check this thread out for screws coming loose and falling out on the gas cap. I suggest you go out and remove your gas cap and check the two small screws in yours before the screws fall off inside the gas tank.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=81617
  21. I sure wish Hwy 622 (Nebo Mountain Road) was smoothe pavement. It is paved, but it is full of filled potholes and repair runs which make it a very bouncy rough ride. This road is just east of Hwy 16 (back of the dragon) and is a mountain back road that is just as curvy as the back of the dragon. If they ever paved this road to where it was smoothe, this would be a very challenging motorcycle road in Virginia. No guardrails either..
  22. I bought an 05 Road Star Silverado for step son back in 05. It ran like a dream, and had lots of torque. Very dependable as all the Yamahas are. Easy to work on too.. Step son changed out stock pipes on it and I couldn't stand hearing it.... Always made him ride behind me...
  23. Tell Don to put some chrome on that thing and it just might sell faster..............
  24. When I got done with my RSV, it was about 8 inches from the head light, then zero inches from the dash board, then 5 inches (maybe) from the TOP of the seat, then zero inches from its tail light and maybe one inch from its side as it sat on its saddle bag and side edges of its tires.. I do not recommend you lower yours in this manor...ever...
