  3. In my Bushtec, I carry a small rubber mat ...like one used for yoga, not that I do that... weight of mat is about 1Lb, if that. If for any reason I need to fix a wheel bearing or flat tire, I can lay the rubber mat on the ground and roll my trailer over on it side onto the rubber mat. Yes, I would have to unload the trailer, but I don't have a problem with doing that if need be. I also carry (several) tools necessary to change out the bearings including a mini air pump and the tools and tire repair strings to fix most common holes in a tire. I also carry a can of fix a flat in case it is raining and I want to just get to a place of safety.
  4. No offense here, but in my honest opinion only you as the owner really knows what you truly want your bike to look like. Every bike one sees is either "bare bones/ as was when purchased new", or it has the added accessories that the present owner wants on it. As for myself, I have my bike set up for ME...no one else.. as does everyone else. The only honest advice I can give you is to buy or add the accessory that your heart leads you to and I strongly suggest you stay within reason to your wallet.. The only other thought I have is...OME accessories you know will fit and come with all the correct attach hardware... aftermarket stuff may or may not fit and may or may not come with the attach hardware.
  5. I agree...........100%...
  6. Hope not..........but if so at least they have a fix for it. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/harley-davidson-recalls-14-motorcycles-20592815 I remember when I had my 00 Silverado. GM came out with a recall on them for the emergency brakes would lock up on them. I took mine in to have it fixed. The GM service jerk tells me the recall is only for STICK SHIFT vehicles... I asked him to pull the parts list for my automatic and tell me "ANY" difference in part numbers between my automatic vehicle and a stick shift vehicle for ANY part number related to the braking system. He said there isn't a difference..... I said then WHY are you telling me the recall is only for stick shift vehicles.. He said because the GM recall only mentions stick shift vehicles..........DUH.... (and they wonder why we had to bail them out..) I left and went home, and disconnected the emergency parking brake system on the vehicle and it was that way for years.. and still is for all I know..
  7. Nice ride!!! I think blue hair would go well with it.. I don't think you have it in ya though................................
  8. Don't hold your breath on ol-Yamy..... They wont come out with another one until the use up 95% of the cassette players they paid some other company to make for them by the thousands..so they could get a good price on them, including all those "dependable" fuel pumps they had made. You don't think THEY are going to be stuck with them all now do you...? I don't ever expect Yamy to ever come out with another touring bike such as the venture. They really missed the mark to keep up with the leading edge on large touring bikes. They had a chance though at one time. Eck

  12. Any way you could use a piece of PVC pipe that slides over the fork tube where the PVC pipe is a little longer than the tube so that you can tap it with a hammer on the top and not damage the tube? The PVC pipe diameter should be very close to same diameter of the seal. I'm thinking somewhere around a 1 & 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe..
  13. Randy, I didn't know you had a fall with Linda. I hope you two are OK. I too am thinking of going to a trike because the 1800 is getting kind of heavy, but I really like it on the curves.. Tank Adhesive

Pick, Any auto store sells trim auto trim glue. It will hold those rubber strips on the tank. If you choose this method, I would place a dab of glue about every 1 1/2 to 2 inches "max" distance from each other the length of the rubber strip. You do not need a bead of adhesive the entire length of the strip. Also, if you want a chrome edge on the tank, as mentioned above, any auto stores sells the chrome door edging. This is what I used on my 05. You cut it to length and press it on for it has its own adhesive. You can heat the plastic chrome strip just a smidgen on the "adhesive side" with a hair dryer to activate the adhesive, but do not heat it to much or you will melt the chrome plastic. Good luck my friend! Eck

  17. ............. I (like many here) don't need a trailer or some accessory that I can not use. The weekend getaway sounds great, but even at that expense I would rather see the money go back into the forum to help those family members in need when ever that unexpected sickness or death comes to their door. I as well as Marcarl and many others here, like to meet those whom I have met in the past and know as friends, but I also to like to meet all the new members that I don't know I like to ride and see bits of the country that I have not seen in a while, but I always hope the ride contains "virgin territory" for it brings a different level of excitement. If you want stories, grab a cold one and a chair, for we all have a few.

  22. Pick, If you can not get your bike going in time, for your departure date/time, let me know and I will ride my GW to your place and you can use it to do your ride if you want. I will need to borrow a vehicle to get back to Huntsville in. You can stop in Huntsville on your return trip home and drop the bike off and pick up your vehicle.. Hey bud, its all I can think of at this time.. OR.. You can drive your cage to my place and pick up my GW for your trip and leave your cage here and take your keys with you for I don't need your cage. When your done with your trip, just come back to my place and drop off my GW and pick up your cage to go back home in. Either way you have an offer to use my Goldwing so you do not miss your trip.. If you need help soldering... give me a ring.. I can take a ride over to help you. I have three soldering irons and lots of flux and solder.. Eck
