Well Jeff, I must say if I was ever going to go back to a Yamaha Venture I would jump on your bike in a heartbeat. You and I have joked for years of me being that so called beneficiary, but we both know it was all in pure fun. I know the things you have done to your bike and you always did an outstanding job. You never mickey mouse'd anything on it. Always top notch!! I also know that the one I had I loved and it too had many accessories and special things I did to it. There has never been another bike that I have looked at or rode that I liked more than my 05 RSV. With that being said, I can only recommend that you dig deep into your heart and thoughts before you do get rid of it. I had no choice since mine was totaled. You have a choice and it is one that only you my friend can make. Oh believe me, I do love my Goldwing. But we all know a Goldwing just doesn't LOOK like a motorcycle...They are great for long distance and other things but not something one would want to stare at for long..... I wish you the best in your decision. You have one beautiful bike there guy.. Absolutely beautiful.

Randy, When I had my 2nd Gen RSV, I pulled a trailer.. However I kept the rear frame (brace) bar that is removed when installing the trailer hitch. I figured, if I ever had to take my 2nd Gen to the Dealer, I would just remove the trailer hitch and install that rear frame (brace) bar back in its place and then take it to the dealer.

Many thanks Steve for the tip of the hat and all but I am only one person on this site and I'm certain no matter who you would have asked they would have jumped at the opportunity to help out, or lead you to someone who could help you out. Over the past 8 years I have met so many kind hearted down to earth people because of this site, and I tip my hat to all of them.!!!!! Now as for that 60 mpg, and not have to shift to 3rd gear until about 82.576 mph (no wind)....ah...yea......maybe........

GREAT NEWS that both of you are now back at home. So glad everything went well. Oh, and Linda... when you are able to get up, give ol-Randy a poke in the side for me, and a big bear hug!!!!!! Then fix him up a good meal of baked beans...........I hear this is good advise to help massage those bruised & broken ribs.

In my Bushtec, I carry a small rubber mat ...like one used for yoga, not that I do that... weight of mat is about 1Lb, if that. If for any reason I need to fix a wheel bearing or flat tire, I can lay the rubber mat on the ground and roll my trailer over on it side onto the rubber mat. Yes, I would have to unload the trailer, but I don't have a problem with doing that if need be. I also carry (several) tools necessary to change out the bearings including a mini air pump and the tools and tire repair strings to fix most common holes in a tire. I also carry a can of fix a flat in case it is raining and I want to just get to a place of safety.

opinions on adding chrome goodies?
Eck replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No offense here, but in my honest opinion only you as the owner really knows what you truly want your bike to look like. Every bike one sees is either "bare bones/ as was when purchased new", or it has the added accessories that the present owner wants on it. As for myself, I have my bike set up for ME...no one else.. as does everyone else. The only honest advice I can give you is to buy or add the accessory that your heart leads you to and I strongly suggest you stay within reason to your wallet.. The only other thought I have is...OME accessories you know will fit and come with all the correct attach hardware... aftermarket stuff may or may not fit and may or may not come with the attach hardware. -
Hope not..........but if so at least they have a fix for it. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/harley-davidson-recalls-14-motorcycles-20592815 I remember when I had my 00 Silverado. GM came out with a recall on them for the emergency brakes would lock up on them. I took mine in to have it fixed. The GM service jerk tells me the recall is only for STICK SHIFT vehicles... I asked him to pull the parts list for my automatic and tell me "ANY" difference in part numbers between my automatic vehicle and a stick shift vehicle for ANY part number related to the braking system. He said there isn't a difference..... I said then WHY are you telling me the recall is only for stick shift vehicles.. He said because the GM recall only mentions stick shift vehicles..........DUH.... (and they wonder why we had to bail them out..) I left and went home, and disconnected the emergency parking brake system on the vehicle and it was that way for years.. and still is for all I know..

Nice ride!!! I think blue hair would go well with it.. I don't think you have it in ya though................................

Don't hold your breath on ol-Yamy..... They wont come out with another one until the use up 95% of the cassette players they paid some other company to make for them by the thousands..so they could get a good price on them, including all those "dependable" fuel pumps they had made. You don't think THEY are going to be stuck with them all now do you...? I don't ever expect Yamy to ever come out with another touring bike such as the venture. They really missed the mark to keep up with the leading edge on large touring bikes. They had a chance though at one time. Eck

Fork seal driver?
Eck replied to Adavidson56304's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Any way you could use a piece of PVC pipe that slides over the fork tube where the PVC pipe is a little longer than the tube so that you can tap it with a hammer on the top and not damage the tube? The PVC pipe diameter should be very close to same diameter of the seal. I'm thinking somewhere around a 1 & 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe.. -
Randy, I didn't know you had a fall with Linda. I hope you two are OK. I too am thinking of going to a trike because the 1800 is getting kind of heavy, but I really like it on the curves..
