  2. Thought this was funny..
  3. I'm looking for the following two reservoir lids / caps: * The Plastic rear brake reservoir lid (just the plastic cap) * The Front brake reservoir cap - or - the clutch reservoir cap (just the cap / lid) Anyone have these laying on a shelf not doing anything, I sure could use them. Does not matter if they are RSV parts or GW parts.. I'm wanting to make something and if it works, I will let you know... Thanks Eck
  4. The below people were near - or - in the path of the tornatic storms last night and I am hoping we can soon hear from each of them to ensure they and their families are all OK. My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones and their homes from these storms. BigLenny Brian Jdross440 Missionary Rider Ronnie86 Saltydog Yammer
  5. Congratulations to your son Josh and to you for being the father that kept him headed in the right direction in life. Best wishes enclosed for him in his new career!!!!
  6. Just something I came up with. I call the my "Eck-Stend-A-Grips"...pardon the pun... Use them for interstate riding only..They extend the grip length 9 inches and are adjustable 180 degrees.. Had those mounted on my 05 RSV.. until I wrecked it...(see attached pic.)
  7. Its really not that hard at all.. Just time consuming. I'm old school and like to open a couple card tables before I begin, and as I remove the items, I lay it out on the tables as I take it apart. Re-assembly comes easy..and no left over bolts make it a plus... I rounded off the lower shock bolt because I was stupid. I had a 12 point socket and should have waited till the next day so I could go purchase a 6 point. But no, not me.. After I rounded the nut off on bottom shock bolt. I quit, took a shower and went to bed. This morning I got up under the bike with a propane torch and heated the nut up real hot, then grabbed it with a pair of vice grips, ran around to other side of bike and used a socket and ratchet on the head of the bolt and Wha-Lah the nut broke loose. I went up the road and got another bolt and nut for $1.16 and reassembly went as planned with out a glitch. Found out the lower shock bolt nut has "red lock-tight" on it from factory, and require heat to break it loose.. I re-installed new bolt and new nut with blue lock-tight...
  8. Well, I found me a brand new 2014 rear shock with actuator with zero miles on it for $100.00 That is one heck of a deal.. Got the old shock out and new one in, and the bike is all back together. Took her for a test ride (about 25 miles) and wow what a difference.. Here are a few picks of how it went.

  16. Trailer tongue length may need to be modified to avoid swaying.. then again it may not.
  17. I carry both for the same reason also Bob. I enjoy helping others anytime I can. One thing I don't carry is wax but I know someone who does.. I was able to get B2Dad on film, waxing my Goldwing at a motel in TN. All I can say is ...that is a friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks B2Dad... you done good!
  18. Touring to me is as some have mentioned above.. Getting on my wing and taking off.. I may have a direction in mind, but no actual destination to get to at a certain time. Only time concerned with is being off the road that day before sundown, and that is where some pre-planning comes in where I have already looked for motels and towns prior to starting up the bike that morning in the direction I had in mind. I could travel 100 miles or 300 miles and be satisfied for that day's ride, because I stopped to smell the roses, I sat on a bench and talked with a stranger, I ate at some mom & pops place that most would never even look twice at, or I sat on a rivers edge tossing rocks in the water for a while, relaxed with no pressure to be somewhere, just enjoying mother nature at it's best. I have found that back roads are the best roads when touring, doing what I can to stay off all super slabs. When I come to a "T" in the rode, I just pic a right or left turn. WHO CARES....A lot of times my GPS is turned off. As the day passes I will turn the GPS on to see where I may be at, pic a direction, and turn it off again. After one takes two or three tours on a motorcycle he will know what he needs and why. Many times I carry items that I will never need, but I have found that when I do use a item to help another, I gained a friend. One who may stay in touch with me or one that might just make mention of me during a conversation with another biker. Hopefully that mention is a good one. If I can see or learn about a place or person, I have toured that day.

  21. This guys coming to the International Rally and wants to know if you sell t-shirts and a headlight cover?
  22. Nope, not yet Bob, but I have washed my cell phone a couple times....You should try it.... Not going fishing, cleaning my sock drawer (funny), or going for a ride today.
  23. Bounce the bike up and down and see if it squeaks. If it does, lay on passenger side of bike with bike on side stand (or center stand if you have one) and look at the bottom of the rear shock. There is a rubber boot. Using your finger, wipe around the bottom of the boot and see if you see any signs of oil. Carefully lift up on the bottom of the boot to see if you see any oil. If oil is present you need to replace the shock. If no signs of oil can be found, you can try just spraying lubricant on the rubber shock mounting bushings to see if you can work it out. However, if the squeak sound appears when you just "manually" roll (push) the bike forward and aft then read the below tech article. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 If you need help give me a ring or email me. My phone number is in my profile. Eck
