  1. Venturous, That is what I am looking for. I think I will change my route to your suggestions. I was going to stay on Hwy 50 to MD just so I could say I was in MD.....but who cares.. I like the waterfalls idea too.. but I am not a hiker... Many thanks... If anyone has some other ideas, please share them. Thanks Eck
  2. Any of you in WV know of some nice MC roads to ride by starting in Fairmont, WV.? My ride plans are to ride from Fairmont and slowly head towards Front Royal, VA. so I can ride Skyline south. My first day ride from Fairmont I was looking / thinking of riding south to Grafton, then east on Hwy 50 to Aurora, then south to Parsons, picking up hwy 72 south and then Hwy 33 west to Elkins, taking 250 south to Snowshoe to Green Bank, then HWyY250 east to Churchville, then heading to Luray, VA for the night.. Next day heading to Skyline to go south.. Those of you who live in WV might know some better routes to take to enjoy the mountains, sweepers and curves...
  3. As woody said, check the hinge screws. Once you know that they are tight, check for tightness of the actual latch...also, there should be an adjustment on the lid latch itself.
  4. Man, my heart is with you bud. I don't do recovery's well either......although I have never had any major operations: Around Oct / Nov of this year though, I will be getting around 4 surgeries performed to get back in shape for 2015 years riding.. Hang in there my friend. Before you know it you will be working that clutch on the truck ...and on the bike...

  8. Yea, this isn't bike related at all but I don't hide my excitement as most men try to do. I just be me and let my feelings show. I have been on the phone for about 30 minutes with my son who lives in Australia, and he just told me he has to go because the taxi cab just arrived. He and his wife will soon be boarding a plane to take a 19hr and 45min flight from Adelaide to Vancouver. They will be staying there for 3 days, then they will be taking a train down into the states to Seattle where they will spend a couple days, then fly to LA and then to Huntsville, Al. I just cant wait to see my son again. Last time I saw him was just before my dad passed. I had him fly over so he could see his grandfather for the last time. He and his wife will be here July 19th thru July 31st. Then they will fly to Niagara falls for two days then to Toronto for two days, back to Vancouver and then back home to Australia. I wont be attending the international VR rally this year for I want to be with them every moment I can. Oh, did I say I was excited... I mean, really..,
  9. You have drank way to many beers...............again........ Check here for all VR rallies/events http://www.venturerider.org/rally/
  10. Same here. I have laid mine over like that several times. Just laid it over two weeks ago to install a CT on mine. and I installed a new front tire using center stands and jack under engine like Dennis mentioned. I noticed this time laying it over on it's side that it is getting to be one heavy bike... (It has nothing to do with me getting older and weaker now...)
  11. Mike, The engine will release heat for a long time since it is near 90% enclose in that shelter. Keep your eye on the temp gauge and it should never go above half way. Mine never has. Put bike on center stand, pull left side chrome cover under seat and check water/ coolant level on the dip stick under the alternator. You can add coolant/water there if needed. I would check this water level for a few weeks to see if it ever goes down. If so, then you have a leak or your radiator cap is not tight. Being a 2012 model the cap should be ok.
  12. Rick, I hope they find out the root cause of your problem and treatment is 100% successful for a speedy and full recovery where you can feel the wind in your face once again. Eck
  13. I may make a negative comment here and there about the heat, but I will take it over that white stuff any day....That is one major reason I moved south years ago......... I shoveled enough of that stuff in my day and I sure don't want to be shoveling any more of it ever again........ Yea, 88 / 92 degrees isn't so bad after all...

    Bugs B Gone

Sorry T.J., if what I said came across wrong, for it was not intended to sound that way. I plum forgot about those radiators.... I don't have one on the front of my wing...

    Bugs B Gone

I place a few soaked towels over the windshield and front of my bike, then I clean rest of bike 1st.. As I clean the rest of the bike, I also add water to the towels.. When I'm ready to clean the front the bugs easily wipe off. Rinse towels for next time and let them dry
  16. The carb tune MAY help but in my opinion, you have gummed up carbs and they need to be removed and completely cleaned out. Fuel filter changed, and possibly the fuel lines may have some of that gummed up old gas in them. Hard to say without seeing it. I personally would: Remove the tank, and flush it out real good. Change fuel filter Remove carbs and clean check fuel lines and replace if needed reassemble Add fresh fuel then I would adjust the carbs with the carb tune. Also, since you just bought the bike and being it would be down performing the above tasks, I would also just go ahead and: Grease the drive shaft Grease rear splines change oil & filter Check, clean or replace air filters Then... I would visit this link and go over the bike checking everything mentioned on this link. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=87 Good luck.... If you run into questions you can email me or call me. Send me an email, and I will send you my phone number in case you run into problems. Eck

    Biker Down

You did the same thing I did yesterday when I read this thread. I just didn't do the screen snap shot and post it. Great minds think alike................
  18. HWY 160 west from Popular Bluff to Branson is a whole lot better ride if you ask me. I have done both. Your route and HWy 160 and if I ever go again it will be 160. While in Branson, you should take a 1 hr ride to Eureka Springs and check out that neat town. Very nice place to visit.
  19. SO Harleys are no worse that Yamahas is what you are :whistling:saying right. Man wait till Freebird see's this thread with all the razzing he has been getting... You better run out and get a fresh box of Band-aids cause your going to need them.
  20. Best wishes enclosed for a speedy recovery Gary. Hope all goes well and your back on your feet in no time.

    New Led's

You better make a stop at your local Post Office and apply for your own zip code. Heck, Google can zoom in and find you. Looks good!
  22. As for Madison, Al. City of Madison. Chapter 14. Section 14-20 Possession "No minor under the age of 14 years shall handle or have in such person's possession or under such person's control, except while accompanied by or under the immediate charge of such person's parent or guardian, any firearm or air gun of any kind used for hunting, target practice or any other purpose."
  23. I'd feel safer on 2 wheels for sure, and ME being the driver.... I surely would not ride it on my wing.. It would have to be a good size bike made for that terrain.
