  1. Same here. I have laid mine over like that several times. Just laid it over two weeks ago to install a CT on mine. and I installed a new front tire using center stands and jack under engine like Dennis mentioned. I noticed this time laying it over on it's side that it is getting to be one heavy bike... (It has nothing to do with me getting older and weaker now...)
  2. Mike, The engine will release heat for a long time since it is near 90% enclose in that shelter. Keep your eye on the temp gauge and it should never go above half way. Mine never has. Put bike on center stand, pull left side chrome cover under seat and check water/ coolant level on the dip stick under the alternator. You can add coolant/water there if needed. I would check this water level for a few weeks to see if it ever goes down. If so, then you have a leak or your radiator cap is not tight. Being a 2012 model the cap should be ok.
  3. Rick, I hope they find out the root cause of your problem and treatment is 100% successful for a speedy and full recovery where you can feel the wind in your face once again. Eck
  4. I may make a negative comment here and there about the heat, but I will take it over that white stuff any day....That is one major reason I moved south years ago......... I shoveled enough of that stuff in my day and I sure don't want to be shoveling any more of it ever again........ Yea, 88 / 92 degrees isn't so bad after all...

    Bugs B Gone

Sorry T.J., if what I said came across wrong, for it was not intended to sound that way. I plum forgot about those radiators.... I don't have one on the front of my wing...

    Bugs B Gone

I place a few soaked towels over the windshield and front of my bike, then I clean rest of bike 1st.. As I clean the rest of the bike, I also add water to the towels.. When I'm ready to clean the front the bugs easily wipe off. Rinse towels for next time and let them dry
  7. The carb tune MAY help but in my opinion, you have gummed up carbs and they need to be removed and completely cleaned out. Fuel filter changed, and possibly the fuel lines may have some of that gummed up old gas in them. Hard to say without seeing it. I personally would: Remove the tank, and flush it out real good. Change fuel filter Remove carbs and clean check fuel lines and replace if needed reassemble Add fresh fuel then I would adjust the carbs with the carb tune. Also, since you just bought the bike and being it would be down performing the above tasks, I would also just go ahead and: Grease the drive shaft Grease rear splines change oil & filter Check, clean or replace air filters Then... I would visit this link and go over the bike checking everything mentioned on this link. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=87 Good luck.... If you run into questions you can email me or call me. Send me an email, and I will send you my phone number in case you run into problems. Eck

    Biker Down

You did the same thing I did yesterday when I read this thread. I just didn't do the screen snap shot and post it. Great minds think alike................
  9. HWY 160 west from Popular Bluff to Branson is a whole lot better ride if you ask me. I have done both. Your route and HWy 160 and if I ever go again it will be 160. While in Branson, you should take a 1 hr ride to Eureka Springs and check out that neat town. Very nice place to visit.
  10. SO Harleys are no worse that Yamahas is what you are :whistling:saying right. Man wait till Freebird see's this thread with all the razzing he has been getting... You better run out and get a fresh box of Band-aids cause your going to need them.
  11. Best wishes enclosed for a speedy recovery Gary. Hope all goes well and your back on your feet in no time.

    New Led's

You better make a stop at your local Post Office and apply for your own zip code. Heck, Google can zoom in and find you. Looks good!
  13. As for Madison, Al. City of Madison. Chapter 14. Section 14-20 Possession "No minor under the age of 14 years shall handle or have in such person's possession or under such person's control, except while accompanied by or under the immediate charge of such person's parent or guardian, any firearm or air gun of any kind used for hunting, target practice or any other purpose."
  14. I'd feel safer on 2 wheels for sure, and ME being the driver.... I surely would not ride it on my wing.. It would have to be a good size bike made for that terrain.
  15. This is so true Freebird. I remember at Vogel one year we all met at a restaurant for breakfast. A bunch of VR members showed up. It began pouring. Lewis made an announcement to cancel that days ride for safety reasons and because the majority voted not to go riding in the rain. Redneck wanted to ride the dragon since he rode all the way from TX., so I told him lets go, I'll take you.. Off we went and a few others joined us but I forgot who they were. We got about 3 miles out of town and the rain stopped. We rode all day and didn't see any rain until we got back about 3 miles from Vogel. Everyone was at Vogel under the picnic canopy as we came riding up. They thought we were nuts. That was a beautiful ride that day.
  16. Patches....
  17. Rode to work at 4am... real cool then, and rode back home around 3:30pm and it was HOT....Luckily I lived on Daniel Island which was like 12 miles from the Boeing plant. What I hated more in Charleston was all the smoke when they burn the overgrowth in the forests .. Man that smoke about killed me with my emphysema. I held my breath as long as I could and then would take a slow long intake breath as I held my shirt to my mouth, and then hold it again... And in response to being glad I don't live in FL... HECK NO..I wont ever live in FL. I cant stand that hot heat. When I go down to Sarasota to see my mom (once a year) I stay inside and we argue over the inside temp. My mom likes it around 80 degrees inside. I want it like 73/74 degrees inside. So we settled it by setting it at 77. For years I would leave and stay in a motel while down there because I could not stand the heat inside her place or outside.
  18. I don't like riding when its anywhere over 85 / 87 degrees. I dont find it enjoyable..
  19. (Quote) I ordered one of these cars, ........... Wont get it till next Summer. Hey Eddie, Next summer is here. I see your thread was posted on 08/12/2013 last year Think you will have this in your driveway within the next two months? Truthfully now, I sure would like to hear what you have to say about this thing after riding in it for a week. Would like to know all the good and bad things about it based on your personal opinion.

    Crabs?

I wish I could go with you Joe, but I can't at this time, plus, (no offence please), but I dont eat or like crabs or anything out of the ocean for that matter. All I can say is that your intentions are so very nice of you to do what you are going to do, in remembering someone who has touched your life so deep in the past. I had a friend (Fred) who touched my life and my heart deeply but he has gone to the other side. I hope someday I find him again. You have a very kind and soft heart Joe. :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:
  21. Years ago I was with a guy who was on a Goldwing and we parked our bikes together. I put my helmet in the trunk. He just hung his on handle bar. When we came back someone poured their drink into the guys helmet.. He was no slouch either and I'm glad he didn't catch the guy who did it.. Notice I did not say anything about a Harley rider... all I said was someone poured the drink in the helmet. Could have been a female for all we knew.
  22. (Quote) the biker was not a fault the other guy was charged! Police say Smith did not have the required motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license. You can bet the biker was charged for no endorsement on his license. My opinion is, he should not have been riding the bike!!!!!!!!!!!
